Links There are many links between my chosen era including celebrities, fashion and modern day. One of the links are and my art movement and the social media at the time link is the way Andy Warhol uses popular celebrity icons at the particular time and interprets them into his art work.
Links Another link is the fashion - The modern day fashion and high street clothing have took inspiration from the 1960’s woman. WGSN posted that 60’s Modernist was in for AW 13’ and shops such as River Island portrayed this through there shop. Pop art is an art movement that got noticed in the mid1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop art was mainly fine art drawings combined with bold colours and comic book effects which included images from popular culture. Pop art looks into the aspects of mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane cultural objects.

Roy Lichtenstein Roy Lichtenstein was born October 27th 1923 and sadly passed on the 29th September 1997. He was an American pop artist and became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the basic premise of pop art better than any other through parody. His favourite style of art work was the old fashioned comic strip, it would often include female figures with humorous quotes and bold colours to stand out. Roy Lichtenstein has influenced modern day fashion and beauty to an extent that Tom Ford incorporated it into his Fall 2013 collection. Also, Vogue Japan published a beauty issue inspired by the ‘Legendary Roy Lichtenstein’. http://www.youtube.com/wat ch?v=wtDSTuzY1QM I love how they’ve used pop art into their work and made it look modern, these are looks that can be recreated and used in day to day life which is crucial when you’re a designer.
They have used shocking bright colours with polka dot concealer and coloured in eyebrows. All iconic points of pop art.

For my other pop art artist I have chose Andy Warhol, he was born on the 6th of august , 1928 and sadly passed February 22, 1987. He was an American pop artist and was also a leading figure in this art movement. His work is based upon advertising and celebrity culture, he also looked into the relationships between artistic expression. Not only was Andy Warhol inspired by celebrity and the media he was also inspired by ‘Byzantine Catholicism’ so he looked into the church and then ended up making “modern” religious icons with famous peoples faces and common household products. Finally he was also influenced by the gay underground of NYC. “Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art”

Andy Warhol influenced fashion, music and other forms of creativity. One way he influenced modern way was that past and present music artists dedicated their album covers in the style of Andy Warhol for example, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, John Lennon and Madonna.

* I like the busy patterns of Anna Molinari catwalk collection because they clash but compliment each other and its full of coloured prints and key colours which will look good in the summer, also I think these will suit girls my age and woman older. However, Topshop have took a different approach and have a broader target market as I can see girls younger than myself wearing the accessories
Andy Warhol Another way in which Andy Warhol has influenced modern day is through fashion, many designers have incorporated Andy Warhol’s work into their garment or taken aspects from it to appreciate the work he done.
Anna Molinari, the Blumarine collection for Fall 2009 used inspiration from Andy Warhol by using 60s inspired multicoloured prints, primary solid colours and edgy silhouetted garments but also used a pop art backdrop for her runway.
Also high street shops such as Topshop have used pop art in their accessories by using the icon colours and phrases.
Fashion Designer Lisa Perry was so inspired by Andy Warhol that he became her ‘muse’. She used basic block template dresses and tunics and printed some of his famous work such as Campbell's soup can and even printed a image of him. She also focused on pop art itself by creating dresses inspired by both Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, for example the iconic comic book dress and the light switch.
*Andy Warhol Finally, Andy Warhol has influenced contemporary artists to an extent that they have continued to use pop art in their own work such as Pepsi Max used BeyoncĂŠ on their products throughout their advertising. They used the bright primary colours and theme throughout her poses give off a fun emotion which is a main key in pop art imagery.
*Andy Warhol However, even though Andy Warhol has influenced art in every creative form from film making to music and fashion he wasn’t always loved by the public and often got criticised on his morals and fame. “The guy is more of a manufacturer rather than an artist” – Unknown This implies that Andy Warhol wasn’t your traditional artist with a paintbrush and fine liner but he used to produce products and goods and I disagree because art is anything you consider yourself to be art there is no rules for it and to say he never done his art work himself is insulting.
“He's a media baby, a product of media” – Unknown This suggests he used art for his fame and also played on the media for his fame. Regardless If he done this or not I think he is an influential art figure and is recognised in history because of his dedication to art and how well he produced it, it was always current, vibrant and fun.
*Psychedelic
Is a name given to the subculture of people who use psychedelic drugs, the side effects where highly distorted, surreal visuals and sound effects, bright colours and animations which would evoke and convey to a viewer or listener. Many side effects came out of using psychedelic drugs such as hallucinations, synaesthesia, altered states of awareness, change in thought patterns and hypnotic and mystical states, These states of mind can lead people into mental operation which leads them to question their self identity although it can excite and change moods to a more happier state.

