Overview

Year 9

The Year 9 Digital Technologies elective supports students’ development of analysis, design and coding skills within a ‘game lab’ context.

Through deep analysis of successful games along with building skills and familiarity with the game design process, you will be equipped to tinker, innovate and experiment with all aspects of game creation within the context of building a retro Game Boy style game using GB Studio.

This elective will draw on your ability to use initiative, problem-solve and ‘think outside the box’. There is opportunity in this elective to progress from concept to design and then development of your game—especially if you elect to take this subject as an additional study (a second term).

Year 9 Digital Technologies will appeal to any students interested in coding or design, and is a great step in a pathway towards interests and careers in programming, design, data analytics, cyber security and game or app development.
