Typography

“The imaginative high-contrast typeface combines characteristics from scottish and Garalde models. Vesterbro Poster is warmer then most Didotinspired display faces. It has friendly, organic shapes, with a generous x-height and short serifs. Its titled axis and supple curves lend Vesterbro Poster an inviting, jovial personality.”

The font ‘Vesterbro’ is a vitual visual element of the INKA brand. Vesterbro Poster is mainly used for titles and logo elements. Vesterbro Light is used for main body text as well as Vesterbro Regular to create a visual variation in a block of text. The typeface can be used in a variety of media types, from digital to print.

Logo

This logotype is the central element in INKA’s visual communications of the brand. In the logotype, the letters I-N-K-A are reduced to their most simplified form, using Vesterbro as a strong piece of typography. The letters and strokes are all of one width , evoking the qualities of unity. The serif bold font creates a serious brand, the the boldness creates a fun element to the brand itself.

The logo on the opposite page must always be used.

the odd sock company: “the odd sock company slogan is clear and simple to what the brand is. Consumers can trust the brand and know exactly what they are getting.

Primary Pattern INKA has many patterns that are used as the main visual element of the brand. This pattern would be used on the window displays, socks, social media and all digital elements. This pattern portrays a fun young brand that works with a range of colours schemes when customising the socks.

Secondary Patterns As well as the primary pattern, the brand has secondary patterns. These patterns are made to work with many different colour schemes, that would be reflected on to the socks. These patterns have been created to work with any colour scheme and work on any sock. This gives the consumer freedom to choose what is unique to them!

Photography

The inka socks must appear in all of the brand photography. The idea is to create an exciting, fun mood that is colourful and quirky. A style that appeals to inka’s young target audience. These shots should be either taken in a studio like the images shown or taken as street photography. These need to be taken in a urban, colourful area. Such as Shoreditch or Soho in London. The images should be shot at an appropriate angle, so that the photographs are consistent. The shots should look slightly uncomfortable and strange. Representing the ‘odd’ sock brand. Overall the photos need to represent a fun, unique brand and need to excite new and exsisting consumers.

All photos were taken by Ciara Delaney. Edited by Chloe Alexander.

The Socks

The appearance of the socks are on display in stores is a vitual part of the branding. The socks need to stand out and look unique from other highstreet competition. The brand needs to be clear with the logo and also show the pattern clearly.

The colours on the socks will change but the pattern will stay the same. The pattern will either be enlarged to cover the sock or repeated to create a pattern. The patterns can all be referred to in this book.
