Confidence. Leadership. Friendship. Enthusiasm. This is Saint Saviour High School. WHY CHOOSE AN ALL-GIRLS SCHOOL? According to the National Coalition of Girls Schools (NCGS), “At an all-girls school, girls take center stage and are encouraged to speak their minds without interruption. We not only observe this daily on our campuses, but research also supports this unique characteristic of girls’ schools.” (June 2017) Rooted in the tradition of the School Sisters of Notre Dame for whom “teaching extends beyond the classroom and into the lives of the people they serve - especially women”, SSHS offers young women a transforming college preparatory education that challenges them to live lives of leadership and service grounded in Catholic spirituality. “Single-sex programs…create an institutional and classroom climate in which female students can express themselves freely and frequently, and develop higher order thinking skills,” as per the research of Dr. Rosemary C. Salomone ’64. WHY CHOOSE SAINT SAVIOUR HIGH SCHOOL? Saint Saviour “instills the qualities needed to a leader.” ~Sarah M. ‘15 (Princeton University) Saint Saviour “brought out leadership qualities in me that I didn’t know I had and taught me to be courageous, kind and humble.” ~Mary F. ‘17, Student Council President (Fordham University) “I now have the confidence to excel.” ~Nia P. ‘15 (Seton Hall University) “Saint Saviour has empowered me! I could have never imagined running for school president my freshman year but here I am now - president of Saint Saviour HS.” Gabby J. ‘15 (St. John’s University) “We love one another as a community, as a family.” ~Isabella W. ‘18 “Here, there’s so much diversity that I didn’t feel I had to fit in but I could be who I want to be and I can express myself how I want.” ~Olivia C. ‘15 (Macaulay Honors College) “We learned so much from each other about different religions.” ~ Taylor T. ‘16 (NYU Tisch School of the Arts) “Freedom of expression” are the three words Alaina F. ‘20 uses to describe SSHS. Erinkate Joseph Peart ’91, P’19 notes “scholarship, sisterhood, and service.” Saint Saviour “teaches you how to manage your time, how to balance your life and how to integrate (activities) into one another so you never feel stressed.” ~Caroline A. ‘17 (Georgetown University) “If you play one sport, you play three at Saint Saviour, since it is a small school. Juggling practices and games, while trying to manage schoolwork is not easy, but the friendships made…will last us a lifetime.” ~Lauren D. ‘17 (The University of Scranton) On “senior retreat, we had a chance to unwind in the relaxing countryside with our friends, share our feelings, and grow in our spirituality. (We) really connected.” ~Olivia B. ‘17 (Northeastern University) “As a student, you are focused on academics but art allows you to channel that inner creative side.” ~Madeleine C. ‘16 (United States Naval Academy) Other creative avenues available for discovery are Drama Club, Gospel Choir, Music Ensemble, Skyline (newspaper), Thabor (yearbook), Voices (literary/arts magazine). Molly T. ‘16 (Adelphi University) believes “travel gives a whole new perspective on the world.” Recent and future travel options are Switzerland & Italy ‘16, Philadelphia ‘16, Japan ‘17, Boston ‘17, Spain ‘18, Washington D.C. ‘18, and Ireland ‘19. Jane O’Meara Sanders ’68, while on the 2016 presidential campaign trail with her husband, returned home to SSHS and encouraged students to “recognize what you’re getting here – a foundation that allows you to do whatever you want.” More about Saint Saviour HS • 25% of recent graduates are studying in STEM based areas • 12 Advanced Placement courses • College Advantage Program with St. John’s University • Faculty available for review classes: AP, Regents, and general • Naviance for college and career readiness, supported by two qualified counselors • 74% of the Class of 2017 earned almost $9 million in merit scholarships • Active campus ministry • 9 Varsity teams and 3 JV teams compete in the GCHSAA and various tournaments • Merit-based scholarships will be awarded based on TACHS exam results and academic record • Need-based financial aid is available - stsaviour.org/admissions/scholarship-financial-aid/ • 2017-18 Tuition: $10,300 RECENT COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES INCLUDE: Binghamton, Boston College, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Georgia Tech, George Washington University, Macaulay Honors College, Mount Holyoke, Northeastern University, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Parsons School of Design, Princeton University, Quinnipiac, Rochester Institute of Technology, School of Visual Arts (SVA), Stony Brook University, Syracuse University, University of Connecticut, University of Richmond, Villanova University and Worcester Polytechnic.
