CONCEPT SCHEMES:
1
TO CREATE A SPACE THAT EMPHASIZES “TOGETHER-NESS”, “CURIOSITY” AND “SECURITY” KEY CONCEPTS OF ARCHITECTURAL SKILLSET (SHARPENING): - HIERARCHY (SCALE, FORM, GEOMETRY) - PROGRAM UNDERSTANDING - BOOLEAN OPERATIONS - AGGREGATE OR SUBTRACTION - V0LUMETRIC CONSTRAINTS - SYSTEMATIC APPROACHES OF SOLUTIONS - CREATIVE SOLUTIONS \ STRONG FORM MANIPULATIONS TO RESOLVE ISSUES
“THE WING” THIS MODEL EXPLORES THE BOUNDARIES OF “CURIOSITY”IN WHICH THE FORM WAS EXECUTED BY STRICTLY ADHERING TO SYSTEMATIC APPROACHES BETWEEN FIGURE GROUND DIAGRAM, WITH RELATION TO 3 DIM. TANGIBILITY.

THE CAVE
THE WING IS A MODEL THAT EXPERIMENTS BETWEEN THE TOGETHERNESS OF MODULAR FORMS; THE CURIOSITY OF THE APETURE; AND THE SENSE OF ISOLATED SECURITY AT ITS CENTROID, GUARDING IN ALL DIRECTIONS.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN
COMPLETE REDESIGN REASON: EXPLORE DIFFERENT ITERATION THAT EMBEDS A STRONGER SYSTEMATIC APPROACH, RIGOR, AND RULES. USING ONLY A SINGLE PLATONIC SHAPE ARRAYED SYSTEMATICALLY, WITHIN THE DIFFERENCES OF SCALE AND HEIGHT; THE DESIGN APPROACHES IN A MORE DYNAMIC RESULT. LESSON: DIFFERENCES ARE OBVIOUS IF THERE’S UNIFORMITY.

“THE MUSHROOM”
PRELIMINARY SCHEMES:
KEY CONCEPTS OF ARCHITECTURAL SKILLSET (SHARPENING): - SURFACE MANILPULATIONS - C0MPLEX SURFACES - SOLUTIONS TO EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS - MOVEMENT AND HUMAN ANATOMY + SCALE - PROGRAM UNDERSTANDING - SYSTEMATIC APPROACHES OF SOLUTIONS - SITE AND BOUNDARY CONSTRAINTS - FUNCTION HIERARCHY
THIS MODEL EXPLORES THE POTENTIAL OF CONES; CREATING SPACES THAT CATERS THE HUMAN MOVEMENTS AND INTERACTIONS

THE SITE CUT-AND-FILL IS BASED OFF FROM THE STRONG ANGLES OF THE FOLLIES. IT IS PARALLEL FROM WHICH THE MAIN DATUM MEETS FROM THE ROTATION OF THE TEXAS HOUSE 2. THE ANGLES THAT ARE RIGORED ARE 20, 25, AND 45 DEGREE ROTATIONS. THE FOLLIES ROTATE THESE ANGLES IN ALL X, Y, AND Z PLANES.
MY TEAM COMPETED AGAINST 32 TEAMS FOR THE DESIGN VILLAGE COMPETITION ON APRIL 16-18 AT CAL POLY SAN LUIS OBISPO. OUR CONCEPT WAS THE “EYE OF HORUS” AND MANAGED TO WIN 1 OUT OF 3 AWARDS.
