the promenade The Promenade is a revolutionary new way to experience the city of Toronto. The building, which contains a large theatre and its ameneties as well as a gallery and a 200-unit residential tower, works with its site in such a way as to create two channels of urban activity and pedestrian movement. On the West side, a large park with ribbon benches reaches across both streets, connecting to an existing park. On the East, a laneway is activated to become a lively market, and an outdoor tunnel bridges the two.

chair for lazarus gitu Current Design-Build Project Collaboration with Sneha Sumanth This chair, designed for contortionist Lazarus Gitu, is a current work-inprogress for a third year structures course. The process includes prototypes and analyses to understand first-hand the structural forces moving through its members. The chair has several positions, can be rolled up or rolled around, and is flexible much like a contortionist.
PLAN
breathwalk SIDE ELEVATION
Like the gentle tide of incoming and outgoing inhalations and exhalations, breathwalk is a walk-through pavillion designed to rhythmically relax the mind through a series of compressions and expansions. One moment, the wanderer may feel closed in on - squeezed towards the ground, heavy. The next moment follows with a sense of total release, as if it is the whole world opening up ahead.

This project explores the balance between the specific accomodation needs of a writer living in solitude, a very limited amount of floorspace (80 sq. m) and seclusion from distractions through natural surroundings, materiality, light and circulation. My design for this writer’s residence is located on a tall ridge overlooking Taylor Lake in Cambridge, Ontario.
Composed of two main axes, this temporary residence has distinct separation between public, semi-private and private spaces. The main feature of this residence is the high-cieling studio which projects out of the house and provides panoramic views of the lake and forest which surround it.

SITE MAP
“Habitable combines compactability with versatility to become the perfect assemblable house. Its A-frame shape and structure address the climate conditions of southern Ontario; snow and the need to adapt to varying climates. The house is compact providing only what is needed in terms of space & utilization. In plan it can be split into four quadrants with the washrooms and kitchen at its centre. Circulation runs through the central axis of the house. Three of the four quadrants are customizable to either be single bedrooms, a master bedroom or a dining area through the use of compacted manipulatable partitions and versatile panels which come down from the walls, while the fourth is a permanant living area.

roll up bridge SSEF Competition Entry 2011 Collaboration with Kristin Allison This rolling pedestrian bridge, which is proposed for construction in Amsterdam’s Red Light District, is modelled after the fern, which uncoils itself every spring from a perfect geometric spiral.
ELEVATIONS
When not in use, the bridge remains rolled up at the side of the canal, allowing boats to pass by, mysterious and unrevealing as to what its purpose really is. However, when the bridge is needed by pedestrians and cyclists alike, it unravels itself piece by piece, transforming into a walkable horizontal platform.
cathedral mosque With S. Willman, S. Sumanth, V. Cocuz, V. Angardi, N. Bellefleur This 1 : 100 sectional model was created for a cultural history course. The finished project measures 1.8m long by 1.3m wide and 0.4m tall. The great mosque features over 700 columns, tiered as well as horseshoe arches throughout, an impressive orange grove and a cathedral at its centre which was added by crusaders in the 16th century.

rico+roa arquitectos January - May 2012 C贸rdoba, Spain The Alcolea Student Residence is a facility that encompasses the practical as well as social aspects of student life. The building consists of a variety of public spaces (lounge, fitness, library) and terraces as well as private apartments which accomodate between 3 and 5 students each with a combination of single and double rooms. I was given the freedom to develop this project concept, and in the process learned an immense amount about pratcical architecture and design.
I built this scale model of Rica+Roa’s project “Cerro Muriano” using laser-cut pieces of thick, opaque plexiglass. It was the firm’s first experience using a laser cutter, and I was happy to show them everything I knew about the technology.

lomography HQ Architecture & Exhibition Design Intern October - December 2012 Vienna, Austria During my internship at Lomography Headquarters International, I was given the opportunity and responsibility to design four trade show booths, Bon Marché and Maison & Objet in Paris, Tsvetnoy in Moscow and Top Drawer in London. This involved space layout, visual merchandising and product placement, wall and floor treatment, furniture design and workshop co-ordination. I also prepared “look books” to give each storefront an idea about seasonal and themed window displays.

Adamson & Associates Architects Member of the “Ottawa Light Rail Transit project team. May - August 2013 Toronto, Canada During my summer at Adamson & Associates Architects in Toronto, I was exposed to the many phases of a design project and to the world of commercial clients and buildings. Specifically, I worked on the Maintenance & Storage Facility for the Ottawa Light Rail Transit System scheduled for construction in 2018. I used AutoCAD and Revit to edit and update construction documents, I prepared diagrams, reports and presentations for my project managers, and I actively participated in finalizing the interior design decisions and choosing finishes for the MSF.

custom graphic CV Over the past year, I have helped several individuals develop a graphic identity and stand out in the pile of resumés by creating individual infographic-style CV’s and business cards. Primarily using Adobe Illustrator, I find creative ways to effectively & visually display information while also relating a sense of the person, whether by colour scheme, layout or typography. I really enjoy small scale graphic design projects such as these, and hope to develop these skills further in the future.

attic bedroom When presented with the unique opportunity to create my own living space, I designed and transformed the once small and dark attic of a 100-year old home in the heart of Cambridge into the bedroom of my dreams. My first realized design project, this was a major stepping stone for me as I was able to observe and guide the process through each of its many stages.
handmade I like to make beautiful things. It’s not that I have spare time, but I have potential time: riding the train or bus to work or school, waiting for anything or anyone, etc. I use this time to create beautiful, functional things, which I often give as gifts or sell online.
