MARCH URBAN DESIGN
SUBVERSIVE URBANISM Hong Kong’s power elite increasingly idealises the city’s position as the world’s freest economy, but financial turbulence, pressure from China and rising inequalities necessitate a re-evaluation of this elite. The project is framed as a social movement, where parasitic analogies and emerging, crowd-driven technologies are used to harness the strengths of people to instigate change within the city. Starting small and outside legal boundaries with events and occupations, the project ultimately leads to a new form of urban development that allows citizens to keep constructing their ideal city.

TRAFFIC ACCELERATOR
A NEW URBAN MODEL BASED ON RULES OF SPEED ACCELERATION Innovations in transport caused acceleration of traffic, allowing cities to expand and grow together into globally successful mega-regions. But benefits of acceleration are diminishing because of congested transportation systems: todays cities are continuous fields of urbanization, requiring a new urban model.
Project Project How to How achieve to achieve this goal? this goal? City model rulesonofrules speed acceleration. City based modelon based ofand speed and acceleration. The goal of the project lies beyond solving congestion problems: Model for a new type of urban structure, centred around the city’s flow and movement. The model describes the effects of accelerating traffic on the city’s infrastructure and morphology, allowing cities and mega-regions to scale up more.

FOUNDATION FOR ART EDUCATION
Between the old and new area of the center, in the city’s most culturally diverse street, Rotterdam’s foundation for art education builds a new headquarters.
Location: between old and new
The Program is diverse, leading to a fragmented building: from public (restaurant, library) at street level to private (music/theatre studios) in the towers. At the heart of the building are three squares: one public, for the city, one semi-public, for citizens to meet the foundation, one private, for performances and exhibitions.

PARK
Water treatment becomes a public attraction with a new park for the neighbourhood and the city. The park will be a festival of water canals, tree nurseries and bird spotting areas. It is meant to be a very relaxed recreational place where to enjoy and learn from nature at the same time.
