Component 1
Design Brief A new museum has been requested to accommodate the increasing popularity of knowledge of cars and motorsports. Motorsport has become one of the most enjoyable sports in the world. Since 1931, Dagenham has been producing Ford cars with the assistance of a major auto factory which was demolished to create more than a thousand homes. Ford's heritage centre was created as a result. However, the interior design and aesthetic of the building are not very appealing as it is very old and outdated. The Ford Heritage Centre is situated south of Dagenham, which is undergoing redevelopment, so I wanted it to be turned into a museum that held prestigious cars from Ford and showed what the area was like before redevelopment.

Location & Site Analysis Ford Dagenham has been a part of Dagenham since 1931. Recently the area, the automotive factory occupied has been demolished and is now being used to create housing and a train station to accommodate to the growing population
Location Opportunities The chosen area is a very large area, so incorporating landscaping will allow people to enjoy the open and natural space. Due to surrounding houses and open spaces, I am able to take full advantage of natural daylight, making the space bright and inviting without the use of artificial lighting. The site being located by a main road makes the site easy to commute to, as it will mainly function as a museum, the site would expect to see a large quantity of visitors, which would require easy access in order for people to get in and out of the location.
