When I was just a small boy I always wanted to be a professional baseball player and maybe get to play ball with my heroes Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and all of the true greats back in the day. Well, as the world changed so did my dreams. But here I am years later sitting here thinking about all of the many wonderful things in my life that I am thankful for. As the seasons change I notice not only the change in the weather but also in the way that I remember how it used to be when the world turned just a bit slower. As a child I never knew that my Mother and my Grandmother were Angels and the way they raised us was the very best that they could. Today I am so thankful that we were taught the true meaning of Thanksgiving and what it was really all about. As time is marching on I give thanks to the two of them for loving us boys and teaching us that life is for the living and we should live it in the way that Jesus could look at how we live and say well done. I am thankful that I have my children and my wife who love me even in the weakest of days. I am thankful for being raised up in a nation where a boy could dream big and maybe even be a professional baseball player. I am thankful that God has steadfastly shown His light on me in so many ways that I am truly humbled. I am also so very thankful that He loves me and He lets me love Him back. That’s the way I see it. This is what we love for dessert in Georgia...
Pecan Pie 3 large eggs 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 cup of cane syrup or light corn syrup 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened 1 heaping tablespoon all purpose flour 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup of pecans, coarsely chopped 1 unbaked homemade or commercial pie crust Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the pie crust by placing it into an ungreased, regular 9-inch glass pie plate and fluting the edges. Whisk the eggs together, then whisk in the sugar. Stir in the syrup and the softened butter; mix well. Add the flour and the vanilla; combine well and fold in the pecans. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for about 55 to 60 minutes. Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 4
Thankful By Marty Smith I love this time of year. In fact, it’s my favorite time of year. As I reflect on the events of this past year, I have been very blessed. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It’s a time to give thanks for God’s many blessings. What are you thankful for? I’m thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ, for without Him, I’m nothing. Without Him, I’m lost eternally and there is no hope for me. I’m thankful for a loving wife who supports my calling in radio to spread God’s Word through Christian Country music. I’m thankful for my children. They are such a blessing to me. It is such a joy to watch them grow in the Lord and watch them grow as adults. I’m thankful that I’m able to do my radio full time and spread the Word. I’m thankful for the friends that I have in Christian Country music. A lot of these friends have turned into a tight knit family with one goal in mind, to spread the Word of God through music. As we approach Thanksgiving, I would like to encourage you to look at the things you are thankful for. It could be as simple as a sunrise or a sunset. Maybe spending that extra hour with Mom, which is something we often take for granted. Take a look around and give thanks for God’s many blessings. When you do, you’ll realize there is so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving and may the Lord bless you with many more things to be thankful for. Thankfulness Gene and I are so thankful for the valleys and the mountain tops. After a three year walk in the valley of bad health and non prospering, we know our God walked with us and taught us many lessons along the journey. He is now leading us up a mountain, and when He sees fit for us to reach the top, we shall shout in victory, through Christ Jesus. We are so thankful for our precious Jesus who will never leave or forsake us!! "Keeping Christ In Our Country" www.gaylaearlene.com
Grandpa Crain's Macaroni & Cheese This macaroni and cheese recipe was a Crain family favorite when I married Gene 44 years ago. Since his Mother was ill and bedridden, his Dad was the cook in their household and he was a great cook!! Here is Grandpa Crain's Macaroni and Cheese: Heat oven to 375 degrees and bake covered 15 minutes or until cheese bubbles, uncover, optional, and cook a bit longer for browning. 1 large bag of Macaroni 1 stick of Butter Salt to taste 10-11 oz. can of Milnot 1# Kolby Longhorn cheese Pepper Cook the Mac according to directions, drain and add the butter & salt. Pour in the Milnot evaporated milk and stir. Grease an 11x14 pan and pour in the mixture. Place cheese, chunked up into about the size of quarters and stick down into the mixture, here and there until all is used. Add Pepper on top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake covered 15 minutes or until cheese bubbles. uncover, optional, and cook a bit longer for browning. (Grandpa always used an iron roasting pan with a lid which works well but if you don't have that, the cake pan covered with foil will work.) Thanks-Living by Jimmy R. Price www.jimmyrprice.com
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays we observe each year. Actually, it should not be a once-a-year celebration, but instead our daily attitude. God blesses us, His children, in so many wonderful and awesome ways. At the very least we should give Him thanks. I believe that the best way to show our gratitude to the Lord is not by what we say, but by how we live (thanks-living). Fretting and worrying about things that are out of our control, especially the behavior of others, can be a real hindrance to thanks-living. Psalm 37:1-2 says, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” Thanks-living can only become a reality when we turn our attention from ourselves and others to God Himself. Kind David gives us some great advice on how to accomplish this in Psalm 37. Verses 3-7 tell us, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” Here are the 4 steps to Thanks-living! 1. Trust In the Lord – Every time in my life that I have trusted the Lord, He has proved to me that He is trustworthy! 100% of the time! No other has a track record like that! He does what He says He will do! Trust Him! 2. Delight In the Lord – What a privilege it is to be a child of the King, all because He has adopted us as children. What a joy it is to be in a right relationship with the Father, through His Son Jesus Christ. 3. Commit to the Lord – We must be all-in! Jesus said that if anyone would be His disciple they must take up their cross and follow Him. He went all the way to the cross for us, so we must be committed to Him. 4. Rest In the Lord – Sometimes we can allow our lives to become so busy that we forget to take timeout to spend some quality time alone with the Lord. Resting in Him is so important that God created a day of the week just for that purpose. Not just to cease from our labor, but also to worship Him. If we’re too busy to rest in the Lord, we’re too busy! God is not impressed with lip-service alone, He wants to see our faith. In addition to the one-day-a-year celebration of Thanksgiving, let us enter into a lifetime attitude of Thanks-living!

