SELLING 8 DONORS, 10 FALL HEIFERS AND 200 PREG. RECIPS
My wife Tina, really didn’t believe me when I said I was dispersing my genetics this spring. I have some very special people I confide with (one being Timmy Heckman, thanks man) at times and this idea was talked about a fair amount over the summer months and fast forward here we are. As many of my closer peers know, my decisions or ideas are far from conventional. We have had very successful bred heifer sales from 2003-2012. Some very significant on-line sales starting with BW,CW then SC and now with STEERBIDDER. We were some of the first to try and market our frozen genetics which then led to the idea of selling pregnant recips with our genetics. That idea was a little far fetched but I saw no better way to “spread” our genetics by an affordable means to customers literally all across the states. The one story that will be told for years to come will be the purchase made by my football buddy Adam Pryor. Adam bought 3 Whitey x IGWT pregnancies for a total of $11,000. During his September pasture sale, he sold them for $33k, $21K and $16K. Fast forward to January 2024, Lot 1 was emotionally slapped the Grand Champion Steer at the NWSS & RODEO for a young man from Ree Heights, SD! Congrats Croix Reimann.... It is why we do it RIGHT????
God bless!
SO, HERE WE ARE! WHY AM I SELLING OUT?? Very simple, I am tired, I need a little break. Am I done?? No. Temporarily, Yes! The cattle are good, they are bred right, they are genetically tested, they are PROVEN but most importantly they sell well and have done a little winning the past 20 years. I’m only 52 years old but want this to be a business that my son Nick or even my daughter Carmyn (no offense Ryley, but the flys will always be around the cattle) want to come home to! We are a very sports driven family and this fall/winter will be a lot of fun watching Nick, Carmyn and joining Ryley to go watch Johnny.
1987 IHSA CLASS 1A STATE QUARTER FINALSDAM: 208 (WHO MADE WHO X TROUBADOUR X MCKAY 5005)
DUE ANYDAY, BRED TO 1/2 BLOOD SIMMY BULL
I always feel a person should give thanks when necessary, and at this time I would like to give thanks to Caleb Streitmatter and Todd Kennedy. These two gentlemen extended me the invitation to the 2022 EXCHANGE SALE. In my usual fashion, I got my picture and write-up to Todd the day of printing. They asked if I would offer something pretty special for the cattle division and, after a long deliberation, I came up with 1/2 interest and no possession of a young cow I called WHITEY. I wanted to make a statement and leave an impression with people that I honestly had never done business with, and I feel I accomplished my goal. Whitey quickly became a household name after demanding $38,500 for half-interest, going to Dustin Glover of Lawton, OK. Fast forward, we intend to make another statement by offering this full sibling to Whitey who we call SUZY Q. This cow is owned in partnership with my friend Larry Serven, and since we are dispersing I asked if we could dissolve this partnership as well. Obviously this cow has been tested, THC DSC, regardless of these results there are a plethora of sires available to raise show steers of the utmost quality in large volume. Or you can be like Larry and throw caution into the wind and use sires like HGTA & HL STANDOUT! I will leave it at this, they are good, no they are better than good, they are PHENOMENAL! Make an investment into one of the most elite cow families in the entire industry March 24TH. She will not disappoint.
OPEN READY TO FLUSH
Spot, might not be the “household” name yet, but I will wager that come September the lucky owner of her will look like the smartest person on the planet. This young 3 year old’s pedigree is stacked as deep as any individual we have ever sold at HCC. Her sire, Pandamonium, is a Monopoly x Panda, and her dam is a bad-ass red paint owned by Austin Garner. She is a Bates x 208. I feel there are two cows people associate HCC with; Panda and 208. As you read through our sale notes you will quickly realize those are the ONLY TWO cow families here. Also, Bates is the maternal grandsire to Panda, making this beautiful yellow roan female just a little more special. Sires like Perfection, BDR and Amazing Grace will most likely flood the sale pens next fall, so be sure to own Spot and a handful of the recips carrying the best we have ever offered. The genetic scatter here won’t spread very far. I will guarantee that or your $ back!
