his annual campaign has reached its silver anniversary and this year has the theme “Celebrating Our Pets” Pets are good for you! • They provide us with companionship, unconditional affection and are beautiful to look at. • Pet owners also tend to be healthier, showing less sick days, allergies, depression and heart disease. They recover more quickly from stressful events and heart attacks. • Children from pet-owning families have stronger immune systems, take fewer days off sick from school and are less likely to become obese. Pets help people For millennia, man has bred and trained dogs to herd, hunt, track and guard as sheep dogs, search and rescue dogs, police and sniffer dogs (bombs, drugs and sausage) still work today. However, training has now also been used to develop the close human-dog relationship to produce assistance dogs. The iconic Guide dog has been joined in the nation’s heart by Hearing dogs, Dogs for the Disabled and Hounds for Heroes. Specially trained dogs are now helping to improve the lives of autistic children and sufferers of epilepsy, diabetes, narcolepsy and severe allergies. They can warn of impending medical crises, bring treatment if needed and even find a policeman and give him an emergency information card! Using a small ball of pastry scraps, push the pastry into the ground nutmeg and season. When the case is ready, sprinkle corners of the tin. Chill in the fridge or freezer for 20 mins. Heat half the cheese over the base, scatter over the tomatoes and oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. bacon lardons, pour over the cream mix, then finally scatter over 3. In a small roasting tin, drizzle the tomatoes with olive oil and the rest of the cheese. Bake for 20-25 mins until set and golden season with salt and pepper. Put the tomatoes in a low shelf of brown. Leave to cool in the case, then remove from the tin. Serve the oven. in slices.
