WANNA BE STARTIN SOMETHING? by: Phyllis Sinclair Life is comprised of transitions. If transition never occurred life would have been boring and stagnated. We all will agree that as transitions are made there will also be changes.
Being followers of Christ we would definitely need to consult God concerning what we want to do; He will direct our path if we allow Him to do so. Proverbs 3 vs 5 & 6 says ―Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding and in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path.‖
The challenges of starting something new:-
Transitioning from Secondary School to Tertiary School
Starting something new can be quite a challenge. First you must have a clear knowledge of what you are about to start then you will have to decide where, how and when to start, Thomas Fuller says ―Zeal without knowledge is like fire without light‖. 1
What comes to mind when you think about tertiary school? I have no money; I can not afford it I am not even sure what field of study to take on I do not think I will manage; college life it is too hard.

EDITOR’S NOTE
Narda Lawful -Simpson
The newsletter concept was born out of the Parks Road New Testament
Church of God‘s youth board, with the core target being the youths. The passion we share as a board for our youths has now become a tangible venture, in that, we aim to use this medium as one for maximizing and developing the use of our young talent and intellect, as well as offering wholesome Christian guidance, shaping young minds and fulfilling that sense of purpose in the lives of our young people. This newsletter will be published bimonthly. Fun, exciting, current, captivating, ―down to earth‖ all befits our newsletter‘s name ―UTH VIBRATIONZ (UV)‖ and our young people may put it like this ―Mi LIKE IT‖,‖IT A HAPPEN- YEAH‖. All this defines the image and tonality of the newsletter. It‘s the eve of a new school and church year, so what better season than this to look forward to our ―NEW BEGINNINGS‖. So, with that said our ‖UV‖ team has put together an exciting package marked with a lead story based on our theme plus our featured love story. When you need to full your cup—spiritually that is, have a quick read of ―The Word For the Month‖ titbit. At ―UTH VIBRATIONZ‖, we meet all your needs, so when chilaxing, check out ―Day Brighteners‖, the ―UV Photo Scene‖ and of course – it may be time to get your fashion sense checked with ―What‘s Hot & What‘s Not‖. In upcoming issues you‘ll be able to get advice on your concerns, catch a short story as well as share your views, as this is ―UTH VIBRATIONZ – The Voice of the Youths‖

Continued from page 1 These might be some of the concerns of your heart but God cares about every aspect of your life. ―Your goals are the maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life‖ (Les Brown). Therefore if your goal is to get a degree then you must keep that goal in mind and sooner or later the impossibilities will become possibilities. Associate yourself with positive influential people who can help you move towards your goals and making the right decisions. Moving from a secondary to a tertiary school brings excitement, enthusiasm and uncertainty; in essence there will be mixed feelings. As the transition is made, adjustment to changes is inevitable. Firstly, the environment is different at the university level, as there is a greater sense of maturity. Hence, you will need to make adjustments in order to survive within this environment. ‗How can I adjust?‘, might be your question. Firstly, you must now recognize the type of environment you‘re in and know what is expected and keep that in the forefront of your mind. Secondly, you must stay focus and associate yourself with people that are making strides to do well and make a difference. University is not a place where you feel like you‘re all grown up now and anything goes; it is quite the contrary. This is where you will have to become more responsible. Why? There is no ―spoon feeding‖, there will be no one pressuring you for homework, no one reminding you of your deadlines. You will have to make up your own roster and schedule your workload and ensure that you are staying on par with what is expected.
At university the teaching and grading style is very different. You might be faced with the difficulty of understanding the material that is given, the way you answer the questions for exams and writing a research paper. Reason: you are now at university and you must now write and respond like a university student; one that has gone to a new level. To this you will have to make significant adjustment to meet your teachers‘ expectations. You will have to work twice as hard but over time this will come. It‘s not necessary for you to be afraid of the challenges that will come with the transition. Challenges are good and you will find that you eventually learn and live to appreciate them. Find someone who have gone through this transition and seek their advice. Let me challenge you with the words of Dexter Yager ―You will never leave where you are until you decide where you want to be‖. Go for it!