A tradition is born: TV dinners have Thanksgiving to thank. In 1953, someone at Swanson misjudged the number of frozen turkeys it would sell that Thanksgiving -- by 26 TONS! Some industrious soul came up with a brilliant plan: Why not slice up the meat and repackage with some trimmings on the side? Thus, the first TV dinner was born! Saeed Ahmed, CNN
Backstrap & Chocolate Pudding Biscuits Hello, my name is Ann Price, wife of singer, songwriter and pastor, Jimmy Price. I have always been very family oriented, but now more so. We have 2 children, Jason and Kylie. They have married and we have 5 grandchildren. This time of year is a time to reflect on our lives and think about our past and our future. In the past, everyone has come to our house for Thanksgiving. I cook turkey, ham, dressing, sweet potatoes, fruit salad and lots more- along with the lemon, pecan, and chocolate pies and all kinds of goodies to snack on. After we eat and clean up, we sit around, talk and let the kids entertain us. As everyone begins to leave, I load them up with leftovers. After that, Jimmy and I are left to do something else with all the food that is left. Most of the time a lot is just thrown away. What a waste! A couple of years ago, I began planning what I was going to cook for the holidays. I asked my kids what they wanted, and they said, “You should cook some deer backstrap, homemade biscuits and chocolate pudding (you put the chocolate pudding over the leftover biscuits).” Turns out, that was super easy and we didn’t have any leftovers! So now that is our new Thanksgiving meal tradition.
Sarah Josepha Hale petitioned for a national Thanksgiving holiday for close to 40 years, believing that "Thanksgiving, like the Fourth of July, should be considered a national festival and observed by all our people." Sarah Josepha Hale, the enormously influential magazine editor and author who waged a tireless campaign to make Thanksgiving a national holiday in the mid-19th century, was also the author of the classic nursery rhyme “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” In 1863, more than 200 years after the 1st Thanksgiving, President Abraham Lincoln declared the final Thursday in November as a national day of thanksgiving. President Lincoln at the height of the Civil War, in a proclamation entreated all Americans to ask God to “commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife” and to “heal the wounds of the nation.” Congress finally made Thanksgiving Day an official national holiday in 1941. www.history.com Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 8
YEA and AMEN by Pastor Dr. Doug DeRamus You can visit Doug DeRamus at: www.facebook.com/dougderamus
What I want you to get out of the verses below in Deut. 27 is that after each CURSE was declared how all the people said "AMEN" to the curses. If you will get your Bible and read the next chapter, Deut, 28, where all the BLESSINGS were declared, there were NOT ONE "Amen" spoken from the people. Simply put, they said AMEN to these bitter curses but did not have an AMEN to say to the blessings. Deut 27:15-26 (15) Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen. (16) Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. (17) Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen. (18) Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen. (19) Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen. (20) Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen. (21) Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen. (22) Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. (23) Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen. (24) Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen. (25) Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen. (26) Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen. KJV What "Amen" means in Hebrew "so be it". So they were saying after the reading of each curse, "so be it". REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW: Now this is the GOOD NEWS in the New Testament, the New Covenant, your New Contract. Gal 3:13-14 (13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (14)That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. KJV PROMISES ARE, Yea and Amen: 2 Cor.1: 20 - For all the promises of God (in him) are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. KJV THE SECRET IS: Jesus is your AMEN (so be it) to the curses. He is the slain Lamb, the death of the First-Born in your house. Jesus is your substitute. JESUS IS YOUR "Amen" to the curses. HOWEVER, even greater news, JESUS IS YOUR "Amen" to the blessings that they were never able to say under the Old Covenant to the BLESSINGS. Continued on next page‌

Rev 3:14 - And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; KJV. He is the AMEN, He is the faithful and He is the true witness. Verily, Verily Twelve or so occasions, when Jesus said, twice over, "Verily, verily...", the Greek word is "Amen", so that we may read, "Amen, Amen, I say unto you..." If Jesus says, "Verily, verily" - He said, "Amen, Amen" Example: John 10:7 - Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. KJV "Amen, Amen... I am the door..." I AM THE WAY INTO THE NEW COVENANT (CONTRACT) AND I AM THE WAY OUT OF THE OLD COVENANT (CONTRACT). There is a tremendous emphasis on that; in other words, you cannot get in any other way and you can not get out any other way. In all of these twelve or more different connections He speaks of Himself in this way. He is the 'Amen'. ("so be it"). Jesus Christ is YOUR Amen to the "curses". Instead of you having to say Amen to the curses. And Jesus Christ is your Amen to the "blessings" ("so be it"). He has said "so be it" for you. In the death of the Lord Jesus, there was the mighty, inclusive Amen to all the CURSES. In His Life, there is the affirmative Amen to all the BLESSINGS. He was made a curse for us. He took the curse for it all upon Himself, and said, 'Amen', He swallowed up all the curse in His death, with a mighty affirmation, 'God is right - His judgment is just - Amen!' This is a recipe that I make during the holidays. It’s easy and everyone loves it. Marcia Hudson www.marciahudson.net

There are regional differences as to the "stuffing" (or "dressing") traditionally served with the turkey. Southerners generally make theirs from cornbread, while in other parts of the country white bread is the base. One or several of the following may be added: oysters, apples, chestnuts, raisins, celery and/or other vegetables, sausage or the turkey's giblets. www.coolest-holiday-parties.com Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 10
Paul Roark by Roger Barkley, Jr. www.rogerbarkleyjr.com
I will have to say this is a bittersweet story I write this time around. I have to tell you about a man that called me a few days after my dad passed away. He could not say much because he was overtaken by emotion and told me he was praying and would call me again later. He actually called a few times in the same way. He and dad would sit and talk about the world, solve the world problems, figure out how it would be better and usually end up preaching to one another. I recall him and his family and me and our family would be at some of the same places singing. When it was time for us to take the stage and minister in the way God told us to, they were there cheering each other on, shouting encouragement to one another. I was in the recording studio with him as we were working on a new project and trying to decide what “genre” of music we should call it. He told me, in that fatherly tone looking over his glasses, “Son – there ain’t but two different kinds of Gospel Music in this world…. Good and Bad. Go sing the good and leave the bad alone.” I remember sitting with him after concerts, after everyone had left, sharing cold cut sandwiches and listening to his words of wisdom along with swapping stories of the road life we had to share. The pains of Paul Roark’s life have now been healed. Thank you for taking the time to help so many ministries blossom while you were here. There is a place in our hearts that is missing, but what a joy it is knowing that we will meet again one day.

