Pitta Patta
This duo of earthy sisters are ambassadors of natural skincare for babies both being mothers and naturopaths (a fancy word for natural & holistic therapists). It is obvious that they have used their knowledge in both arenas to develop and formulate their natural skincare range for children. Just take a look at the ingredients list of some of their products and its clear to see they put a lot of thought into the best ingredients for the best effect. I love that this company is not just about their products but also using their energies in ‘supporting parenting from the heart’! The range is rightly endorsed by midwives, mothers and Radio 2 speaker Janey Lee Grace. Visit their store at pittapatta.com/ukstore or go say hello to them on twitter.com/pittapattauk and facebook
Bubble Bath
Made with organic Lavender, Bergamont, Aloe Vera & their signature gem essences (which help to heal little ones emotionally as well as physically. The gem essences used in the bubble bath may calm and soothe the mind, creating space for imaginary play) this bubble bath will make bath time relaxing (lavender essence) and nourishing (aloe vera). The sweet little elephant (called Elly) on all Pitta Patta packaging is a cute touch and highlights really well the lovely maternal similarities between humans and animals. Look out for the ‘did you know’ labels on the back of each product - this one made me sigh a long ah. Review the bubble bath on our website for 20% off further purchases at Pitta Patta’s online store.

Ulrich Natörlich
Jack n’ Jill
German cleaning products company Ulrich Natürlich meaning Naturally Ulrich was founded on 3 key principles - high quality, uncompromisingly ecological and customer centric. Despite growing into a midsize company their integrity still remains as does their willingness to interact with their customers.
Jack & Jill went up the hill…only it doesn’t end with tumbling kiddies but a tasty natural toothpaste for kiddies. CEO Justin revived this family business back in 2011 from a brand that had been going since 1949. Going back to his pharmacist roots after the birth of his first child he saw the opportunity to formulate a truly child friendly toothpaste rather than an adult toothpaste in a kid friendly tube (like some companies we won’t mention). Now with 2 children Justin and his wife Rachel have brought fun back into bathrooms for kids in Australia, the UK and US.

Mother of two Elena Cimelli had breastfed on both occasions, and not unlike most mothers had some niggles in the beginning,. Despite her initial difficulties, she was able to continue till 10 and 11 months respectively. She very wisely cooked, bagged and froze meals in preparation for parenthood - when there is little time to slave over a stove, let alone muster the brain power to think up what to eat. After hearing a friends difficult experience with breastfeeding and trying to build supply she looked at research around lactogenic foods and came up with the fabulous idea of putting all the different ingredients into a cookbook for mothers who were also interested in building their supply and enjoying delicious fuss-free and healthy meals (rather than the copious amounts of chocolate you can easily resort to in the early months).
Recipe Booklet The best thing about this book is that whether you are a breastfeeding mother or not, most of the recipes can be made and frozen ready to be devoured at your hungriest and when you haven’t got a slice of energy left. (Those that can’t be frozen are either quick and easy to make at the time, or can be made and stored in the fridge). We’ve all had those moments so it’s well worth going through the ones you like, writing up a grocery list, getting all the tools and pans you need and spend a day cooking and freezing. You can start small and cook for a week or be ambitious and cook meals for a month! Either way you’ll be very glad to have something delicious to eat when you need it most.

Cedar House What is the inspiration behind Cedars House? I counselled a mother with PND in 2003 and when she recovered she and her husband wanted to give something back to the service I had provided so The Cedar House Support Group was formed, funded by the couple until three years ago. We now rely solely on donations, grants and fundraising. What would you tell a new mum who thinks she may be suffering from post natal depression? I would advise any mum who thinks they may have PND to go to their GP who can advise them on help and support. What about other forms of depression like ante-natal depression or baby blues? Baby blues is very common affecting about 50% of new mums, it happens around day 3 when a mother’s milk comes in. Ante natal depression affects around 10% of pregnant women, and the symptoms are very similar to PND. How can a mum help if she suspects a friend is in need? Listening is one of the
most important things a friend could do to help a mother with PND. Not judging and reassuring her that she will get better. She could also offer to go to the GP with her. Your top 3 tips for dealing with PND? Top three tips are try and get as much rest as you can as tiredness makes PND worse. Confide in someone about your feelings, talking can really help.. Eat little and often, every two to three hours to keep your blood sugar level stable- see http://www.postnataldepression. com/self-help/nutrition-for-postnataldepression for more info. How would a mum get in touch with you? A mum can get in touch with me through my website www.postnataldepression.com, all my contact details are on the site. How do we support the wonderful work you’re doing? Donations can be made through our just giving site www.justgiving.com/ cedarhousesupport
