EASY YEEZY

Sportswear basics acquire a new status as they are established into day-today life. The line between work and play becomes blurred, and as our lives become more flexible, so do our clothes. The “IT” girls are all about stylish sportswear which score top marks not only for performance, stamina and technology, but also style and aesthetic. Smart materials are engineered towards new standards of lightweight, technical and durable garments.

IT WAS ACCEPTABLE IN THE 80S Neon is making another comeback, this time around it is creeping into our sportswear. Reminiscent of the shell suits worn back in the 1980s UK football terraces its unique patchwork look is updated with a striking colour palette that references The Beatles film, Yellow Submarine. Gym staples take on neon colour blocking with a graffiti style twist. Tracksuits are enhanced with patchwork and cuts are masculine. Lightweight, flowing satin materials are key to this retro look.

NOCTURNAL

This trend blurs the boundaries between gym and club wear. Designers take a more glamorous approach with daring necklines, mesh inserts and panelling making the jumpsuit and leotard the new LBD. Its colour palette is rich and dark to add to its sophisticated aesthetic. Lounge-wear is updated through the use of velvet giving it a luxurious feel. Sports-luxe is taken to the next level but is still easy and comfortable to wear.

LOL-ITICS

Turn your subversive feels into a fashion statement. Brands will be causing a stir with punchy prints, sassy slogans and crude statements. The lines are blurred between humour and tongue-in-cheek. Protests are embellished with statements of solidarity and unity in bold and loud typefaces. Basic cotton tees and minimalist knitwear materials will dominate this trend. Bootleg is no longer fashion’s ‘dismissed bastard child’ but has now become of cult status.

OPULENT FLORALS

Our fascination with royals and aristocrats is brought to life in the form of romantic floral prints paired with rich fabrics. A favourite on the catwalk, party dresses are enriched with brocade and teamed with eccentric styling to make a bold statement. Classic pieces such as the bomber jacket are updated in winter oranges and reds. Decadence is created through the use of warm metallics worked through floral patterns. Higher price points will add to the exclusiveness of this luxury trend.

CHECKMATE

Designers are reinventing checks and plaids giving them a whole new importance. Outerwear is key in this trend, the traditional Prince of Wales check feels new and youthful in soft and powdery shades. Power dressing is a favourite on the streets with oversized suits taking on windowpane grids creating contemporary silhouettes with a sartorial feel.

BACK TO BASICS

Minimalism is given a new meaning with consumers wanting the complicated things in life stripped back to their original beginnings. Sustainability is made sophisticated with industrial looks and heavy materials softened with hand finishes and faded colours. A contemporary feel is created through the use of mirrors and thoughtful reflections. Most importantly the focus in-store is brought back on to showcasing the products.

CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC

Pink is reinventing itself once more moving from art to in-store. This desaturated shade is a subtle wink back to those lesser aesthetic times, paired with a sincere confidence that weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re doing it better now. It will be seen on walls, floors and everywhere in-between with hints of faded blues and greens accompanying it. Sleek pieces of furniture and rose gold lighting will make this trend subtly retro. Cheeky, nostalgic and modern, this easy on the eye trend will be an Instagrammers dream.
