Infant Development Behavioral problems in babies result in negative emotionality and dif ficult temperament in their development. Babies with emotionality problems at age 3 are more likely to have been exposed to negative emotions from parents. It is impor tant for parents to raise their children with positive emotions so they can develop properly. (Pauli-Pott, Mer tesacker, & Beckmann, n.d.)


“Baby-Boom” Cohort The “Baby-Boom” cohor t occurred post- World War II. Approximately 71 million babies were born between the years 1946-1964.


John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory The vulnerability of children results in them attaching to caregiver. A close bond is formed between them and can result in either positive or negative development.  Secure Attachment: Occur when separated from caregiver and when reunited, want to be close with them.  Avoidant Attachment: Infant tends to ignore when caregiver leaves and returns.  Resistant-Ambivalent Attachment: Caregiver is sought for comfort and attention and rejects.  Disorganized- Attachment: Seen in infants that have been mistreated by their caregivers. (Hardy, n.d.)


Average Life-Expectancy Currently in the United States the average life expectancy is almost 79 years. This number keeps rising with more and more medical improvements being made. For reference, the average life expectancy in the US in 1960 was almost 70 years old.


Sleep Deprivation and Psychology Sleep is impor tant in the way people think, feel and act ever yday. The right amount of sleep is essential for functioning physically and emotionally. Sleep plays a key role for children to be able to develop and grow properly. If children are deprived of their sleep they tend to have higher stress levels and emotional problems.(Gruber, 2013)


Role Conflict When an individual is caught between work and family roles, and has dif ficulty par ticipating in both equally. Sometimes work takes a priority over family time which can lead to fights within the family.


Retirement Early 60’s used to be when people expected to retire. The age for retirement keeps getting pushed back due to insecurities in income from pensions or social security.


Physical Challenges of Old Age WebMD lists many health challenges of aging. They inluded: •

• Osteoporosis • Cancer • Mental Health/Memor y • Teeth health All of these things become more common as we age.


Anxiety and stress shorten lifespan “High levels of anxiety can shor ten lifespan by up to six years� By: John Phillip Telomeres in chromosomes are af fected by levels of anxiety and can deteriorate faster with higher levels of stress. The more telomeres deteriorate, the more prone they are to chronic disease such as cancer and dementia.
