Create an identity and range of packaging with supporting promotional material for a small high end make up boutique, based in London.
High quality make up that not only looks amazing on, but is made with natural ingredients that are good for the skin. The aim is to communicate the benefits without relying on them for sales, nor appear to ‘green’ or ‘hippy-esque’. Aesthetic to be clean, contemporary and beautiful, plus stand out from an already saturated market.
Females, aged 22-40, who are willing to pay a little more for a quality product that both looks good on and is good for their skin. Likely to be fashion conscious and sociable with discerning taste. Aesthetically aware and likely to be swayed by beautiful packaging. TONE Quality / contemporary / interesting / beautiful / trustworthy / exciting /

IDENTITY & TYPOGRAPHY
PACKAGING
To understand how packaging works over a length of time, a number of different ranges were devised, that would be launched at different times of the year. There is one range, titled the ‘Core Collection’ that is a permanent and remains available all year round. In addition to this each season a smaller limited edition range has been created. This range is seasonal and thus would be available to customers for 3 months before a new range is brought out. These are titled by the season they related to. For example, ‘Limited Edition Spring Collection’.
The logo is designed to appear confident, contemporary and simple, yet still memorable with personality. This is helped by the slab serifs on the typeface chosen.
The Core Collection contains mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick, foundation and face powder. The chosen theme of monochrome patterns is applied across the range with each product receiving its own pattern. The inside is lined with a contrasting pattern, to add an additional level of interest and demonstrate attention to detail. The label is a constant width and along with the layout only alters to allow for different packaging formats. This ensures a consistent look. The colour dot representing the colour of the make up is applied as a sticker. A logo has been created to show if the make up is UV protective.

GIFT VOUCHERS
A full range of print and promotional material has been produced to accompany the packaging. Using the same patterns and typography, all printed material is clearly related.
Shown above is the receipt slip, with the flap cut in keeping with geometric pattern printed on the inside.
Gift vouchers come in a specially designed slip, with a foil blocked logo and pattern applied to the inside to add an extra touch when you pull the gift card out. The gift cards themselves are foil blocked on one side with a silver security bar. The back is black with logo printed in white.
GIFT BOX Products brought for gifts can be placed in specially designed boxes that are lined with black tissue paper and fastened with a Uzuri sticker.

Simple business card with just the logo and necessary details. They don’t have the patterns on so that in the future they can sit alongside any product range and not look out of place. WISH LIST CARDS

Often customers are offered a range of products that suit them on visiting a make up shop, the cards mean that
products can be written down and remembered for next time, if customers don’t wish to buy a lot at once. LOOK BOOK Each range of make up has a look book to accompany it - this contains ideas about what’s on trend that season and/or how to create a particular look. The look books work as promotion with the product details and new ranges being promoted within them. Printed simply on 2 sheets of duplex paper they are an economical way to promote the ranges. Each book is different, but united by typography and over all aesthetic.
PRIVATE INVITE Seasonal events are held in the shop to get customers involved and gain brand loyalty. Invite to be sent out to those customers who express an interest in the event. Invite is single sided and displays the pattern relating to the season almost as if it was an art piece. Invite come in a luxurious black envelope, sealed with an Uzuri sticker.

CONCESSION STAND
Contemporary shop front in monochrome palette in keeping with the brand’s identity. The interior is much the same with the addition of dark wood furniture and stands to add some warmth to the shop. A personal service and space to sit down are both offered to ensure the customer feels comfortable in this space.
Identity and typography continues across all interior signage, promotion and point of sale display to enure a consistent brand image.
While the brand has a boutique shop in London, other outlets such as Harvey Nichols, Debenhams and Liberties will sell the range. Concession stands like the above can be used to display the make up ranges. Dark wood and white typography is used, just like the main shop.

The website offers information about the company, as well as a look book section to get inspiration, details about the products and an online shop. The overall tone is once of simplicity, with a focus on the products, information, photography and usability. The shop in particular is designed to show the product and purchasing details in the clearest possible manner.
The typography is the same as all other Uzuri branded material and other elements have been pulled across such as the circle of colour to represent the colour of the make up itself.
Just as the products have a change of look seasonally so do does the site - new photography is used for each season - with a colour palette and photography to suit.

The newspaper is a promotional publication that is designed for production once the brand has established itself. Its purpose is the engage the viewer with articles and news of events, fashion, culture and so on that are relevant to the lifestyle of the customer. Combining this with details about Uzuri products and limited edition ranges, it becomes a great promotional tool thats ultimate purpose is to create brand loyal customers.
