These objects were arranged on a scanner to create a strong compositional piece. Soft lines and blurring are natural effects that are created when using the scanner. To enhance features, small adjustment changes in Photoshop played the final role.

HANDS C OMP OS IT E N AT U R E ’ S H A N D S
Using a variety of images, the process of creating these hands was a fun experiment messing with blending layers and overlapping textures in Photoshop. Looking to inspiration from double exposures on a film camera, I wanted to play with boundaries and what you need to see to be able to recognize the hand as such. The branches become part of the arm which grows into a clearly visible human hand.

HIP S T E R FILT E R S 1 DOZEN ROSES
Magic happens where Photoshop steps in. Created by using blending modes and overlays, one image displays a variety of filters and a different style can be seen on the roses. The process was recorded with Photoshop actions in order to use the filters on different images.

C LIP P ING C HALLE NGE MORE MOJO
One thing is constant in my day: Mojo. This little Yorkie is a stylish pup with a passion for walks and bandannas. These images were clipped from their original environment and placed on the concrete of Mo’s favorite pastime. Handmade type gives the piece a little more character. I learned that practice and patience is the key for a successful clip.

Dallas Texas. The week after spring break led several students down to the Lone Star State for the NSSC conference. Days were spent eating tacos, running on little sleep and meeting talented individuals. This photo montage gives a glimpse into the trip of March 2015.

It’s a challenge to edit a picture of yourself. It forces you to embrace your flaws, however with the magic of Lightroom you can also enhance your features and hide those flaws! The simplicity of Lightroom makes it a great tool to use for anyone who wants to make their image stand out with small but successful changes. One important thing to remember about this process is the image you use should be high res, which makes the editing process go more smoothly.

LANDS C AP E M T. M A U R I C E
Lightroom was used to enhance this mountain landscape in my hometown of Red Lodge. This view is iconic to me because it represents my childhood–we would take this route to feed our horses not far from the house. Combining simple changes together made a big impact to the overall success. Details in the clouds and fence post were brightened up and a change in contrast was edited between the white snow and dark background of the sky and mountains.

C OMME R C IAL ART LAYOUT TOURISTIQUE FOR YOUR LIFE
My inspiration for these Touristique ads came from a classic Pony camera. Playing off the warm hues in the camera, an overlay in Photoshop was used to mimic the vintage style on the waterfall. For the web banner advertisements, specific sizes were spec’d from the Outdoor Bozeman and Daily Chronicle media kits. For both web and print, it is important to think in terms of consistency. To fully embrace the vintage products offered by Touristique, I captured photos from the Old Story Mill in Bozeman which provided a great background and color palette.

Handmade type and detailed photographs made the gardening company, El Jefe, consistent throughout the social media platforms on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. My inspiration was taken from nature to highlight small details that can be easily ignored, which is why it’s important to appreciate the little things in creation. Awareness and experimentation of the different types of files can be vital in creating quality for logos and images.