You hear it all the time. “Real Country music is gone”. I say if you believe that you haven’t heard
Darlene Jennusa by Tommy Smith
There are a lot of us Country music fans wondering how we ever let true Country music slip away. Though this is apparent in the Country music genre, not so in the Country Gospel Music industry. We still have more singers singing true country Gospel than those who don’t. As I make calls to radio the majority of Country stations that play our music still want it Country. I had a DJ in Mississippi tell me the other day that if he gets another compilation in with a hard rock guitar on it he is going to throw the comp in the trash. This station has been playing our music since I’ve been in the business and that’s been over fifteen years. It was only a few days later a station owner in Jacksonville, FL. basically said the same thing. Now, having said that, I know that music will always be ever changing and rightfully so, but we must remember to protect and keep the roots behind every genre of music. Darlene Jennusa is just one of many female artists in our industry that does just that. She has a smooth silky Country voice and her music is getting played on over the airwaves Country stations all over America. She is from the deep South East Texas town of Port Neches, right next to the Louisiana border. That’s the area George Jones is from and you don’t get any more country than George. Darlene’s new release on Canyon Creek records “Jesus I Love You, I Really Do” is climbing the charts already. Our thanks go out to stations like 94.1 Abilene, Texas, 104.1 KKUS Tyler, Texas, Heavens Country, Durango, Colorado and the list goes on. I watched Darlene perform at the International Country Gospel Music Associations Award show this year and as I was watching I thought, “She is a female George Strait”. She doesn’t walk the stage or talk a lot but she stands there and sings from the heart and you can tell the audience is really listening to every word she sings. She gets the story across and after all the true Christian message is what leads the lost to Christ. If you like pure Country without all the fireworks then you will love Darlene Jennusa. She is pure Country Gospel and she will sing her heart out for you. If you want to make your own decision about that, then purchase one of her CD’s and decide for yourself. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Call her at: (409) 722-0429, visit her website at www.darlenejennusa.com, or check her out on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/darlene.jennusa. Tommy Smith

John Henry Harvey A Christian Artist That Lets His Light Shine by Tommy Smith
I often give thanks to the Lord for sending me talented, Godly artists to promote to radio through my label Canyon Creek records. It is important to me that they have the heart of Christ. If not, then their ministry, and my efforts mean nothing to the lost in Christ. I love the song “I Would Rather See A Sermon” (Than Hear One) by Bruce Carroll. For someone to say I see Christ in you is the greatest form of recognition as an artist that you could ever receive. When John sent me his song “Let The Light Shine On” I heard his sincerity and could tell that he too was convicted by the message of the song. I didn’t know John at all when his promoter Roger Woods called me to see if I could use the song but now it seems as though I have known him for years. His spirit flows with love and kindness for others. Last month we wrote an article about Gina West-Sims, a young artist, mother and wife that had been told by the doctors that she only had a short time to live. Gina the mother of four, two being under the age of five, knew her time was up. I’m sure, as any good parent she felt she was leaving her husband and kids with devastating medical and burial costs. We asked all who could give to chip in and try to help the family out. John Henry Harvey was one of two that responded and said he would put on a benefit in his hometown to help out. Gina went on to be with the Lord just a few days after the article was out, but John called and said he was still doing the benefit, I know the family could use the help. That is a great example of letting the light shine on for Christ. John has been calling me and bragging on other artists that he is hearing on Country Gospel Music radio. He is like a kid in a toy store excited about having the opportunity to be a part of the Country Gospel Music Ministry field. He is an accomplished singer, musician, and songwriter and has been a working in secular music for years. He is now sold out for Christ. His new song has already charted in Christian Music Weekly, Cashbox Magazine, Christian Servant Magazine and radio stations are adding “Let The Light Shine On” to their play lists daily. John says, “to God be the glory”. I would encourage all who are in our music genre to contact John and welcome him to the family. Call Him at: 804-617-7631 or email johnhenryharveyofficial@gmail.com, or visit him on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/johnhenryharveyofficial/. Remember Christians to “let your light shine on”.

