Year 10 Music Industry Sound Production
A subject catering for students with an interest to learn about music industry skills in sound production. Is offered as a one Semester subject in the Year 10 elective offerings. Year 10 Music Industry Sound Production may lead to VCE VET Music Industry Skills Units 1 & 2, provide opportunity for students to develop their musical technical skills and knowledge alongside their other pathways.
Live Sound Recording and Mixing • Using PA Systems Set up, operate and pack down a PA system for a live band. •
Recording and mixing music
Record and mix music or voice using Logic software and a range of microphones. •
DJ
Create and perform a live DJ set. •
Lighting
Choreograph and create a light show for an event.

VCE VET Music Sound Units 1, 2, 3 & 4
A subject catering for students with an interest to learn about music industry skills in sound production. Is offered as a VCE VET Study that also allows students to achieve a study score. VCE VET Music Industry Sound Production may lead to further study in Music Industry Skills, provide opportunity for students to develop their musical technical skills and knowledge alongside their other pathways. Completing the sequence of 4 VCE VET Units also achieves the Cert 3 in Music Industry.
VCE VET Units 1 & 2 Music: Sound production
· Perform tasks in audio production including recording, mixing and operating a live sound reinforcement system. · Use music technology in music making and learn about new technology in the industry. · Develop workplace health and safety awareness, learn about copyright laws, as relevant to the music industry. · Learn to network, engage and communicate effectively in meetings within the process of setting up events and tasks.
VCE VET Units 3 & 4 Music: Sound production
· Conduct a multitrack studio recording of a band and mix/master it for a chosen medium. · Conduct a live recording of a band and mix/master it for a chosen medium. · Organise, set-up, operate a sound reinforcement system for live events in various venues and performance situations. · Learn to fix a range of issues with a studio recording and then finalise the mix ready for distribution.