Another partnership cow with Mark Hebert and Shawn Ramirez of Oklahoma. These boys quite possibly brought the second or third best cow we ever raised. Her name is BLACKJACK, a Firewater x 208 daughter. The story goes like this: we drove through the night in mid July 2022 to look at Blackjacks first crop of HIA and MAB calves. It was 110 degrees, and my co-pilot took a wrong turn so 16 hours later, we made it. Seventeen hours later we were headed home. It took one pass through the pasture to witness greatness. I thanked Mark for his hospitality and said we would figure details out later, just get them headed to Roseville - ASAP. Silver is special. Only in a dispersal do animals like this get offered up for sale. There are no strings attached either, someone will own 100% of her. There are good cattle, there are great cattle and then there are cattle like SILVER!
#111 might be known as Silver’s little sister, but I will say this about her, her ability to generate is already off the charts. Her first litter of calves by Front N Center are incredible. We had four heifers born up here, and Rawely & Megan McFarland of Texas had 3 bulls down there. When a cow can truly stamp a litter of calves as such, it speaks volumes of their genetic capabilities. If you like them like I do - moderate, chunky, stout and cool as hell - you need to pay extra close attention to this one. MAB cows are great females. Then throw in the 208 factor, and you are in an even different category of club calf production.
I would like to introduce you to the senior member of the donor pen. 1502 has always been special to me. Sired by our once famous No Remorse bull and out of our old donor known as Laila (Ali x Panda), 1502 is royalty to some that still appreciate our “older” genetics. However old or dated some might think the pedigree is, when cows can raise steers of the quality 1502 did this past year, you quickly realize some things never go out of style. Take a closer look below at her HIA steer, Joe, just recently sold. Endless breeding options here. I can not think of one person who has ever had a bad experience with the Panda genetics. Own a piece of history.
SELLS OPEN, READY TO FLUSH
Of course every sale you get the question, “what is the best cow” or “which one you like best?” If you are reading this closely SILVER and PRIMO #2 are the best ones. Primo is rooted deep in our best bloodlines and the mother of three or four fall borns here and at McFarlands that will stand the hair on the back of your necks. Cattle bred like her are NOT suppose to look like her. However, no other Primo x Daddy Money cows have Panda as a grandmother. If it says Primo 2 in the tag, you better make it a point to own one or all of them! There are nearly 12 recips due in October with heifer pregnancies by GAIG, BANKROLL & MATERNAL MADE! What else can I say or do to excite the masses??
SELLS OPEN, READY TO FLUSH
My son Nick is offering up one of his two cows. So it just hit me, he is not dispersing....Sweetie is as nice of a strip faced black baldy as there is out there. She is a maternal sister to Spot. A Brilliance x Bates x 208. This cow most likely has more genetic capabilities than any other one in the sale. You can raise Simmys, Maines or Club Calves. This cow will grow on you, I promise. Only 4 years old with her whole life ahead of her. Ready to breed right now for a bid stout January baby.
SELLS OPEN, READY TO FLUSH
My personal favorite, BUGS! As many of you know some animals just have big personalities and BUGS is one of those. Aside from that, she is also the most fertile cow in the offering. She might end up being the highest revenue generator of the group. Her HIA calves were awesome, but it will be the IGWT that test the markets, just wait and see. I’m a big believer in hunches, and I had a hunch IGWT would work. That is why I made alot of them, so everyone can share in the $$. Plus for a little different twist, we made a couple GINGERS and MATERNAL MADES in September and October. This cow will not disappoint, regardless how high your standards are.
This red paint MAB leads off our open heifer division and does so in pretty dramatic fashion. She stems from the Peaches donor cow owned by our great friend, Tiffany Schultz of Shattuck OK. This animal exemplifies what our program is all about. Building females that have extreme curb appeal, genetics that are nearly impossible to duplicate and a quality about them that will allow you to mate them in many different ways. The sky is the limit here folks.
I said in #111’s footnotes that she was special and special cows raise special calves. The genetic pool behind this little Front n Center heifer is really, really deep to say the least. I had this mating on my mind since I returned home from that 34 hour round trip to Oklahoma in ‘22. Not only did it work, it worked better than I ever dreamt of. The vast display of color and quality is unreal. You will be bidding on the 6th generation of elite cows (1st:Begalka
If red or black is not your thing, #111 also had a cool silver n white paint in that litter. I feel it is pretty safe to say the odds are in your favor of raising some pretty unique steer calves when you start with females of this quality and pedigree.

#6 is one of my faves and for good reason - she is GOOD! Throw the TH test out the window. When young cattle have the body and muscle like her it will lead to big things. You have a building block from which to start. You take a heifer like #6, rub the TH off with a sire like Maternal Made, and position yourself with bulls like HIA, HGTA or NWO. It might sound too easy, but in reality it is that easy, I promise. I’m only a phone call away to discuss these and other ideas when it comes to my thoughts on breeding.
