After a virtual show in 2020, the 77th Kimpton Horse Show was back with a bang at the end of July this year. Large numbers of competitors, old and new, came out to support the huge range of showing classes, show jumping, gymkhana and novelty competitions at what is one of the few remaining village horse shows in the country.
Congratulations to long-standing Kimpton Horse Show competitor Hayley Ward who went home with the prestigious Harding Challenge Cup, having ridden her horse Celestial Vision to success in various classes throughout the day. One of the younger competitors Grace Rist rode her pony Sweet Sunstroke to overall second place to take the Wren Trophy.
Some highlights for spectators were the horse and hound class where equine and dog took centre stage, as well as something a little different with some traditional Spanish dress in the best turned out and concours classes.
The aim of Kimpton Horse Show remains the same as the year it started, to raise funds for causes benefiting the lives of local people. Over the last decade, the show has raised more than £25,000 for brilliant causes both in Kimpton and further afield.
