The Tam Kung Temple is one most historic temple in Hong Kong. It is also a landamark of fishing culture. Every year 30 th April there will be a parade in Shaukeiwan celebrating Tam Kung's birthday.

The district cultural centre located next to the Tam Reclaimed land in 1903-1928 Kung Temple. It is for chinese opera preformance aiming to revitalise Shaukeiwan. Shau Kei Wan is a historic district with the site located on a reclaimed land. There is an existing green belt near the coastal area. However, open space and greenery is insufficient for residents living in the inland area. Introducing natural elements as well as cultural features into the district are the major Site Analysis Mining History (Early-Mid-19th Century)
Evolvement of a Fishing Village (Mid-Late-20th century)
Shau Kei Wan, or “Soo-Ke-Wan”, located next to A Kung Ngam (A quarry operated in the mid-19th century), was also marked as a
Shau Kei Wan (‘Shau Kei’ means pail and ‘Wan’ means bay) provided a haven for ships that sailed into Victoria Harbour and served as a
Transportation Development (1980s) With the continuous development of Shau Kei Wan, the traffic flow gradually increased, resulting in very congested roads. The situation was particularly severe during the construction of the Hong Kong Island Line in the first quarter of 1982. Not until the completion of the
objectives for the project, while the Shau Kei Wan typhoon shelter is the source of the design concept.

The false ceiling is used to enhance the verticality of the building; while timber as the interior material gives the indoor cafe a sense of intimacy.

Visual connection is achieved with the opening at the lower wall, while sun shaing device is installed at the South for better climatic control.

Various playful elements are includeded in the design: a 2-storey net, light wells created by void space and trees, playgrounds paved in different materials, and a feature wall reserving cozy space for people to sit inside while allowing visual connection to the adjacent avenue.
