Hardwood flooring and contemporary furnishings throughout beginning with the large lobby, which includes the AC Lounge where breakfast is available mornings; small plates with cocktails served evenings. Multiple seating areas provide gazing upon Rosemary Street out a wall of windows on one side; while enclosed patio seating with fire pit is accessible on other side of the lobby. Lobby doors open automatically onto streets of downtown Chapel Hill a few blocks away from the UNC campus. A 24-hour fitness room includes Matrix equipment and free weights.

Spacious and modern, people using wheelchairs were built into the design, from the bar, with two spaces on the end for bellying up (the rest of the bar seating is on a lower level; two spacious stalls with safety bars in lobby restrooms; and a swimming pool with a remote controlled lift for easy entry and exit.
The 12 ADA rooms (choose two queens or a king bed), have low beds and lots of space,and adjoining room if desired. Between the bathroom and sink/dressing area is an unobtrusive sliding mirrored door. From the T-bar closet system to the standard and USB plugs by the beds, these rooms ease the struggle of travel. Oh, and your pup is welcome.
The bathrooms have non-skid ceramic tile with roll-in showers that include a seat, hand-held and wall-mounted shower heads and ample safety bars.

This first hotel in Chapel Hill, across the street from the first buildings on the UNC campus, honors the history of the state and university in details both large and small. Valet parking takes the worry out of unloading the car.
Easy entry into the expansive, elegant lobby where classical music mutes conversations in multiple seating areas on rugs over hardwood floors.
In ADA rooms, the lowered peephole and thermostat blend into the meticulous details in rooms where the hardwood entry moves onto a low pile carpet around two queen four-poster beds with ample electric outlets around each. A long desk creates some separation from an alcove with upholstered seating and a dropdown desk. Hidden inside a huge armoire is a television, closet, fridge, safe, coffeemaker, bottled water and ice bucket.
Intricate tiling in the bathroom flows into the roll-in shower with seat and handheld or fixed shower. A wood encased vanity is set below a lowered mirror; towel racks and all amenities are within easy reach.
Colonial Inn

In a historic district with a speed limit of 20 mph, parallel park in a handicap space on King Street in front of the hotel, with ramp onto porch nearby.
Front desk is inside of porch entrance in a restored 18th century building (with a history worthy of learning), accessible by most wheelchairs (33.5” door opening).
Two ADA rooms are in a 21st century wing, with lowered bed and wide, open spaces within a large room with hardwood flooring. Four electric plugs are on each side of bed and a large screen TV is mounted to wall. Upon reserving a room, you will be asked what temperature you would like the room upon arrival.
A sliding barn door opens into the bathroom and a roll-in shower with no-slip treads, seat, dazzling lighting, grab bars, towel hooks and plenty of room. Opening under sink provides for wheelchair.
Courtyard by Marriott

The only hotel on downtown Franklin Street has a wide revolving door in the lobby that might make you think you’re in a big city, but you’ll find navigating your stay less complicated, starting with the parking garage you’ll enter before checking in, if driving. Graduate has handicap spaces on the first two floors, next to entrance doors that open automatically.
Upon entering the lobby, you will know you’ve arrived in Tar Heel country, where Carolina blue is the dominate color and basketball is the theme — and that front revolving door has wide entry doors on either side, which wheelchair users appreciate. A banquette and curved couch rest in the lobby, where the front desk is lit with the winning final score of the 1982 championship game, next to the Trophy Room Restaurant and Bar, with plenty of space to roll around tables and chairs. The hotel has a full-size indoor basketball court (of course), and 24-hour gym.
ADA rooms have either a kingsize bed with loveseat in a seating area that includes a table; or two queen beds. As with all rooms in the hotel, the flooring is repurposed wood from basketball courts. The lowered beds have multiple electric outlets nearby; the desk holds a tray with an electric kettle, bottled water, and materials to make pour-over coffee. Besides a place to unpack, or hold your suitcase, a cabinet under the wall-hung TV also contains a mini fridge. Open and close the curtains using a lowered looped baton.
The bathroom has a roll-in shower with fold-up seat, lowered cubby for bathing items; and lowered towel racks and towel hooks.

The outdoor Olympic sized pool has a zero entry side with handrails. The flourishing grounds have numerous seating areas and wheelchair accessible garden paths.
Rooms employ a green initiative that simplifies entering and leaving your room: place your key card in a card holder inside next to the door and lights will come on; when you leave, no looking for your card — it’s next to the door, and when you remove it the lights will go off. Beds are lowered with abundant space and electric outlets around them. The closet has a lowered hanging rack, safe, and large compact fridge; next to desk with coffee maker and ice bucket; and full length mirror on the wall.
Spacious bathrooms have handheld and fixed shower heads, a fixed bench and lowered towel racks.

Park in the front handicap space and wheelchair users can roll across faux cobblestones to the two sets of double front doors, first of which opens automatically, and second assisted by staff if needed; or park in one of two handicap spaces at the backdoor (automatic door opener) and roll through the palatial lobby to the front desk.
If you are a wheelchair user and need to use the restroom before checking in, you’ll need to take the elevator to the second floor and turn right for the ADA restroom.

The fitness center is near the elevators.
The hardwood and low pile flooring of the lobby leads to padded carpeting in the hallways and rooms. Two king rooms and two double queen rooms have lowered peep holes. The lowered beds have ample room with USB ports and extra electric outlets around them. The closet is lowered and a table can be lowered with a button; windows have a looped drapery baton.

There’s a hydration station outside of the gym for filling bottles before working out or leaving the hotel to explore.
Digital keys open guest room doors onto hardwood flooring and plenty of space around beds with multiple electric outlets on both sides; lowered luggage shelf with fridge underneath. King rooms have adjoining room option and lowered peep holes; one wall has a section of knobs for hanging clothing. All rooms have privacy shades that let the light in, plus blackout shades.