I’m so thankful for… Thanksgiving here in America. I have been asked to write a few words on what I am thankful for. A few words about living in America is very difficult. I have traveled to other Nations and enjoyed the good of their land. However, I have never experienced any place in the world that is more blessed than America. I am thankful to be a citizen of the USA. Not bad since I am a LEGAL alien. If you are born again, so are you. We all might really be more thankful if we understood what this NEW CREATION in Christ really possesses. I am thankful for my US citizenship that I obtained by being born in OKLAHOMA. I am even more thankful for my citizenship from another KOSMOS. Another world! Quoting Jesus in John 18:36, “My kingdom is not of this world“. I am thankful to be a citizen of HIS KINGDOM. by Pastor Dr. Doug DeRamus
Well, Another Thanksgiving season is upon us! Starla and I have so much to be thankful for. We live in Wyoming and our weather this year has been great! Our ministry has expanded to include a new four piece band. We've been blessed to meet and witness to so many wonderful Christians. God's People still love the "old" songs, as well as the new. We see Prophesy being fulfilled all around us, and we know that time is short! The "shaking time" is here and we are so glad to be in "His Service." We praise God for all those who choose to follow, love, and serve Him always! In Christian love, Ron and Starla Hughes
During this season of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so many things. God has blessed me with two wonderful children, great friends, and a loving family. He continues to open doors for ministry that I would have never seen and I am so grateful. When I get discouraged in what I think should be happening, God opens a brand new door. If we are open to what He wants for our lives, we will never be disappointed. Marcia Hudson www.marciahudson.net
What am I thankful for this year, 2015? First off 2015 sounds like something from a science fiction movie. Even Space Odyssey only went up to 2001. I was only 51 then and now I’m a grand old man of 65. I never thought about being 65 when I was young. None of us did but somehow God knows what to reveal to us and helps us to move gracefully through different phases of our lives, if we’re listening. Things I’m thankful for now would make my younger self laugh. Things like singing in the choir or going to brotherhood bible study every other Saturday morning. Waking up each morning as the sun hits my face and playing with my little dogs who God has invested with never-ending love. Working in my little recording studio on music for people to go out and minister to believers everywhere. I never wanted to do anything else and I still love doing it. What kind of blessing is that? Pretty good, and I give thanks every day for it. Then I hear my lovely bride Frances who is the love of my life. She is my best friend and we share our lives together in a close and special way. Plus she cooks really good. What a blessing she is for me. I know the Lord guided me to her and I’m finding the more I turn my life over to Him the more I’m blessed in all things. We are all the same in that way and as followers of Christ we know he has prepared a way for us if we can only listen and follow Him. I feel like I’m listening better than I ever have and maybe that’s the best thing that’s happened this year! I am so thankful to God for all his blessings on my 24 years of full time ministry. I am thankful for all the friends I have met and all the ministry opportunities!! Barry McGee https://barrymcgeeministry.wordpress.com/
2015 has been just an amazing time for us. GOD has done so much for us, with us, and through us. He never ceases to amaze and His plans are always bigger and better than ours. I have seen a movement in our church in the youth and children. The boldness they have for the LORD, speaking His word stepping up and taking their place. Such an awesome thing to be part of. We have seen growth where it counts, spiritual, leadership, and unity. Doris and I sometimes are so caught up in all of it, we know it is all about the LORD. We are trying to figure out how to do it, and HE has taken care of it. We were so blessed this year in West Plains at the ICGMA awards. The CD “DETOURS” did more than we had even thought about. Doris and I were awarded 2015 ICGMA Duo of the year, the album was in the top 5 for the year, and the title track “DETOUR” made it to the #1 spot on the Cashbox Christian Country Charts and Christian Servant Magazine Chart in October. We want to thank the LORD above all, and to everyone who has prayed for us, supported us & played our music!! Tommy Smith, best in the business, thank you so much for the encouragement and direction. Again, the stand out lesson for Doris and myself this year: HIS plan is ALWAYS bigger and better than ours. GOD BLESS, Mike & Doris Merritt http://merrittcowboyministries.com/
Gena and I are most thankful that we serve a God who continues to flood us with blessings in both our health - and our love for each other! We are thankful He saved a family and band mate from certain serious issues with illness recently - and we are so thankful our families support what we are doing with our Ministries! We Pray each day He will continue to bless our friends who are also in the Ministry as well as the radio promoters who get the Word in song out to the needy.… Gena & Joe Hamilton http://www.genarobertsmusic.com/
"In January of this year, my husband, Bobby, was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, and so we began to do some research to find an alternative treatment other than surgery. We heard about a fairly new kind of radiation being offered in Knoxville, TN, and after going for a consultation with cancer doctors there and having additional tests run, Bobby was accepted as a patient at the Provision Center for Proton Therapy. He was required to have radiation five days a week for eight weeks. Knoxville is a seven-hour drive from where we live on the other end of the State of Tennessee, so that meant we had to make arrangements to stay in Knoxville for April and May for the duration of his treatment. Bobby came through with flying colors and is doing very well now. He will return in June 2016, for a follow-up visit with his cancer doctor. We are so very, very thankful for the Lord's touch upon his body and also thankful that we were afforded the opportunity to witness to other cancer patients that we met at the clinic. I was also invited to sing at two different churches and at the funeral of one dear precious lady while we were there. The Lord can take any situation and any circumstance and use it for His Glory if we will only allow it. Bobby and I would like to wish all of you a very blessed Thanksgiving!" This season of Thanksgiving compels us to examine ourselves and list what we are thankful for. The exercise itself can be almost daunting; we found that in many ways we have become almost thank-less for the many blessings we have in our lives. We repent. Ephesians 5:20 thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ We are thankful for: (the list is long and mostly Terry’s, but here are a few, we’ll stop at 25:) 1. God “His mercies, grace, love, friendship”, 2. Wife “my best friend, companion, partner in ministry, mother of my children”, 3. Children and grandchildren “the very riches of life”, 4. The Bible “the never-changing, unfailing truth”, 5. Job, 6. Shelter and provisions, food, clothing, transportation, 7. America, 8. Friends, 9. Church “a strong home Church with a vision and burden for the community and missions”, 10. Heritage “our backgrounds & experiences have made us what we are”, 11. Soldiers, past and present, who protect our freedom, 12. Christian music, 13. Laughter, 14. Mexican Food, 15.The ocean, 16. Jeans and t-shirts, 17.Sunny Days, 18. Technology “the ability to stay in contact with family and friends so easily”, 19. Guitars, 20. Hymns of the church, 21. Sunday Night Church services, 22. Coffee, 23. The Rain, 24. Ice cold Coke Zero, 25. Christian mentors and role-models In summary, collectively as a couple, we agree that the one thing we are thankful for is God’s faithfulness. He is faithful, His love never ceases, His mercies are new every morning Lamentations 3:22-23 Terry & Debra Luna http://www.thelunasonline.com/
I can’t even begin to state the extent of how and what I am Thankful for right now. I am so grateful and thankful and overjoyed how the Lord has shown up in my life time and time again. It overwhelms me to think about how much He loves even me. The Lord has place the most wonderful people in my life to help lead me and guide me in the ministry. He has placed a yearning in my heart to share the gospel and to know His word. I am so thankful for my family, even though they are not perfect, He place them in my life for a purpose and a plan. I’m thankful for all the “stuff” and people in and out of my life. I’m just THANKFUL. God Bless, Jamie Lynn Flanakin
Chuck Hancock and his family would like all to know they count their blessings and give Christ praise and glory everyday. He is our family’s strength. He is our family’s hope. He is our King. As our family breaks bread together this Thanksgiving day we will give thanks for all the friends we have made through Christ Jesus as we travel and evangelize not only through our music but also through His written Word. For all of those we have met and will meet that have been slow to come to Christ we will pray and believe that He will send you the Holy Spirit and lead you to the Throne.
HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING from Chuck, Cynthia and family.

GunnPoint The Scary Hose! by Randy Gunn
As I look out my windows and across the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains, I am reminded of the many trips I and my horses have taken through them. As I ponder those trips, I begin to reflect on the fine horses that God has blessed me with over the years that have been trustworthy on those adventures. It is imperative to have a good horse in this country. A horse that is sure footed, calm, level headed, and most of all, not spooky or shy of obstacles and dark shadows. The journey up covers many a treacherous trail and much dark and downed timber. A horse that always spooks and jumps and pulls back will never be any use to me in the mountains. One of the most precious gifts from God I am thankful for is my horse Akeva. This wonderful mare has been there, done that and owns the t-shirt. I remember when I first brought Akeva, to the ranch. She was very young and green, but very willing to please. She had the mind, disposition and build for a good mountain horse. As I lead her towards the corral, there was a green hose stretched across the driveway. One would have thought that the hose was a giant anaconda all coiled up and raising its big head with its forked tongue sticking out while hissing. Akeva would have no part of stepping over that hose. She arched her neck, cocked her head downward and looked with intent at that hose while she continually backed up and moved sideways, her eyes always fixed on that little thin green hose. When I think of it a smile comes to my face. She thought for sure crossing over that hose was going to bring her certain harm. It is imperative that my horses trust me as I lead them. There will be many real obstacles in the future as we ride on those trails upwards into the mountains. If they can’t get over a hose, they will never get through the scary dark timber and the many large and bulky downed timbers. My goal is to have my horse go through the roughest of trails without fear of any kind. Just calm complete trust in where I am pointing them and leading them to go. So, first I lead them over the hose. Once they step over it, I lead them back to it so they can step over it again. Then, I do it again, and again and again. I will not leave the hose until they step over it without paying any attention to it. Then I take them to the next obstacle. It might be a big log or a railroad track. I repeat the same lesson until the horse realizes that my leading is safe, and their fear had no merit. The horse simply thinks that if it could step over that hose, it can step over this log, or this track. Then, when we go through the dark timber, and over real obstacles, they remember what I helped them get over in the past, and they calmly trust my leading as we step over downed trees, huge mud puddles, creeks, streams and rocks. They just learn to trust that I won’t take them through anything that will harm them. God wants us to learn the same lessons. Often we come across little things in life that we fear because we magnify, through our imaginations, the problem or obstacle to be much bigger than it is and focus too much on what we think it can do to us. God doesn’t take us through dark timbers until he teaches us to cross over little hoses. Once we realize that God can keep us safe and gently lead us over the hose, we will remember that when it is time to cross over a big log in our life. The secret is not to forget what God has done for us in our past so we can trust Him in our present situation. Continued on next page… Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 22

Someday there will be something really big, dark and scary, with many obstacles, that we will have to go through and cross over. If we remember that God never lead us over anything that harmed us before, and that He was patient to help us get over smaller obstacles, we can trust Him to lead us through and over the real big scares that come to us in life. A Christian who constantly worries, and frets about what they are about to go through, who keeps backing up and not going forward, who continues to pull back is not any use to God in this mountain of life that we are ever climbing. We have all heard the story of David killing the giant, Goliath. Keep in mind that David did not start with a giant. While tending sheep he started with a lion, then a bear. When asking King Saul if he could go kill the giant, David said this; "I have been taking care of my father's sheep," he said. "When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and take the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I'll do it to this giant Philistine, too. 1 Sam 17:34-36. The giant didn’t even faze David. It became normal to trust God and face any obstacle because of his experiences in the past. I will not leave my horses to themselves as they try to negotiate the hose. Jesus said to us the same thing; "I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say "The LORD is my helper, I will not fear.” Heb 13:5-6. God will never fail you if you surrender your life and circumstances to Him. If you trust in and are obedient to His ways, you will not only get through the little problems in life, but you will be able to get through the dark timbers that the trail of life leads you to sometimes. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and leader. You will soon learn that you can trust Him to never take you through anything that will harm you…now that is something to be thankful for. ‘Riding For The Brand’ author, Mike Merritt (as published in the book, “Living The Dream , The Cowboy Way” )
By fate or coincidence, as a young feller I ran into an old cowboy that went by the name of Red Pope. Mr. Red seemed to always have some nice ponies standin’ around and could tell cowboy stories till the sun went down. I whooped into Mr. Reds place one day cause a nice grey colt was standin’ out in the pen with some other horses and he sure caught my eye. As me and Mr. Red was re-acquaintin’ I let him know I wanted that grey horse. He kinda’ gave me that horse tradin’ smile and said “ he’s a nice one but let me show you the bay horse”. We looked at the bay horse, but I was set on the grey. We did our trade, shook hands and as I was loading the grey, Mr. Red said “Be careful with him son, someday that lil’ grey is gonna throw ya’. I smiled and chuckled a little while I was thinking, that ole man ain’t got a clue, I can ride anything I can get on. Well, me and the grey started our journey on a good note, me asking, him delivering and sometimes thinking about what Mr. Red had told me ‘bout getting throwed, I just smiled and kept to riding the grey. One day, had a neighbor needing some day work done and I surely needed some work, so I signed on. We made plans and the next morning I decided to saddle the grey, you know expose him to the world. He really took to the cow work; pennin’, sortin’, and even draggin’ a calf or two to the branding fire. After a purty long day we shut down and planned to finish up early next morning. Getting around the next morning, I thought about the grey and how good he did, so why not use him to finish up this little bit of work. And I thought, I need to call Mr. Red and tell him about the grey working cattle. Saddled up, we got out before daylight and were unloading as the sun was rising. What beauty GOD created. I stepped up on the grey, turned and walked him off, I thought he feels a little fresh this mornin’. Next thang I