Leadership for All Ages A Train the Trainer Workshop This two day workshop qualifies trainers to facilitate Leadership for All Ages, a 30 hour training program that is designed to engage all generations in solving critical community problems. The Leadership for All Ages training program is intentionally focused on supporting community change efforts that are life-span focused and promote interdependence across generations. The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish. It encourages the recognition of “shared fate” and promotes communities that are good for growing up and growing older. It is currently being implemented through public schools/senior center partnerships, university/community collaboratives, community development corporations, community centers, neighborhood associations, and other nonprofits across the country. This 2 day train the trainer program will help participants learn strategies for employing an intergenerational approach to teaching community organizing, team building, problem solving, conflict management and other leadership skills. Participants will also gain concrete techniques for building trust and engagement across age, race, ethnicity and other common divides in a community. All train the trainer sessions are led by professionals from Temple University’s Intergenerational Center who are experienced in intergenerational leadership development and group facilitation.

Who should attend:

This program is designed for people who have training/facilitation skills and are interested in: • using this training to enhance community building efforts • developing inclusive practices that result in increased civic participation among multiple generations • leveraging the assets of people at all stages of life • increasing trust and interaction between community leaders and residents of different generations

Content:

The train the trainer package includes: 1. Pre-training: a two-hour webinar covering recruitment of multi-generational groups of participants, development of an appropriate training structure for the ten modules, and recommended planning for the training . 2. Two day on-site training: • A comprehensive review of the curriculum and key training techniques for each module. The curriculum is written at an 8th grade literacy level, and can be delivered in community settings in ten 3-hour sessions or modified into other formats. • Strategies for dealing with common challenges that emerge within multi-generational groups. • Strategies for linking training to existing community building efforts. • Experiential “teach back” sessions. 3. Post-training phone consultation: 2 hours of phone-based technical assistance.

Program Costs:

$6,000 plus trainer’s travel and expenses: Includes pre-training webinar, two days on site training, two hour telephone technical assistance and one year renewable licensing fee for curriculum. Discounts available for smaller organizations with limited budgets and community groups. Please inquire for details.
