The ‘Weave’

The weave narrative has been derived from the Arabic cultural heritage of ‘Khous’ which is the art of palm weaving. There are many applications for the palm weave, such as decorative furniture, hats, shade and shelters amongst many others.

The weave narrative within the Yas South community can metaphorically weave the community together but also literally through form, shape and space. The simplest demonstrative form is that of paving as seen below but as with the applications of palm weaving the applications for weave as a landscape narrative can apply to all landscape elements, from streets furniture to planting arrangements and even shade structures.