know, the grey is bawlin’, dogs barking’, everything just come untrained! Seemed like awhile, you know the feeling, but I’m sure it wasn’t long. The grey catapulted me through the air like a yard dart and for a second these words were spinning around in my head “someday that lil’ grey horse is gonna throw ya’. Piled up on the ground, I knew in the future Mr. Red’s wisdom would not be taken for granted. Faith and Truth is what makes this whole thing work. Cowboy’s still shake hands, and your word is good, unless you prove different. Today there is so much hoopla around church, a person can get lost trying hard to find the way. GOD gave us HIS word so we can find our way, alone or with a big outfit. So we can sign up to ride for HIM and take HIS word as the truth. There is no coincidence in the things GOD teaches us, it is fact and HE has and will continue to fulfill HIS plan until the return of our LORD and SAVIOUR. We can read in the book of Micah 5:2 that He was to be born in Bethlehem, Luke 2:1 we can see how GOD works to put His plan in action. Psalm 41:9, He would be betrayed by a friend, Matthew 26:14, the story of His friend Judas. Continued on next page… Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 24

Psalms 16:10, He would have victory over death. Revelations 22:20 He says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” His word is the truth. He is coming soon and it really ain’t our business when. We just gotta make sure we choose the right horse, lest we will be throwed off into a place we can’t ride out of. Second Peter 3:9 says The LORD is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. We ask GOD to forgive us for the wrong thangs’ we have done and repent; don’t do those thangs’ anymore. If that ole horse keeps throwin’ you , get rid of him and get another horse. GOD loves us. He offers us His strength to fight the bad times, He gives us peace, He said He is coming back. Make sure you’re riding for the right outfit. Ride for the Brand of The Cross. The Arkansas Cowboy, Shirrell Harrison, would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know that God still performs miracles today. He has recently had open-heart surgery to mend a very large hole in his heart. This was found when he totally collapsed after suffering several small strokes. He had to be air-flighted to the hospital to be operated on immediately. They didn’t have much hope for Shirrell, but God did. He came out of surgery with a mended heart and now feels like a brand new man ready to work for Christ. His new release to radio “Sail On” will be a blessing for all to hear. The Harrison’s would like to thank all their family and friends for your prayers. They feel so blessed that you would care so much and that God still cares, heals and answers prayers. Have a blessed Thanksgiving from the Harrisons. www.shirrellharrison.com

In His Arms – A Place of Quiet Comfort by John Randolph
So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” - 1 Samuel 3:10 Last night was one of those nights that doesn’t occur much in the Randolph house…I was alone! No phone calls to answer, nobody to ask me a million questions, no girldrama that runs rampant in the house these days. Other than Noah (our Chocolate Lab) and Titan (our Siberian husky) the house was mine! The first order of business was to stop by the store and acquire what I wanted for dinner. With no one to tell me different, I devoured two bowls of Froot-Loops and a handful of Double-Stuffed Oreos both of which I believe were called manna in the Old Testament. The next order of business was to tune the guitar and get to working on some new music. The third order of business was to sit outside in the complete darkness, strum ONE CHORD and then realize that the most beautiful sound in the world is pure utter silence. As I placed my guitar on the chair next to me, I then proceeded to sit and “listen” to the silence. As I listened, I thought about the verse above and the story of when God first called out and spoke to Samuel. I don’t know about you but one of the hardest things for me to do is fall asleep to complete silence. We live in a world filled with the buzzes and beeps of electronics; humming of a ceiling fan; car noise outside; dogs barking; coyotes howling; the A/C kicking on outside my window…noise upon noise upon noise. And all those noises seem to provide some sense of comfort??? In fact, we can even buy machines or download apps that provide ambient noise – whatever that means! When we look back on some of the most profound conversations that many of the great men and women in the bible had with God, there are a couple of things in common – they were alone and they were being quiet (still). From Abraham, to Jeremiah, Moses, Samuel, Ananias (Acts 3). In Psalm 62, the Psalmist says “for God alone my soul awaits in the silence;” and in the 46th Psalm, we are commanded by God to “Be still…” It is my belief that one of Satan’s greatest lies that he has perpetrated on mankind is the necessity to be “busy,” to always have something to do or something to say. We no longer can just sit and “BE.” We always have to “DO” something. And forget about silence! Continued on next page… Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 26

One of the greatest biblical pictures of how God wants us to just sit and listen for him is found in 1 Kings 19 when God tells Elijah to go and wait for him to pass by. “The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” Did you catch that? “…After the fire came a GENTLE WHISPER.” God is not a rude, imposing or demanding God. God is a God that will wait patiently; will seek after the one while leaving the 99; He will stand at the door and knock, not POUND! He will call out in a still small voice, not a yelling, imposing, demanding tone. And the only way that we can hear Him is to first of all spend time with Him (John 10:27-30) so that we will know His voice and secondly, sit and listen for His voice. Getting back to Samuel, he was alone in his area (in the House of the Lord, where the ark of Lord was) while Eli was sleeping in his area of the “house.” Samuel didn’t have the TV on for noise to help him sleep; he didn’t have his iPhone lying next to his bedside playing music or a sermon from another one of the tabernacle priests. He was sleeping in the quietness of the night. And in that quietness, he heard God. It took him a little while – and some help from Eli - to finally “get it” but he got it. So back to my night…I didn’t have any divine revelations or no God-moment to speak of or write about, but I did have a few hours of quiet that allowed me to sit and listen for my Father’s voice for the first time in a long time…and I liked it! I got a much clearer picture of what true “comfort” is in Him. It’s not all the noise that we feel like we need to have around us to help fall asleep. It is found in the arms of God as he gently holds me while I drift off to sleep in His grasp. That’s the meaning of TRUE COMFORT. This one should be one of the most played songs of the year. He gets a standing ovation every time he sings it. As I talk to Rodney he expresses how thankful he is to all the DJ’s and fans that support his ministry. He feels so honored and blessed. Rodney is a wonderful Christian and I’m glad to have him on our label. He and his family wish all a very joyful Thanksgiving. Mary Fay Jackson comes from one of the most talented families in our industry. Her mom, dad, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles can all sing and pick. We’re talking about a super talented