Trail riding in the Pferdereich MĂźhlviertler Alm

www.pferdereich.at

Horseback riding as far as the eye can reach! The horse paradise Mühlviertler Alm: these are more than 700 km of marked riding paths and 50 pleasant horse stops along the way accompanied by comfortable hostels for riders and horses to relax and enjoy. Away from the typical tourist routes quiet-seekers will discover and enjoy a wonderful landscape. Like lifelines the extensive trails of the marked system of riding paths run through this region. Dense forests, babbling brooks and rolling hills – trail riding in all its originality, and at it’s best. It’s a special region in Austria – here, north of the Danube. A little fresher, a little more hilly, a little more traditional than other regions in Austria.

Orientation Looking for the most beautiful places or the next stop for their horses Ë— the trail riders always find what they are looking for with the help of the detailed map of the riding trails at hand. This is ensured by the signposts that accompany horse and rider like mute companions. They provide the possibility to shorten or extend your journey. And should you go on different routs or overlook in full gallop the mark, you have gained for sure another outstanding experience at the end of your way. 3

Learning to ride – tips for beginners The varying landscape of the Mühlviertler Alm is ideal to spend your first hours in the saddle. The experienced riding instructors know the terrain in and out and are happy to introduce you to the commandments of trail riding. Thus, nothing prevents your instructive lessons in the middle of the original landscape in the Mühlviertel. Professional courses about horsemanship, ground work, orientation riding, dressage and vaulting as well as courses in western riding add to the large range of offers.

Romance on the coach box For you and your family and friends coach rides are a nature experience of one kind: outdoor in the fresh air and romantic with a touch of nostalgia. You experience the wonderful landscape of the Mühlviertler Alm with your horse and carriage, moving from one cozy accommodation to the next. To guarantee an accidentfree experience, our certified driving instructors stand by to give you a hand as needed.

Holidays with your own horse The beautiful landscape far away from the tourist routes pampers those who search for quietness. Everything is ideally prepared for a wonderful trail ride with your own horse in our region. All our Equestrian Tourism businesses provide board and lodging for your horses together with paddocks and grazing. Vets and farriers add to the well-organized infrastructure in the horse realm of the Mühlviertler Alm.

Places to relax and having a great experience Eight relaxing locations invite you to have a short break in-between guaranteeing a great experience for horse and rider. Here you can challenge yourself with obstacles and tricky riding tasks. To be active is the task in the “Extreme Trail Park” that challenges the horse with natural obstacles like logs, suspension bridges and balance beams. A good chance to train the sense of balance during a short stop. There is as well the “Springgarten Hinterwiese” that leaves no wishes with plenty of different water jumps and gates.

They know the requirements of shoeing horses for trail riding, as they understand that the bridle paths are quite challenging both for riders and horses. A well-fitting “shoe” is therefore very important for a perfect trail ride. Our trail riding map For a ride into the sunset, “Alm Cowboys” can consult the trail riding map for the Mühlviertler Alm. It is easily legible due to a scale of 1:35000, and once you’ve done the trail, you will have another experience under your belt. However, you should ensure that your horse does not travel without horseshoes or hoof boots!
