Bosphorus Cruise, Dolmabahce Palace and 2 Continents Tour

Visit the Dolmabahce Palace, the recent residence for Ottoman Sultans built by two Karabet and Nikogos Balyan on a 110,000m2 area composed of three sections; Selamlik allocated for state issues, the Harem (Seraglio) area designated for the private life of the sultan and his family, and the Parade Hall, the study and bedroom of Ataturk. Famous for its great collection of European antiquity, furniture and 4.5 tonne chandelier, this palace also has 285 rooms and 46 halls! Cross the Bosphorus bridge, a unique chance to step from one continent (Europe) to another (Asia) in 2 minutes. Also visit Camlica Hill or Yeditepe, exposing a panoramic view of Istanbul and Bosphorus. Lunch will be served at a Turkish Restaurant.

Monaco Grand Prix This is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Spectators delight in the raucous noise of the roaring engines as they speed along the Boulevard Albert 1er up toward the Casino and around the hairpin turn in front of the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Overtaking is next to impossible so qualifying in Monaco is more critical than at any other Grand Prix. The Portier corner is key to achieving a good lap time around Monaco. It is preceded by the Loews hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula One, and followed by the tunnel, one of the few flat-out sections of the track.

Your Itinerary 28 May ‘13 Fly UK to Calgary, Canada. Rest of day at your leisure. Overnight hotel stay in Calgary. 29 May ‘13 Calgary – Kamloops Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Calgary to Kamloops. Highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Overnight in Kamloops. 30 May ‘13 Kamloops to Vancouver Your journey continues west towards the coastal city of Vancouver. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Overnight in Vancouver. 31 May ‘13 Transfer from hotel to port to board ms Amsterdam and depart 1 Jun ‘13 At Sea

2 Jun ‘13 Glacier Bay, Alaska The glaciers practically terminate in your lap. A cruise to Glacier Bay National Park with Holland America Line will show you a UNESCO World Heritage Site that protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an everchanging glacial landscape. 3 Jun ‘13 Skagway, Alaska Some of the aspiring Klondike gold rushers who made it to Skagway took a look at the 500-mile journey that still lay ahead of them and decided a change of profession was in order. So many of them set up shop as provisioners that Skagway was the largest city in Alaska by the end of the 19th century. 4 Jun ‘13 Juneau, Alaska Squeezed between the Gastineau Channel and Coast Mountains, Juneau offers a lot of variety in close proximity. The massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields are at its back door. The vast Tongass National Forest stretches away to the northeast. You can shop downtown or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, hike, whale watch, flightsee or fish.

5 Jun ‘13 Ketchikan, Alaska Ketchikan clutches the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many shops and houses built right out over the water. The stairways are weathered and the vibe is cheerful in the town that calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World. Besides the main attractions – Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village – try a flightseeing trip to Misty Fjords National Monument. 6 Jun ‘13 Inside Passage Cruising The fabled Inside Passage is one of the most scenic sea-lanes in the world, and one of the few where deep-draft vessels can sail close to steep mountain walls. The scenery is unbelievable, with forests in a hundred shades of green, tumbling turquoise glaciers, and evocative towns loaded with history, culture and adventure. 7 Jun ‘13 Arrive Vancouver and transfer to a 4* hotel for 2 nights - at your leisure If you could watch the history of Vancouver as a time-lapse movie, you’d see the creation of a sawmill and a community that grew up around it, which then became the townsite of Granville. Then comes the railroad, and development of the great natural harbor. Then: a sudden linkage to the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. Immigrants come, business blooms, and the skyscrapers rise up along Burrard Inlet, always with the mountains visible in the spaces between the buildings. Go for the galleries, boutiques, public markets, and restaurants of every flavor. Visit vibrant Chinatown and Stanley Park, with its 1,000 acres of forests, gardens, lakes and lawns in the heart of the city. 9 Jun ‘13 Transfer to airport for flight back to UK 10 Jun ‘13 Arrive UK

Your Itinerary

What a fantastic holiday we had. The group of 22 people who met at Beijing really jelled which made our cruise even better as there was always someone to chat to. The China part of the holiday was excellent-nothing was too much trouble for the tour operator. The national guide Cynthia, and the local guides Jason, Beijing and Arran in Xian all spoke excellent English and were very informative. Strangely the day in Beijing most of us thought the best was the visit to the park for our Tai Chi lesson and to watch all the locals enjoy keep fit sessions.

Kuala Lumpur has transformed over the last few decades into a thriving metropolis with spectacular architecture ranging from Menara KL to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers – the second-highest buildings in the world. Boasting some of Southeast Asia’s largest shopping malls and a colourful jumble of street markets, Kuala Lumpur is a retail paradise. Unlike many Asian cities, KL has retained a majority of its historical buildings and features numerous tranquil spots within the city centre itself including the lush green lung of Lake Gardens and the greenery of Tasik Titiwangsa. The city’s landscape is a blend of modernity and traditional charm, with hawker stalls and pre-war shop-houses alongside skyscrapers and sophisticated buildings. To put it briefly Kuala Lumpur is a gateway to a truly multihued Asian experience.

Cannes It is hard to believe that this glamorous haunt of the glitterati was once a sleepy fishing village, but traces of its past do remain. The old harbor of St Pierre still shelters a flotilla of fishing boats alongside the luxurious super yachts, and Le Suquet, the heart of the old town, is still is a cobbled maze of picturesque lanes.

24 May ‘14

St Tropez St. Tropez conjures up images of sun-drenched beaches, tanned bodies, and jet setters enjoying martinis on the decks of luxury yachts. Indeed it is a glamorous playground for the wealthy, but anyone can spend an afternoon at a sidewalk café, watching the spectacle unfold. For mesmerizing views, head up to the 16th century Citadel. Or stroll the old town, overflowing with restaurants, trendy boutiques, and galleries.

Every spring, sports car fans from around the globe descend on the Principality of Monaco to witness the Monaco F1 Grand Prix. The Monaco Grand Prix is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Like the Indy 500 or Le Mans, it stands alone, almost distinct from the sport from which it was born. Some great names have ended their races in the barriers here, most notably Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

Dynamic Barcelona is all about architecture, from the magnificent medieval buildings of the Gothic Quarter to the Modernist movement typified by the work of Antoni Gaudi. His masterpiece is the amazing Church of the Sagrada Familia, colossal and as yet unfinished, though construction began in 1882

Portofino Picture a tiny town of pastel houses lining the shore of a small harbor full of sleek yachts, crowned by a castle and backed by verdant hills dotted with villas. Throw in charming waterside restaurants specializing in seafood, and a national park with miles of hiking trails among chestnut & olive groves.

Some great names have ended their races in the barriers here, most notably Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

Monte Carlo Includes ticket to Monaco Grand Prix The tiny principality of Monaco, a sovereign state of just under one square mile, has an outsized resume, boasting some of the planet’s most expensive real estate, and the world’s most prestigious casino. Facing the sea, and engulfed on the other three sides by France, it has been the domain of the Grimaldi dynasty since the 14th century, and enjoys the same glamorous reputation as the rest of the Riviera.