family. They are all very close and admire each other’s talent. I’ve known most of them for years and have never heard or seen a speck of jealousy in any of them. That kind of family is extremely hard to find these days. Mary Fay would like her family and wonderful friends to know that she loves all of them. The 2015 Terry Awards held in Branson, Missouri were a huge success this year. Some of the biggest names in show business turned out for the outstanding award ceremony and everyone had a great time as the nominee’s and special guests performed their hearts out. There was laughter mixed with tears of joy, as the nominees of each category stepped up to accept their awards. Some of the best TV stars, musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, vocal groups, sound men and stage hands were recognized for the hard work they do each and every year to entertain millions. A big congratulations to Terry Beene, who produces the show, for doing an outstanding job. Really looking forward to next year. Branson is a wonderful faith based entertainment hub that has something for the whole family to enjoy. Anna and I love to go to downtown Branson to shop when we’re there, especially to the old five and dime store. I always buy several boxes of their Walnut Pralines. Um-um wish I had some now. ~Tommy Smith

Benjamin Franklin loved turkeys so much that he suggested they be named our national bird. He was not happy when the bald eagle was chosen instead. In a letter to his daughter, he said: "For my own part I wish the Eagle had not been chosen the representative of our country. Perfect Day, For A Perfect Day! by Terry Davis www.terrydavismusic.com
I awoke this morning to the smell and feel of Fall, one of my favorite times of the year. It’s getting cooler, leaves are falling, deer season has begun, and Thanksgiving is drawing near. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. To me, Thanksgiving sums up the American Spirit! Work hard and be thankful to God, for He has sustained us beyond measure. Family, friends and good food; I love the smell of Thanksgiving! 3 things I am thankful for: 1. Family – Billy Graham said “Apart from religious influences, the family is the most important unit of society.” I was blessed with loving, Christian parents and in-laws. What a blessing! I had a head start on life! I knew that I could set great goals in life, without fear of failing, because my family loved me and supported me no matter the outcome. I was given a great Christian foundation. Jonathan Edwards said, “Every Christian family ought to be, as it were, a little church, consecrated to Christ, and wholly influenced and governed by His rules”. Remember, no one, outside of Jesus will ever love you like family. I love my family and I am thankful for them.

2. Friends – “People who accept you just as you are and love you too much to leave you that way.” I’ve been blessed with great friends! I’ve always said, “In life we have many acquaintances, but few real friends.” Keep those friends close, for they are a treasure. “Friendship improves happiness, and abates misery, by doubling our joy and dividing our grief.” (Joseph Addison) To have a friend, you have to be a friend. I thank God today for my friends! 3. Food – Growing up in the South, life revolved around the kitchen. Food was the king of the party. Food brought friends and family together, made you smile and gave you something to look forward to. I came from a long line of great cooks. What would Thanksgiving and Christmas be without the traditional foods that we all enjoy? What we eat may vary from region to region. Texas and tamales, Louisiana and gumbo, Mississippi and pecan pie or Alabama and chicken dumplings and coconut cake. I’m hungry now! I’m thankful for the great food traditions my family has and I look forward to saying the blessing on Thanksgiving and devouring some turkey and dressing, cup of gumbo, baked ham….please stop!! Thank you Jesus for the food we eat and the hands that prepare it! Amen! Family, friends and food make for great holidays, a great life, and much to look forward to each day. It’s what gets us through the hard times and helps us celebrate the good ones. Friends, I’m thankful for you! May God bless and keep you! Remember, “It’s a perfect day, for a perfect day.” Be thankful!
Gonna get some rays on my face Some sand between my toes There’s something about the sunshine That makes your spirit glow Turquoise green blue water Here at Perdido Bay Sugar white warm sand Makes for a perfect day Perfect day, to have a perfect day Let’s spread a blanket down on the sand Perfect day, to have a perfect day We can walk on the beach, hand in hand Some days it’s gonna rain But storm clouds they won’t stay As long as I have you It’s such a perfect day My my my It’s a perfect day Hey hey hey Such a perfect day Me and you Makes a perfect day Terry Davis http://terrydavismusic.com/

TIS’ THE SEASON by Brad Wilson
It’s hard to believe how fast time really flies by. This year’s Christmas Season is knocking at our door. What a wonderful time for family! With today’s electronics it’s hard sometime to keep our noses out of our computers, iPods and telephones. The Holidays are a perfect time to remedy that and make an effort to sit down and actually do something as a family. I’m so honored to suggest that you check out one of the films that I’ve had the pleasure of producing. It’s called “CHRISTMAS ON SALVATION STREET.” Widower Noah Davis feels a strong calling to move from his affluent congregation to a struggling inner city mission. Along with his young daughters, he moves into the Salvation Street Mission, where the whole family must pitch in to make the place livable before they can even think about helping the crime-ridden community. With a lot of faith, belief, and elbow grease, the impossible starts to become very much a possibility, until a local gang threatens violence. Despite all the challenges, there is a glimmer of hope for the future of the neighborhood, just in time for Christmas. I think this will be a blessing to have something safe to watch with your family and to get you into the Christmas season. People who have seen it have really enjoyed the movie and have had very nice things to say about it. We were honored to receive the DOVE FAMILY FRIENDLY AWARD for the film. Here is what the DOVE review had to say: “This faith-friendly, inspirational film offers an encouraging message about the Father’s love and the direction He offers those who accept His grace and love. The Dove Seal of Approval for all ages is proudly awarded to “Christmas on Salvation Street.” I pray you enjoy this film about real people who while they love God have experienced real grief, displacement, upheaval in their lives and as they are seeking to go on in their walk with God, while in a new venue. One review said: “I was very surprised by the powerful message of the movie, "Grace, God's grace is for everyone" and done in such a realistic fashion and that is the core message of His Word, the Bible. It’s not just a Christmas feel good movie, but one for every day of the year.” You can find “CHRISTMAS ON SALVATION STREET” at www.amazon.com. Movers and Shakers of the Country Gospel Industry by Tommy Smith
The Giving and Gifted Mike and Frances McClain
