Step 4 Create public platform
This design aims to create a lively community which not only reminds people of village life, but also synergizes with modern technology and green strategies. On one hand, the closed loop system inside the building encourages resource reusing and energy efficiency. On the other hand, people can spend time on their own “farm land” and participate in the cradle to cradle system. Here you may see people trading their farm products at a public platform, or vegetable remains being fed to fish. Every component is playing its critical role to stabilize and enrich the whole system. And unconsciously, talks and laughters will fill the place. Residents in this urban village finally leave behind the coldness of modern life.

Introduction Starting from the concept of fully automated luxury communism, we explored the influnce brought by the situation when fully automation replaces human labor. Will that be an opportunity for liberty and leisure, or be a new era for different life style. Developed by that, we addressed more intention about the automated world. Tuvalu, as a small island centered at Pacific Ocean, has the perfect opportunity to build a super habor and super factory to serve for every trading across the Ocean. The beneficial point is the decreasing cost in transporting across the Pacific Rim. In this way, architecture will be defined by automation and also build a brand-new atmosphere for machines. To realize the building of machines, we try to find basic rules similar to the rules in normal architecture. According to Le Corbusier, human scale is the measurement fo architecture, similarly, in this automated world, machines will become the measurements.`

London, a modern city full of culture, history and imagination. Thousands of people from all over the world are fascinated by magnificent attractions in here, they gather together and create vibrant atmosphere for these public spaces. From London eye to covent garden, no matter modern industry or traditional architecture, public spaces bring energy for urban fabric and provide people with various leisure activities. As for culture, one of the most impressing part in London is theatre cuture.London has been a pioneer in the theatre world, being one of the first cities in the world to fully submit to the culture.London as a city has become synonymous with theatre, not within the Unitied Kindom, but worldwide. There are approximately 32,000 thousand theatre performances a year in London and still theare is a demand for more. From the investigation of different public spaces and performance spaces, it is obvious that every spaces can be influenced by different scale, position, surrounding buildings, etc. Some public spaces like Trafalgar Square,Leicester Square and Soho square, even in different size, they offer people wide and opened spaces. Compared to Covent Garden, public spaces are partly combined with architecture, then may create indoor-outdoor experience.

Arch becomes the main element bouncing from the top level to the bottom level. It gives the architecture a unified form and also follows the need from function. Big arch can create wide interior space like theatre, then two arches in this design provide spaces in different height to fly tower and seats area. In this way, the continuous arch form will highlight the playful roof space. It provides various space experiences for both visitors and audiences.

This concrete architecture with arch roof seems to be an incongruous sight in Soho area at the first glance. However, the public spaces around or inside this design are coming from its surroundings, like the concept of a square, or undefined grey spaces between outdoor and indoor. Also, this design is trying to follow some rules in modern architecture, such as the concise elevation, the horizontal window, roof garden and the ground floor transparency. With the various and comfortable public spaces it provides to people and the combination of modern elements, this architecture can stand in harmony with surroundings.

In 2120, the combination technology of AI and human has become very mature. Having been long into the era of full automation, humans only need to perform a minimal amount of maintenance work, and the remaining 90% of the time can be free to themselves, so the entertainment industry had an explosive growth. Human beings gradually became dissatisfied with activities on the Earth, and took interest in the boundless space of the outer space. The developer established a countless number of playgrounds, hotels, parks, and stadiums in space for humans to kill their free time at hand. And these amusement establishments without traditional gravity restrictions have created a brand new experience for mankind. Super humans can use their own AI system to freely establish different levels of localized micro-gravity fields towards any plane of mass. In such a space, the top and bottom can be turned upside down carelessly. The planes are crisscrossed, and super humans can shuttle freely from one to another.

We started out with a “factory-chain” method to observe the effect of a set of chosen operations on our primary ovject( A prymid). This led us to form a core&surface system , and we aim to explore the relationship between the core and the outer surfaces with the help of Bar linkage system. Core uses Interlocked slices, transparent acrylic, While Outer Surface applies 3D printed with patterns(Localized condition using grasshopper)
Bar linkage 1: Use eight disks( double joint) rotating together to move the four cover shells, while producing a complex route.
Bar linkage 2: Use four disks rotating together to move the four cover shells, while producing a stable and organic route.

In 1978, Theodore John Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, began to take extreme criminal acts to promote his theory. He claimed that a revolution was needed, otherwise industrialization would destroy the world. His ideology summoned a group of people who view the modernized world as sinful. However, the capital driven evolution of industrial society won’t easily be slowed down. Allowed by their ever more powerful technology, many capitalists took the asteroids which are full of rare metals as another ready source of money. While, the group of “anti-industrialists” also found the space mining rational as it would protect the environment of Earth. Then they collaborated with some capitalists and created a mining village in an asteroid. Volunteers were recruited from Earth to live under the artificial atmosphere, again thanks to the technology. To make bigger profits, capitalists streamed villagers’ daily life as a reality TV show. The TV show went viral on Earth, where the skyscrapers had occupied nearly every square feet of good ground. The rustic lifestyle immediately caught the audience’s attention. Perhaps a call from deep within their heart still have them bonded with the primitive life.
