Getting Motivated on an Exercise Plan Anyone on a diet program wants to get back youthful energy and fit back into the clothes that made them look and feel good. Today's highly stressed lifestyle doesn't provide the incentive needed to get on an exercise program. Procrastination and those enticing foods come far easier than a daily exercise routine.
The first step to exercise or getting on a diet program is to visit your doctor to get an idea of your state of health. Any exercise program will do little good if it doesn't take your current health into account. Your doctor will be able to make any recommendations or forward you to a competent fitness instructor.
Once you know where you stand physically, you can then begin an exercise routine. If you've never exercised, your trainer will likely start you off on a low stress exercise routine such as walking or pool exercises that don't cost a fortune.
How you approach exercise is important. Jumping in without a warm-up or a cool down increases your chances of injury and dampens any enthusiasm you may have. You need to approach exercise slowly to help adjust your body to the stresses of your active routine.
In the routine of life distractions take away your concentration levels. When it comes to exercise, however, the right kind of distraction can be beneficial. Watching television or listening to good music while you run a stationary bike helps speed up time until your exercise shift ends. Exercising with a group is a great way to socialize and boost your motivation.
from changing the routine. Instead of running the treadmill every day, you can play ball with the kids. Instead of lifting weights, you can put on some dance music. Gardening is a great exercise as is cleaning house or washing your car. These are all easy exercises you can do and have fun doing them. If you feel too old for hockey or basketball, you can try golf or go bowling in the winter months. Baseball, tennis, skiing and curling are all healthy activities. If none of these appeal to you, there's yoga & the soft exercise movements of tai chi/qi gong. Motivation starts in the mind. How you view exercise determines how much you will do. Look at exercise negatively and you'll never make a start. The health of your mind is important as how it rules the body.
The food you eat has a bearing on your mental alertness and physical fitness. If you're not eating a healthy diet, you won't have any energy to exercise. A body filled with toxins and chemicals won't motivate you to exercise. The same applies to your habits. If you smoke, drink or have a poor self image, these factors will dampen your motivation.
The right diet combined with the right exercise will lead to a happier and healthier you. Once you start a program, you'll discover that you'll find daily exercise enjoyable. Once you reach that point, you to won't need to worry about the incentive to just do it.
Everyone gets tired from doing the same things over and over. Nothing says that exercise must be boring. Motivation comes

Deciding What’s Right
ACTIVE ADULT LIVING are age qualified communities and are either “For Sale” of “For Rent.” The minimum age is either 55 or 62. Active Adult Living communities focus on lifestyle which means they typically have a clubhouse, golf course, tennis courts and a swimming pool. INDEPENDENT LIVING offer amenities similar to multi-family apartments but these communities have a minimum age requirement of either 55 or 62. Some independent living communities are market rate meaning rental rates are similar to standard apartments while others are classified as “affordable” meaning they offer reduced rent to those who qualify. These communities offer lifestyle amenities such as community rooms and pools.
RESIDENTIAL CARE LIVING are typically single-family homes that provide a home-like setting. Residents are assisted with activities of daily living and provided meals, medication supervision, housekeeping, and laundry services.
ASSISTED LIVING offer semi-private or private living units and assist with all aspects of daily living activities. They provide meals and offer activities. Assisted Living Communities must be licensed by the state.
The Following are the types of AL communities:
• Type A - a resident must be able to mentally and physically be capable of evacuated the community unassisted.
• Type B – a resident may be incapable of following directions under emergency conditions & therefore requires assistance to evacuate.
• Type C – Four-bed community.
MEMORY CARE is a unit within a larger community or can be a free-standing community. These communities are designed for residents with Alzheimer’s or memory disorders.
SKILLED NURSING/ PHYSICAL REHAB provide 24-hour care with a hospital like attention to residents in a community environment. Level of services can vary. They may offer short-term or long-term care.
SENIOR SERVICES is a general term that includes an array of services for seniors. Different types of services may include: home health care services, sitting services, durable medical equipment (DME) and transportation. Page 11
