August 2016
Monday 1 August
Pray that in this third month of summer the Aliyah exhibition “The Great Return” in our Dutch center will again attract many visitors and draw their attention to God’s Word.
Tuesday 2 August
Following what Hamas has been doing for years from Gaza, terrorist movement Hezbollah has now started digging tunnels as well. From Lebanon they dig under the border to enter into Israel. Pray that these tunnels will be discovered and neutralized; pray for Israel’s safety in the north of the country.
Wednesday 3 August
Please continue to pray for the population in the north of Israel. With the threat of terror and war from Lebanon and Syria it is not always easy to live in this area.
Thursday 4 August
Thank God that tourists in Israel discover that, by being a personal example, they can speak freely about their faith in the Lord Jesus. How do we behave as Christians towards the Jewish people? That’s what matters.
Friday 5 August
Another Friday night, the beginning of Sabbath. This is the special evening, when many Jews disengage from weekly work and worries and devote themselves to their God. Thank God for the keeping of Sabbath, which most of all has preserved the Jewish people as a people set apart for God.
Saturday 6 August Sabbath
The situation in Israel is troubled, uncertain and unstable. A politically damaged government, (corruption) scandals, acts of terror and the continuous threat of war make the nation vulnerable. Therefore, pray for Gods people on the basis of God’s Word on the four Saturdays (Sabbaths) of this month! Prayer of humbling before God from Lamentations 1 verses 6 and 11.
Sunday 7 August
Thank the Lord God for the modern miracle of Aliyah from the four corners of the earth. From China and India, from Ethiopia and South-Africa; from France, Ukraine and from the USA and Canada. The common descent that can be traced back to the twelve tribes of Jacob reunites them in the land of Israel.
Monday 8 August
About 20,000 Jews still live in Turkey, most of them in Istanbul. The country is going through instability, anti-Semitism and stricter applications of Islam. Pray for the Jewish community in Turkey, for safety and for the possibility of making Aliyah to Israel.
Tuesday 9 August
The biblical prophets foresaw the restoration of Israel, but also the central role the other peoples would get to play in it (Isaiah 49:22 and 11:12). Because Aliyah is a prophetic sign from the Lord God for all nations, a sign that the nations should not ignore, the Lord God speaks through His Word: ‘Take your place!’
Wednesday 10 August
Aliyah is a special work of the Lord, and one gets the impression that a new phase has been entered. In recent years the number of Jews returning to Israel has steadily increased. Thank God that as Christians we have the possibility to be involved in this great return through intercession and in practical ways.
Thursday 11 August
Pray for the C4I speaking and training tour in Australia that starts today. Meetings will take place in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Rev. Willem Glashouwer and Andrew Tucker will be there to teach. Thank God for what He is doing in Australia and pray that people will understand the message and become well-equipped ambassadors for Israel.
Friday 12 August
Please give thanks for the international work of ‘Christians for Israel’ in Brazil and the extraordinary developments in this big South-American country. Many pastors, in many churches and prayer groups, are being reached with the message about the fulfillment of God’s Word in our days.
Saturday 13 August Sabbath
Prayer for forgiveness from Lamentations 2:18-19. “The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord… let your tears flow like a river day and night.”
Sunday 14 August
We are living in an exciting time between what the Bible describes as: “seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end” (Daniel 12:4) and “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book.” (Revelation 22:10). Explore the Bible, read what is actually written, and proceed to intercession.
Monday 15 August
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” is not just a well-known verse, but also a task. If we love Jerusalem we will receive rest (Psalm 122:4). This means that we will know that God watches over His Word, and also over Jerusalem.
Tuesday 16 August
The battle for Jerusalem is visible on many fronts: in the United Nations, within the European Union and within all kinds of international organizations. And of course the Arab-Muslim countries, numbering 56, throw in their full weight and continually provide misleading information. What about us? We may continue to pray that the Lord God fulfills His purpose with the city of Jerusalem.
Wednesday 17 August
Pray for prime-minister Benjamin Netanyahu and for opposition leader Yithak Herzog, for the government and for the members of the Knesset. A prayer such as the Bible requires of us (1 Timothy 2:1)
Thursday 18 August
In the Biblical areas of Judea and Samaria and in Jerusalem cars are often pelted with stones and fire-bombs by Palestinians. They also spread many lies about the Israelis living in these areas. Pray for the Jewish population. There are some who keep up contacts with the Arab population, but this is not at all easy.
Friday 19 August
As Christians we may look at the world from Jerusalem, the city where Jesus was crucified and buried, and rose from the dead after three days. No-one can ignore these facts of salvation, thank God for this.
Saturday 20 August Sabbath
Prayer of thanksgiving from Lamentations 3:22-27. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed… The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him.”
Sunday 21 August
“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?” (Psalm 2:1) You will discover the answer reading the rest of this Psalm. There are many reasons to intercede for Israel, for Zion regularly.
Monday 22 August
Ahmad Karimpour, a high-ranking Iranian military officer, has said that with the modern arms it possesses Iran is able to destroy Israel completely within eight minutes. Continue to pray faithfully for Israel!
Tuesday 23 August
Thank God for His Word: “Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing psalms to His name, for that is pleasant. For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be His own, Israel to be His treasured possession.” (Psalm 135:3-4)
Wednesday 24 August
Pray for the regional office of ‘Christians for Israel’ in Asia, led by Wilson Ng. Soon our English newspaper ‘Israel & Christianity Today’ will be launched there. This publication can be very meaningful for contacts towards the media in Asia.
Thursday 25 August
Please intercede for the serious situation our brothers and sisters in the Middle-East are finding themselves in. Especially the Coptic Christians in Egypt and the Aramaic Christians in Syria and northern Iraq (see Luke 18:7).
Friday 26 August
Saturday 27 August Sabbath Sunday 28 August
Talks about territories, borders and peace are going on all the time. Indirectly through other countries, but rarely directly with the Palestinians. With Gaza as a negative example, this is going anything but smoothly. Pray for preservation of Biblical territories in the hands of Israel, and for a solution which does right to all groups involved. Prayer of hope from Lamentations 5:19-22. “You, o Lord, reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation… Restore us to Yourself, o Lord, that we may return.”
Pray that Church denominations in Europe, following the example of PKN (largest Protestant Church denomination) in the Netherlands and the Lutheran Church in Germany, will disengage themselves from anti-Semitic utterances of Martin Luther.
Monday 29 August
Pray that ‘Replacement theology’, the teaching that the Church has replaced Israel in God’s plans, will be replaced by healthy Biblical teaching.
Tuesday 30 August
The economic boycott against Israel is expanding. On the other hand, more and more opposing forces show up. Confusion is all around. Sometimes the lines of division run right across a political party or the direction of a company. Pray that the BDS movement will hit a dead end and will stop all together.
Wednesday 31 August
Pray for the Jews who made Aliyah from Yemen, Ethiopia and India. Because of the dark color of their skin and different culture they face discrimination in Israel. This is nothing new, the Bible speaks about the same (Numbers 12:1, Song of Songs 1:5-6)
September 2016 Thursday 1 September
Friday 2 September
Saturday 3 September Sabbath
Sunday 4 September
Israel has to protect 273 kilometers of coast along the Mediterranean, the Dead Sea and at the Gulf of Aqaba. Terrorist organization Hamas pressures fishermen from Gaza to smuggle weapons. Pray that these practices will be prevented, pray for Israel’s safety. Pray for the villages and kibbutzim located near the border with Gaza. Pray for safety and that the inhabitants will trust in God. Thank God that Israel and Egypt cooperate to unmask terrorist groups and in this way fight against terror. Prayer for Israel and the nations from Ezekiel 28:25-26. On the four Saturdays of this month pray especially for Israel in relation to the nations, for the return of the Jewish people to their land has great consequences for other peoples. Monday 5 September
Earlier this year Israeli president Reuven Rivlin concluded that the State of Israel makes insufficient efforts for the survivors of the Holocaust. Out of 189,000 of them 45,000 live below the poverty level. Pray that everything will be undertaken to put this straight.
Tuesday 6 September
Thank God that the State of Israel was created in a unique way by means of a vote in the UNO on 29 November 1947. This was the ultimate fulfillment of numerous prophecies in the Bible about the restoration of the land of Israel and the return of the Jewish people. ” (Psalm 68:2a) “…” (Psalm 68:31b)” The first verse establishes a fact; the second is a prayer springing from it. With humbling before the Lord we may pray for Israel in this fashion.
Wednesday 7 September

