The lack of staff in retirement homes as well as the isolation of the elderly are major issues that are being felt more and more today, we felt concerned about them and really wanted to study and work on this subject as architects students .
The project «The house of sharing» tries to respond to these major issues by offering a retirement house liked to an existing IFSI (nursing training institute).
This physical proximity between the school and the retirement house has many benefits for the comfort of life of the elderly as well as for the students.
“The sharing house” is a place rich in exchanges, which fights against the isolation of the elderly where intergenerational interactions are numerous thanks to shared programs.

Exchange, sharing
All the shops and shared activities are organized as a “street” to not feel like in a hospital. This arrangement makes it possible to rediscover the village spirit, a friendly atmosphere and to offer nearby activities for residents who have difficulty getting around. These activities bring life to the retirement home in order to occupy and entertain the inhabitants.
These intergenerational interactions are beneficial both, for the residents of the retirement home and for the students.
Feel at home
The rooms have the ability to be adaptable to meet the different needs of each inhabitant thanks to an annex that can be closed or open and allows them to accommodate the program of their choice.

The project «the house of sharing» blends into the landscape of the very wooded site thanks to its wooden having a facade shape inspired as the silhouette of the mountains with the cut-out of the cladding.
The architecture of the building has been designed to settle lightly on the site by playing with the vegetation.
