Welcome to 2023!
After a successful 2022 where we re-started face to face teaching, ran a very successful early careers meeting and joint meeting with GMP and SPS, and where our membership contributed fantastic publications for our special issue of Xenobiotica, we are looking forward to a busy year.
There have been two changes to the committee since the last newsletter . We are pleased to welcome Claire Purdy, our apprentice committee member for 2022-2024 and would like to thank Sarah Armstrong for all the work she did as our previous apprentice. Claire is already busy organizing the next early careers meeting. Registration is open so if you would like to contribute, please get in touch. Caroline Rynn has also joined the Committee, bringing the number back up to seven.
We are also delighted to announce that Suzanne Iverson Hemberg has been appointed as a DMDG fellow for 2023. Suzanne is an accomplished scientist who has made many contributions to the DMDG over the years, and has been instrumental in building our excellent relationship with the SPS. Congratulations Suzanne for this well-deserved appointment!
From 11 14 June, we are excited to partner with the ISSX for the first time for a joint meeting in Hatfield, UK. The scientific program development is at an advanced stage and registrations will open imminently so look out for further communications on this. The 4th DMDG European Biotransformation workshop is also planned to take place in Hatfield immediately following the joint meeting.
Our training course program is busy for 2023, with five courses planned. The first of these is the redeveloped Chemistry Essentials for DMPK course, which we are delighted to have back after several years of absence. Registration is already open for the first four courses, so reserve your place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Finally, I’ll close by thanking all of you, our membership, for your continued support. The DMDG exists for all of you, so the committee is always happy to receive your feedback and any ideas you have. We periodically send out surveys so please provide your feedback when you see these as they areimportanttoustoshapethesocietygoingforward.
I wish you all a happy and successful 2023.
Best wishes, Alex
