rock out this summer School of Rock’s four summer camps are designed as performance boot camps, just like its performance program, but condensed into one week. Rockers come in to rehearse and learn their songs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 626 S. Range Line Rd., Carmel, and put on a show at the end of the week. The day is a mix of group rehearsals and private instruction, as well as short bursts of games and other activities. Each camp costs $500. For more information call 848-7685 or visit http://carmel.schoolofrock.com.

Performance Boot Camp (Beginner) – Even if you’ve never picked up an instrument before, you will be rocking out at a live performance by the end of camp. Open to students ages 7 and older who are beginners on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard or vocals. Sessions: June 16-20 and July 14-18. Beatles! Performance Boot Camp (Intermediate-Advanced) – This camp is for Beatle-maniacs and those who have only heard Yellow Submarine. At the end of the week, students put on a live performance of rehearsed Beatles songs. Open to students who are intermediate to advanced on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. Session: July 7-11. Music Video Camp – Have you ever watched a music video and wished you were

in it? Ever played a song at School of Rock and wish you could create a music video to go along with it? Here’s your chance. This camp consists of two days of rehearsing the song of the week, one day of recording that song, and the final two days of filming the video on location. This camp is open to current School of Rock students in one of the intermediate to advanced performance groups. The final video is viewed Aug. 1 during a combined premier with Songwriter Camp members. Session: July 14-18.

Songwriting Camp – This camp will focus on the creative and musical process of

writing a song. Students will collaborate to come up with a theme, lyrics and music to their very own original song. The song is recorded and students take home a copy. This is the first time we’ve offered a songwriting series, but certainly won’t be the last. This camp is for current School of Rock students in an intermediate to advanced performance group. Session: July 28-Aug. 1.