Although psychedelic can be portrayed though any situation and techniques, the main ones are medication, sensory stimulation, deprivation and more commonly for the use of psychedelic substances. However they could also be used for religious and spiritual purposes.
*Psychedelic Music
Psychedelic music covers a range of popular music styles and genres, which are inspired by or influenced by psychedelic culture and which attempt to replicate and/or enhance the mind-altering experiences of psychedelic drugs. The trend started mid 1960’s folk rock and blues rock bands in the United States and Britain. Psychedelic music bands often used new recording techniques and effects and drew on non-Western sources such as the ragas and drones of Indian music. Psychedelic influences spread into folk, rock, and soul, creating the subgenres of psychedelic folk, psychedelic rock, psychedelic pop and psychedelic soul in the late 1960s before declining in the early 1970s. Psychedelic music bands expanded their musical range, and went on to create and influence many new musical genres including progressive rock, jazz rock, heavy metal, glam rock, funk, electro and bubble gum pop. Personally I’m not a fan of this music but I can appreciate how the music evolved it started from something little and expanded to all mini genres and big music movements which changed modern day .
*PSYCHDELIC
Psychedelic rock is a style of rock music that was inspired and influenced by the psychedelic culture and attempts to replicate and enhance the mind-altering experiences of psychedelic drugs. It often uses new recording techniques and effects. It was a popular genre emerging during the 1960’s due to bands such as Pink Floyd, The Byrd's, The Beatles but was also popular with musicians such as Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane. As psychedelic became more known it eventually reached a high with popularity due to festivals such as Summer of Love and Woodstock Rock Festival subcultures such as Hippies reached a peak. However eventually the trend faded, but even though the trend faded it opened a lot of doors for different musical opportunities such as psychedelic pop, glam rock, folk music, and developed sub genres such as heavy metal.

*WOODSTOCK The Woodstock Music & Art Fair was a music festival, it was known for being the 3 Days of Peace & Music. It was held at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York. It normally showcases from August 15 to August 18. It involved lots of sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll - plus a lot of mud. The Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 has become an icon of the 1960s hippie counterculture.
*Psychedelic Art
Psychedelic art is any kind of visual artwork inspired by psychedelic experiences triggered by drugs such as LSD, mescaline, and psilocybin. The word "psychedelic" means "mind manifesting". In common parlance "Psychedelic Art" refers above all to the art movement of the late 1960s counterculture. Psychedelic visual arts were a counterpart to psychedelic rock music. Concert posters, album covers, lightshows, murals, comic books, underground newspapers and more reflected not only the kaleidoscopically swirling patterns of LSD hallucinations, but also revolutionary political, social and spiritual sentiments. I like psychedelic art because its fun and colourful, it gives off a summer mood and reminds me of happiness. However, I think this is a personal art because its normally created by artists who have experienced or have been triggered by drugs so they see things in a different way.
*Rick Griffin Richard Alden Griffin was born on the 18th of June 1944Â and died August 18 1991. Richard was an American artist and one of the leading designers of psychedelic posters in the 1960s. As a contributor to the underground commix movement, his work appeared regularly in Zap Commix. Griffin was closely identified with the Grateful Dead, designing some of their best known posters and record jackets. His work within the surfing subculture included both film posters and his comic strip, Murphy.

Victor Moscoso is an artist originally born in Oleiros in 1936is an he was best known for producing psychedelic rock posters/advertisements and underground commix in San Francisco during the 1960s and 1970s. Moscoso's use of vibrating colors was influenced by painter Josef Albers, one of his teachers at Yale. He was the first of the rock poster artists to use photographic collage in many of his posters.
*Psychedelic Fashion Psychedelic has a lasting effect on modern day fashion, it had an overwhelming amount of prismatic printed fashion which has been seen on runways from Paris to New York. The hypnotic designs draw inspiration from the 70s era of kaleidoscopic visuals with a free-spirited disposition. I love these designs as they're vibrant and different they have odd shape silhouette dresses and baggy blouses which hide rather than accentuate figures which will appeal to a bigger market.
*Psychedelic influences on the runway Emma Mulholland I like Emma's designs as they look like they appeal to a younger target market such as myself, I can see these designs in modern day and she combines the art with modern day to make the design more wearable and realistic.

This is my first image. Throughout my images I wanted to create a strong and powerful message. I wanted to put myself in Jackie Kennedys shoes and show how hurt she would of been when her husband died. I used the magazine with ‘JFK IS DEAD’ on to create controversy and to show how much the media influenced the people.
John F Kennedy got shot so I introduced the gun into the photograph to show how he got murdered. My models expression gives off an angry vibe this makes you feel intrigued. Once again I have shown that the media was a big part of the 60’s so I cut a newspaper up and threw it meaning that she cant get away from the media.
For this images I used the newspaper and the gun for the props because these are controversial and shocking to the audience. I wanted to catch the audience eyes so that they look at the image and have a blank expression.
This is a close up of the gun photograph minus the newspaper confetti. I wanted to create an angry image to show how Jackie Kennedy would be feeling.
I have chosen this for my final image because it gives you clearly the message I want to portray. Her expression being upset and blank and heart break from this assassination and the newspaper showing the tragic time of her life being covered in the media all over the world, the background was to show that everyone else was happy around the same time with events such as Woodstock and lsd drugs being around.
*Evaluation My e portfolio shows clearly my journey from choosing my eras to evolving and looking in depth of all different aspects from the time eras this included, events, art, music, historical moments and states how I ended up with my final image. It works well because of the colour scheme and how well I have linked all my slides together, I have changed my topics within the presentation to a neat and high standard instead of it being random. I think my final image could have been stronger as my background you wouldn’t instantly think psychedelic but you could clearly see my chosen era and my pop art contribution, also I have conveyed emotion though the image. I think I could of worked more into the fashion aspect of this task I have looked more into the inspiration and events that went on in the time era rather than what they wore and what influenced the fashion world but I did research into modern day designers who have took inspiration from the things I have researched. Finally, for my e portfolio I would make it neater and use fewer colours to produce it to a professional standard, allowing the audience to read it more clearly.
