Founded in 1985, the Consortium for Worker Education is a non-profit workforce development agency dedicated to improving the lives of working New Yorkers through training and job placement. Working through a network of labor unions and community based organizations, the CWE provides:
쐍 Upgrade training for incumbent workers 쐍 Workforce preparation 쐍 Job training
Worker Service Center Program, funded by the New York City Council, provides a wide variety of workforce preparation classes in neighborhoods across the city. All instruction is provided by members of the United Federation of Teachers at community centers, union halls, New York City Housing Authority sites and houses of worship. 쐍 Job placement services 쐍 Computer and internet use Union Programs CWE serves as the training and education arm of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO and provides worker upgrade training to forty six affiliates.
