Senior Dinner
Fr. Robert Spitzer The Four Levels of Love
“It’s much easier to look for the bad news than for the good news. Instead of focusing on the bad, look for kindness. Look for the good news in others. This causes empathy. My point is: God died for you. He loves you that much.”
Dr. Janet Smith Humanae Vitae, 50 Years Later: Progress or Regress?
“The Church has realized that if it doesn’t fight for religious freedom in regard to contraception, it won’t be able to fight for any religious freedom. Places like Christendom would not be able to exist without Humanae Vitae.”
Archduke Imre 100 Years Later: Quo Vadis Europa?
“As Catholics, we have a duty, just as Blessed Karl showed us, not to remain passive, but to do all we can to work for the common good, to love God and our neighbor. It is our goal and it is your mission."

From the Editor's Desk
Leaving Christendom for the summer was a challenge. Several of my classmates struggled to pack their stuff up. Not out of laziness, but rather because packing up meant saying goodbye. For the seniors, it was the end of a four year journey. Most of them will be travelling back home to begin hunting for a job and it will be some time before they are reunited with members of their class. The juniors watched the seniors receive their diplomas, realizing that it will be their turn in just one year and planning to make next year the best one yet. As the sophomores prepare for Rome, the reality will set in that the class will be separated for the next year or so. The freshmen, happy to be done with their first year at Christendom, are excited to be moving up in the ranks and to continue to grow as a class. Whether we were still tearing up because of Grace Mooney’s valedictorian address or because we were done with finals week, it was an emotional parting from the Front Royal campus. Christendom has that effect on its students. It has the ability to bring a group of people closer whether it be in the classroom, on the stage, on the field or court, or gathered together in the chapel. This academic year students have made many memories, more than can be captured in a single book. This past year, I, as well as many in the Christendom community, balanced a lot on my plate. I was the stage manager for both the fall play and the spring musical, played on the softball team, worked a campus job, and focused on my studies. Some days, I would question whether managing the yearbook was too much for me, but every time I came into the office to work on page layouts, I knew it wasn’t too much because I was doing what I love. I encourage those who will be returning to campus in the fall to get involved in the production of the yearbook. You will find it very rewarding when you have completed a spread and can submit it to an editor for review. The yearbook staff has the chance to take the memories that have been made over the past year and apply them to physical pages so they can be remembered for years to come. On that note, I would like to thank my wonderful staff for the work they put into this yearbook. This is a student run project that could not have been completed without you! As the campus prepares for it’s 40th anniversary this fall, many big things are on the horizon! Who knows what the year will hold- what new memories we will make, what new things we will learn, what new friends we will meet. All we know is that we will continue on, striving for greatness in all we do, because that is our Christendom legacy. I hope you enjoy looking through this snapshot of the past year’s memories, and we all will look forward to many exciting years to come.
Nicole Feldman

the blue mantle: THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME
Christendom College was founded under the patronage of Our Lady of Fatima in 1977, who has helped the college grow and flourish in the forty years since. When the Christendom College yearbook was first established in the 1980s, it took on the name "Blue Mantle" in honor of Our Lady. The yearbook would retain that name for a number of years, before the name changed simply to the "Christendom College Yearbook" later — a title that would stick through the 2012-13 academic year. For the yearbook's triumphant return in 2015-16, it was a no-brainer for the staff to bring the original name back as well, both as a tribute to the college's first yearbook staff and to the college's patroness as well.