#19 is one extremely high quality, high headed rock star. She will be the front pasture kinda donor in a couple years. As level and square in design, with a jaw dropping shoulder, neck and head as there is in the entire sale offering folks. A lot of people ask about her for sure!
This FMC is Mike Huston’s kind PERIOD! I’ve never raised a unicorn, but we were getting close. Cattle like her are not suppose to come back with a TH clean test from what I’ve been told. Earp #40, Bates, 4112, Panda, Baby D and Primo #2, the entire 27 year history is right here in this heifer. She is the real deal and you can own her Sunday, March 24th.
DAM: WHITEY (MONOPOLY X 208)
Gather around folks, one of only 3 heifers in existence. Full sib in blood to maybe THE Show Steer of the year? Croix Reimanns 2024 National Western Grand Champion. If you want them a little more expressive in their shape and muscle design, look no further. Also, Whitey is now owned by Jake Hovaden and Rawley McFarland, and I doubt they go to raising many heifer replacements anytime soon if you are picking up what I’m dropping. This one is a creature just like her big brother.
SIRE: IN GOD WE TRUST
DAM: SILVER (HERE I AM X BLACKJACK(FIREWATER X 208))
The first of the two Silver x IGWT heifers. These two young ladies bring a whole new level of genetic advancement to the table for our customer base. Tying the 208 cow family together with HIA and IGWT in a breeding package was our goal, and it worked like a charm. Now take these daughters home, find the red bull of your choice and get after it. Elite show steers are only one generation away. The genetics are totally stacked in the new owners corner here!
The tag #9 is ALWAYS slotted for the special one around here. A TH & DS free IGWT X HIA daughter, that my friends is simply dumb luck! Maybe more fate than luck? There is always a story behind the special ones, and who ever buys #9 will be on their way to writing their chapter in club calf history. This is a very high caliber heifer calf with nothing but purple stacked in her genetic background. You are buying our best with cattle like her. No other way to put it!
DAM:
Our final lot of live cattle is the Bates x IGWT x Panda daughter. I mentioned in Sweetie’s footnotes, my son Nick owned two cows, Sweetie & Diamond. Nick elected to keep Diamond so I said, “you have to sell her Bates’ daughter”. This animal has brought the whole thing full-circle in some respects. Diamond is the last calf ever born out of the much beloved Panda cow, and it made me feel pretty darn good that my son had the sincerity to keep her versus having a potentially pretty nice payday. #SPECIALANIMALTOME!

I have a long list of people that I need to thank for igniting my passion of added value cattle. My first experience was having the fortune of buying 18 virgin heifers from Bob & Cathy Dwyer in 1991 followed up by the purchase of 23 more in 1992. This venture was very short-lived as BCD decided to disperse in Congerville, IL at Les Reels facility in 1993. What a baptism I received in the Show Steer business by some great people. Not only was my venture extremely profitable but we also had the great fortune of raising the most noted display bull at the National Western Stock Show in 1993. The bull FRANCHISE (Total Play son)was purchased by none other than the Bobby May.
Fast forward through my college years at Illinois, BS ‘93 and Western Illinois, MS ‘95 to October of 1997 when I purchased a set of virgin heifers from David Ray, Mark Ray and Jim Bloomberg of Berwick, Illinois. And as luck would have it, one of those females RF GOLDDIGGER (Meyer 734 x Draft Pick) mated very well to the club calf GOAT Who Made Who and raised a bull born in 2000 later named CHEAP TRICK who was purchased and displayed in Denver by the team of Brad Hook, Todd Caldwell and Mark Ray!
While the recognition of raising such an elite animal was significant to my start. It was another genetic success in 2000 that really started the unique bloodlines at Huston Cattle Co. I had the opportunity to start AI breeding some of the most unique Shorthorn cross cows in the entire country. Little did anyone know back then of the TH PHA & DS. As luck would have it we raised a non affected Double Vision red roan steer exhibited by Stetson Copus and was slapped Champion Shorthorn in 2002 at the Fort Worth Stock Show. In that flush was also an individual now known as BATES, whose mother G40 was born in 1980, yes that made her 20 years old. Ironically, BATES, was later found a TH DS & PHA CARRIER. So a little club calf history these recessive genes have been creeping around for many, many years.
