Year 5&6 – Secret ingredient
Students develop basic skills in the production of food items and develop an understanding of Nutrition, following a recipe students prepare a meal for a family.
Year 7
Students develop more complex skills in food production, developing food items, modifying recipes to meet a design brief and nutritional requirements.
Year 8
Students develop a diverse range of food options with more complex processes and begin to design and develop food items that will cater for a broader audience.
Year 9 - Food Studies - 1 or 2 Terms
Students will increase their understanding in safe food handling, build on their knowledge, analysing links between current health issues and diet and extend their practical capabilities. They will research topics around the responsible consumption and production of food and life on the land. Students will design, source local ingredients and prepare nutritious meal options based on a variety of needs or opportunities utilising locally produced ingredients. This subject is a pathway to VCE studies at Senior School.
