Newborn Portrait Session

Your Newborn Portrait Session: Nothing in the world means more to you than your new addition. I only offer the safest and most natural poses. You will not find me hanging a newborn in a sac from a stork’s mouth. Baby will be posed on hand-selected natural and neutral blankets and props.
Newborn Portrait Sessions are two-fold.
The Complimentary Mini Maternity Session: First, is the i n-studio consultation and complimentary Mini Maternity Session when mom is 32-36 weeks, followed the Newborn Portrait Session once baby is born. The Consultation and complimentary Mini Maternity Session is a time set aside for you to come i n and l ook at and feel all my wraps, blankets, props, and baskets. It is also the time where we can take your in-studio Complimentary Maternity Portraits (You will receive 6 edited digital images). The Complimentary Mini Maternity Session is about 30 minutes, and I have a lovely selection of gowns for y ou to try on, I can wrap you in tulle, or you can wear your favourite outfit. Included i n your Mini Maternity Session are the choice of two backdrops. Options are: ‘bone’, ‘black’, ‘dream-lighting’ (lit from behind), or the bed headboard. If you book within 48 hours of receiving this Welcome Guide, y ou are offered a third backdrop. (you will still receive six digital images).
~ If you prefer to only have the Newborn Session and not take advantag e of the complimentary Maternity Session, I reduce your chosen Imag e Collection by $75.
Baby is here!! Once baby is born, you come back to my studio for your Newborn Portrait Session. This Sessions typically takes about 3 hours to allow for the baby’s nursing and soothing needs. It is important to have your Newborn Portrait Session in the first two weeks of baby’s life ~ ideally 5-8 days new! This is when they are still curly and sleepy and they don’t mind you moving them around from pose to pose while they rest i n dreamland! For your comfort, I have a parent’s area with a comfy settee, a coffee and tea stati on, magazines, and wi-fi. For your baby’s comfort, I have a white-noise maker and a heater so your babe will be comfy and cozy. I also have extra diapers, wipes, and change table for your convenience. I typically move the baby through three different blankets, flokati set-ups, and a series of baskets and props, if parents or siblings would like to be in images, we can definitely do that, too! If baby does not want to settle into a pose, we simply move on to the next set-up or pose. The Newborn Session is a joint effort – ahead of time, we discuss the col ours and props you’d like me to incorporate. I custom style and determine the flow of the session, and baby lets me know when to move on. I will send you further information about our Session upon the completion of our booking.

BIG BABY

Six months is one of my very favourite stages! When babies start sitting, they see the world from a whole new perspective, and are so engaging! Six month sessions are full of smiles, giggles, and drool! Big Baby and Family Sessions are interchangeable. We have an hour together, and you can choose whether we dedicate the hour to your little one(s), or whether you want to capture your whole family together.
Cake Smash A Cake Smash is a fun way to celebrate baby’s first birthday (and your birthing-day). Cake Smash Sessions are essentially Big Baby Sessions with the bonus of a CAKE SMASH and sudsy bubble bath. You can expect a variety of image of your little one from all three set-ups!!
Turning ONE? Let’s celebrate! Bring in your favourite toy, wear your favourite outfit, and let’s showcase your new skills! Walking or crawling, I can keep up!
BEFORE AND AFTER THE SESSION: SESSION: To begin our relationshi p, we have been in touch either on the phone or via email (which is how you ended up with this!). Once we have made the decision to work together, I will send you a copy of my Photography Contract for you to sign electronically, and I request your deposit to hold your spot. For a Newborn Portrait Session, we use the complimentary Mini Maternity Session as a way of getting comfortable with each other and we can go over blanket and prop choices. Your complimentary Mini Maternity Portrait Session is about 30 minutes – the first twenty dedicated to capturing images, the remaining ten dedicated to discussing your vision for your Newborn Session. For a Family or Big Baby Portrait Session, we discuss via email, your clothing options, backdrops, and props for little ones. Within a day or two of your session a ‘teaser’ will be posted on my facebook page (optional). This is a great opportunity to ‘tag’ yourself and get your friends and family excited to see the images we captured. Within two weeks of your session, I will advise you that your images are all edited and ready for you. As a creative artist, I will select the images that best represent your session as present them to you as your complete gallery.

Frequently Asked Questions: When should I book my Newborn Portrait Session? The earlier the better! I only offer a limited number of Sessions per month and I have had to turn clients away.
Why should baby be 5-8 days at the time of their Session? Newborns are most curly and sleepy in the first week. Mom’s milk has usually come in by d ay four, and after about ten days, babes are more accustomed to our touch and flinch a lot more making posing much harder.
What if I only want the Newborn Session and not the complimentary Maternity Session? If you prefer to only have the Newborn Session and take me up the complimentary Maternity Session, I reduce your chosen Imag e Collection by $75.
Can I have my Newborn Session at my house? No. My studi o is set up with professional equipment, lights, props, and blankets. I come in two hours before newborn Sessions to heat up the room so baby is comfortable, and I like to have control over my environment, and the images I produce.
If I book a Big Baby Session, then decide we want to include ourselves and sibling(s), is that ok? Yes, that is why Big Baby and Family Sessions are interchangeable!