Saturday 10 September Sabbath Sunday 11 September
Prayer for Israel and the nations from Ezekiel 34:27b-29. Thank God, that Israel will dwell safely in their land, that they will no longer be plundered by the nations. That the Lord their God is with them and calls them His people. Many Israelis are surprised to learn that Christians from countries like Dubai, Iraq, Indonesia, Malaysia and dozens of other countries pray for their country and for the Jewish people. The Bible already speaks about this in Zechariah 8:22. Continue to pray for Israel in your country as well.
Monday 12 September
Wonderful news: in new school text-books in Egypt, for the first time a positive description is given of the 1979 peace treaty with Israel. Thank God for answering this prayer and pray that other countries will follow.

Mr. Frans Timmermans, vice-chairman of the European Commission, recently pointed out that only 13 out of 28 member states, consider denying the Holocaust a criminal offence. Pray that in this time of growing anti-Semitism this will be changed and European countries will take action against this offense.
Wednesday 14 September Now that sanctions against Iran have been lifted, Europe has entered into a lot of good
business with this country. Europe flatly ignores the fact that Iran is involved in terrorism and calls for the destruction of Israel. Pray that this evil attitude will be brought to light and politicians will get a clear understanding. Thursday 15 September
In recent years Israel provided help after disasters in Rwanda, Turkey, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal and Haiti. In Nepal Israel even was the first country to appear. Helping other countries has always been a priority of the government of Israel – a reason for thanksgiving.

Now that more relations and closer relations are formed between Israel and countries in the Far East, pray that those countries will be influenced by Israel and not the other way round. This is not an easy prayer – this is spiritual battle. Eastern religions are advancing.

Wednesday 21 September Earlier this year for the first time since the establishment of the United Nations in 1948

It is puzzling to see how Israel keeps giving less attention to Europe and focuses on the Far East more and more. What does this mean to us as intercessors? Pray that we will discover how to relate to this in a correct way!
Wednesday 28 September (John 14:23a) As people we often primarily react to circumstances, but as Christians we
must learn to react on the basis of God’s Word. Pray that we will! Thursday 29 September
