SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 1. The word count should be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 700 words. 2. Essay must be typed in Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman 12 point font. 3. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! Essays found to be plagiarized will be disqualified. NOTE: Essays are subject to being submitted to Turnitin.com before they are judged. Essays cannot be submitted to contests on other campuses. 4. The essay should have a cover page that includes the title of the essay, your name, your B#, your phone, and your email address. 5. There is no specific format for the cover page or essay. 6. There should be no slang, profanity, or any other offensive or vulgar language. ESSAY SUBMISSION: 1. All essays are due by midnight September 12th and should be emailed to SGA Advisor Melissa Toepler at toeplerm@brevardcc.edu. Essays day-‐stamped after September 12th will be disqualified. 2. The winning essay will be read on September 15th during the Celebration America Event. SCORING: Each essay will be judged on the following: 1. Discussion/Content 2. Creativity Please see other side.
JUDGES: Palm Bay Communications professors and SGA Advisor will judge the essays: Their decisions will be final. WINNERS: 1. The names of the winners of the essay contest will be displayed on September 12th on the Building 1 lobby TV screens. • First place winner will receive a $100 VISA gift card. • Second place winner will receive a $50 VISA gift card. • Third place winner will receive a $25 VISA gift card. All currently enrolled students are eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in at least one class meeting on the Palm Bay campus.
