Envision Magazine In the fall of 2009, several classes at Andrews University combined their efforts to create and publish a magazine. “Envision is a christian lifestyle magazine now created entirely by students. Brought on first as a marketing consultant, I later became one of the editors for the Arts and Entertainment section.

From Beginning...

... to End Here I utilized Photoshop to stitch together several photographs taken in sequence. The timeline shows my piece beginning to end, showcasing my unique process as photographer and designer.

Muhammad Ali Estate Known as the greatest boxer ever, former Olympian Muhammad Ali owns a gated estate along the St. Joe River. The 3,500- square-foot estate rests on an 81-acre property on the northeast side of town.

Rotary Island Park

This park was donated to the Berrien County in May 1998 by the Berrien Springs Eau Claire Rotary Club. The park area provides hiking, fishing, and many opportunities for relaxing. A bench provides a nice view of the swift moving St. Joe river below.

Wolf Prairie Playground The area of Berrien Springs was settled in 1829. It was originally the home of an Indian Chief named Wolf which is why the area was called Wolf's Prairie. In 1831, the name was changed to Berrien after John M. Berrien, President Andrew Jackson's attorney general.

Rose Hill Cemetery Going to the cemetery might not be everybody‘s idea of a tourist attraction, but this cute little cemetery that lies close to center of Berrien Springs is a quiet place to visit. Besides the historical facts found on the tomb stones, there are some benches here and there in the garden to rest tired legs.

Oronoko Park

To ensure the safety of all those taking this bike route, be advised that there are some paths that require you to cross streets. Please use crosswalks when crossing streets.

STOP Also, we understand that families may use this bike route for family quality time. The route is approximately 8.5mi. Therefore, we recommend that each family plans which stops on the route they will visit as the entire route may be too much to do all at once.

BERRIEN SPRINGS

Bicylcle Route

This nice park on Snow Road has both enclosed and open shelters. The open shelter contains picnic tables, grills and access to portable toilets. The enclosed shelter also contains picnic tables, restrooms and access to running water. There is also a playground for families with young children.

Berrien Springs Courthouse The Courthouse in Berrien Springs was built in 1839. Throughout the years, Michigan’s oldest courthouse has been transformed into a dance hall, church, community center, and a low-income apartment complex. At one point, the building also served as the campus location for nearby Andrews University.

Horn Archaeological Museum The Museum houses an extensive collection of ancient artifacts including coins, weapons, seals, glass vessels, figurines, pottery, sculptures, tools and jewelry. Be sure to check out the display of over 3,000 ancient cuneiform tablets from Sumerian through Neo-Babylonian times. Hours are 3:00-5:00 on Saturdays.

Globe The bike ride culminates at the large copper-color globe at Andrews University’s front entrance. This is the perfect opportunity to stop and take some pictures before heading home. When the new entrance was created in 2008, the University’s Provost, Heather Knight said the globe acknowledges that Andrews is a global institution with a global vision.