My pastor always reminds us “to those who give, much is given in return”. I have found this to be true especially for those who give and really do not expect a return. They give because they enjoy blessing others. I don’t know of two people who enjoy blessing others more than Mike and Frances McClain. They own McClain’s Recording Studio in Garland, Texas. Mike is an accomplished keyboard man and at one time the lead singer for one of the hottest bands in Dallas back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Like all bands back then they played a huge variety of music. You had to do that if you wanted to work. They played Country, Blues, Old Rock, Hard Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Classic’s, and so much more. Because of that ability to play all these styles on the keyboard it has made Mike one of the most sought after recording engineers and producers in the south. Mike specializes in cutting all types of Christian music. Mike and Frances are both born again believers and not only do they serve Christ in their business but they donate their time and talent to the church they attend faithfully. So many of the Top 20 songs in our Country Gospel field have been cut right there in Garland at Mikes studio. He has worked with artists like LeAnn Rimes, Freddie Hart, Billy Parker, Jimmy and Gina White, John Randolph, Tamatha Hurst, Dale Freidrich, Mike Culpepper, Carla Jones, Mary Fay Jackson, Psalm 100, Terry Davis, David Lemons, Keith Irwin, Jamie Lynn Flanakin, Wyatt Nations, Ray Price, Kacey Musgraves, myself and many, many more. Mike has delivered me five Number One songs and at least eight more in the Top Five of the charts in the Country Gospel Music charts. It would take too many pages to list all the artists and the endless Top Ten songs he has produced not only for Country Gospel but also Traditional Country. I’ve known Mike for many years, even before he knew Frances. Frances was a Godsend for Mike. He will tell you she is the best thing that ever happened to him. Besides being beautiful inside and out, she cooks for him, keeps books for the studio, schedules the sessions, and makes all of us that record there feel welcome and special. Her smile is as big as Texas even though she is from Virginia. The pickers that McClain uses are the best you can find. Milo Deering, Jerry Matheny, Rock Gribble, Junior Knight, Leona Rupert to mention just the few. If you Google up these musicians you will find they have picked on some of the biggest award winning Country and Pop songs ever released. When I say that Frances is a Godsend for Mike let me also say that Mike and his musicians are truly a Godsend for all of us Country Gospel Recording artists. The fee to record at the studio including the pickers is peanuts compared to most studios that produce projects as awesome as Mike produces. If you’re looking to produce a session and you are on a tight budget, give Mike and Frances a call. Let them be a blessing to you as they put their heart and soul into your project. What is Needed To Legitimize The Christian Country/Country Gospel Music Market? by Chip Bricker
I can hear some of you now saying that it is already a legitimate market. To tell you the truth, it is not. The combined genre has never garnered even a 1% share of the total music market in sales or airplay… why is that? What can we do to fix it? Why do we need to fix it? 1. Why is the genre of music not legitimate according to the industry? This genre of music has remained small due to the fact that the whole of ours has never truly pulled together to support the whole of the music itself. Instead we have “pitched” what the most influential folks could garner the most publicity from and make the most money with. I remember the days of groups like Mid South, Cross Country, The Fox Brothers, and Branded. Some are still around, but some faded away due to lack of overall support from our own. I can hear you now asking me , “What do you mean no support” lets look at a few stats. Back in the late 90s our genre was grouped in with the of reporting southern gospel. Mid South had several videos that got airplay as a result of this grouping. Royalties were better as well, and airplay was not splintered. As our genre did all it could to separate from southern gospel, we also lost the network pull that was attached at the time. Now southern gospel has also lost almost all its market share, thus leaving room for something else to fill that void, but even “back in the good ole days”, it was still hard to sell copies. It doesn’t matter if we have distribution if the product is not in demand. 2. What can we do to fix it? Sales come from a demand for the product. We need to find where there is a demand for our type of music and attempt to sell it to that market without over-saturating that market. We can’t sell more units than the market can buy. Therefore, we need to grow the market and make it support our music as one voice or look to other markets. I understand that many ministries have different target markets, and that is good, but some ministries don’t know what their market is or they just do music to be doing music. It’s time we concentrate on the focus of all working together to broaden the market and make the many subgenres of our industry as one. Keep the quality of the music relevant to your ministry calling and don’t vary from it. Get endorsements from other ministries and churches that you workwith. And by all means, Cross Promote your music. Another part of this solution is getting the pastors and church groups in behind the whole music style and supporting it as one. I know I’ll get flack for that, but that’s how it is… too many pastors and churches want to promote their own agenda rather than all promoting God’s full agenda together. We have over 20 associations of this organization that are representing their genre of country gospel/Christian country/positive country/inspo country. If every cowboy pastor in America would endorse the whole of “our” style of music, we would be legitimized. Not to mention if all organizations could work together as one unit promoting one thing, God’s message. The results would be staggering. Continued on next page… Christian Servant Magazine - November, 2015 - Page 37
Continued from previous page.
3. Why do we need to fix it? If we don’t do something to fix it, then our ministries will all fall by the wayside and the full potential of this multi-genre of music will not reach its potential. Satan wants it to die. We seem to be in so much competition with one another that we forget the real competition. Yes, it is good to keep improving and being diverse. But if we are ever going to truly legitimize the country side of Christian Music, then we have to work together as one genre, one market, and one ultimate ministry for the glory of God.. Christian music as a whole has approximately 9% of all music sales total within the US. Our genre is less than 5% of that 9%. Let’s band together and find a common ground to increase these numbers and thus gain support from the Christian community as a whole. Too many music artists enter the country side of Christian music hoping to work their way into the mainstream. This is not an avenue for that. It’s never happened to any success. Let’s keep the main thing the main thing and agree to work together for the Glory of God. And, yes, I do have more specific ideas on how to make this happen should anyone wish to contact me on this matter. Thanks and God Bless, Chip Bricker (Chip Bricker has a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Baylor University and a Masters in Consumer Behavior. Chip has also played for many music stars and produced or played on more than 20 #1 singles as well as more than 100 charting Singles in various genres of music. Contact: chipbricker@cableone.net)