MEET YOUR PASTOR—Bishop Cleo Ellis PASTOR It is with profound joy that I write to commend this initiative to launch this newsletter ― Uth Vibrationz.‖ The team of persons who have advanced this drive are worthy of commendations. At a time when young people are easily distracted and mislead, it is good to know that there are still viable and socially acceptable materials for our young minds. We must not loose hope in our young generation; they possess the necessary fortitude to take this church and the nation to a better and brighter future.
I believe all people are equal in the sight of God and are enveloped with an insatiable diet for progress if given the opportunity so to do.
About Bishop Ellis
My favorite food is porridge and my favorite color is blue.
From the humble hills of Wilsons Run in the parish of Trelawny, hails this young vibrant servant of God. I am a past student of the Wilsons Run All-Age and Holmwood Technical High Schools. It was there I met my beautiful and charming bride Miriam Peart. We were married on the 18th December 1993. 3
As a pastor, I love people, love the gospel and love God. When these three are combined it provides for me an unequivocal atmosphere and appetite to serve people at all levels. Currently, I hold a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Theology. The journey to Parks Road has been rough, but thank God I have made it. I will expand on the journey next time.
May the peace of God be with those who have contributed to this newsletter and may His blessings continue to reign in your lives.
and then he began preaching and proclaiming Christ in the Synagogues.
WORD FOR THE MONTH
It is so amazing what the Lord can do when He invades one's life. Do you want a new beginning in your life? Do you want a change both physically and spiritually? The time is now, ask the Lord to ignite His fire in your soul and burn out what is not of Him, where you can have a fresh start.
By: Dorothy Smith
Acts 9 records the story of Saul of Tarsus a violent persecutor of the Church. He began an all-out campaign to destroy the Churches of Jesus Christ. He had no respect for neither the Lord or any other persons. One day he set out on his journey to persecute the Church, but he was apprehended by the Lord Jesus Christ, "...... suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven, and he fell on the ground...." v 3&4. He was converted right there and that was a new beginning for him. His name was changed from Saul to Paul .
If you are willing to have a new beginning ask the Lord to renew and revive you and to call you back from spiritual deadends that only lead to apathy and lukewarm religion.
ADJUSTING TO LIFE IN CHRIST (continued from pg. 3) Adjusting to life in Christ is hard; it is a whole new world but you can do it. You will have to keep in mind that the way you use to live cannot continue if you want to live for God. To commit your life to God the first turning point is to believe. You must believe God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. The second turning point is to know and do the will of God. Without faith in God, you will make the wrong decision at this first critical turning point. If you choose to make this adjustment, you are on right track to obedience and will experience God as He accomplishes His work through you. However, refusal to make the necessary adjustments to your life and lifestyle, may cause you to miss what God has in store for you. At the very least you will slow His blessings upon you and retard your own spiritual growth. In other words you will live an unfulfilling life - a foolish believer. Faith and action is required to accomplish the will of God. Once you have come to believe God, you will demonstrate your faith by what you do. Once you have adjusted your life to Him, His purposes, and His ways, you are in a position to obey. Adjustments prepare you for obedience. You cannot continue life as usual or stay where you are, and go with God at the same time. That is true throughout Scripture. Luke 14:33 "Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple." You may be thinking: "But God will not ask me to make major adjustments." If you look to the scripture for your understanding of God, you will see that God most certainly will require adjustments of His people. God even required major adjustments of His own Son. Turn to II Cor. 8:9 - READ. Jesus emptied Himself of position and wealth in heaven in order to join the Father in providing redemption through His death on the cross; that was a major adjustment.

A NEW BEGINNING?
By: Choye Chan
Independence is said to be achieved when there is freedom from control or influence of another or others. In February 1962, a new constitution was approved by the Legislation and the Premier Norman Manley called General Elections. It was then that Alexander Bustamante was elected in April and became the first Prime Minister of Jamaica. Forty eight (48) years ago on August 6, 1962, Jamaica became an independent nation and a member of the British Commonwealth. Jamaica becoming an independent nation now meant that Britain, no longer controlled the affairs of the country. It was now the responsibility of the newly elected Prime Minister and the locally elected Cabinet. Independence also meant that a constitution, symbols, emblems, an army, Jamaican currency and passports had to be developed for the country.
Freedom through the law of God. Loving obedience to God's law is not an effort to attain salvation by works, but an honest, heartfelt response to want to serve and please the great God of the universe who gave His spiritual laws for our own well-being.
Ultimately, true freedom or independence comes through the resurrection at Christ's return. As Paul explains in Romans 8:21, "the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the Children of God.‖ Scenes from Emancipation Day Service at Parks Road New Testament Church of God.
As an Independent nation, Jamaica assigns ambassadors overseas who represent the country. They sign treaties on behalf of Jamaica and become members of various international organizations. This is important as it gives Jamaica equal rights on various issues relating to international trade, policies and treaties. Every year on August 6, (previously first Monday in August), Jamaicans celebrate the removal of our dependence on Britain to control specific functions of the country. At this time we also honor all those persons who were responsible for the transfer of power. So it is also when we become Christians we are free from the control of sin and are representatives of Him everywhere we go. Christ came to free us from sin through His atoning sacrifice and Hebrews 2:14-15 tells us that Jesus "shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil-and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death" (New International Version). The scriptures do show, however, that real spiritual Parks Road New Testament Church‘s Emancipation Day Service was the brain child of our very own freedom has to include: Bro. Patrick Barrett. It signifies Christ‘s Liberation for Freedom through God's truth. According to sinners.
Christ, a person can't be spiritually free unless he has the truth, which is God's Word (John The service is about bringing our reflection back to our heritage and to give us an appreciation of what 17:17). our heroes did for us similar to what Christ did.
Freedom through the Holy Spirit. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Now the Lord is the Spirit; Christ sent His Son so that we could, through His death have a NEW BEGINNING. and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." And finally, 8

UV LYRICS CLOSE TO YOU By: Kevin Downswell Sitting right here all alone thinking of you, only you You on my mind, you in my heart But still I feel, that we’re so far apart Lord I feel so empty, I need to know Because I’ve prayed and poured out my heart What can I do to get close Chorus: Can I get close, close to you, closer to you? Can I get close, close to you, closer to you? (Verse) I want to cry, I want to scream But I don’t wanna die before I’m drawn close to you My heart is beating fast my hands are shaking But I’ll still wait I’ll receive by faith Yet I’m still eager to be drawn close to you (Repeat Chorus)
