Design Philosophy 01
Introduction
Our mission to provide Fabled Service to you is the foundation of our design philosophy, which guides our methodologies, processes, and approach in the development of your vision. Our philosophy is simple, and is defined by four pillars of thought: WE PROVIDE YOU THE BEST SERVICE WE OFFER YOU THE BEST POSSIBLE PRODUCT WE CONSISTENTLY THINK WIN-WIN WE ENJOY THE WORK WE DO Whether it be in our professional service, our customer service, or our support service we constantly seek to provide the best service to you. As a part of our work, we effectively understand restrictions in scope, schedule, budget, and environment, and use these constraints as creative opportunities. Similarly, we understand that not every solution is perfect, and assess the costs and benefits of every decision, seeking only the most amicable results. Lastly, we see beyond the black and white, and enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with you now and in the future. Together, our foundation and pillars hold the pediment of our designs, and is further described in our methodology, processes and approach. EXPERIENCE WITH STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES. Designing public facilities in 2021 and beyond requires knowledge and experience. The GO Architects team not only has the knowledge, skill, experience and qualifications, but most importantly, we have the passion to be your design team. Our depth of knowledge in planning and designing public schools is second to none. The knowledge we have gained over the years makes us compassionate and sensible architects and has afforded us the opportunity to understand and build a mutually respectful and beneficial relationship with the agencies involved in Southern California construction, including Division of the State Architect (DSA) and the various local agencies including fire and health departments.
Experience in Architecture GO Architects is the synergy of an award-winning team of design professionals who have spent over fifteen years working together to provide innovative strategies and sensitive design solutions to educational, civic and commercial facilities throughout California and abroad. Project Scheduling & Cost Estimating 01
Introduction
ON TIME GO Architects provides timely project delivery using our proven schedule management system and always begin our projects with the “end in mind”. We ensure that our consultants, their staff and workload will allow them to be involved in your project(s) from start to finish, providing our clients the highest level of attention and meeting all deadlines. Adhering to schedule is critical to every project’s success. GO Architects undertakes a rigorous process of reviewing and coordinating the anticipated timelines for project phases, (including those outside the scope of our work) to assure that all work is progressing according to schedule. Our team develops schedules for all tasks – from Preliminary Planning through Occupancy. Our team will work with the project staff to establish and provide project delivery options and anticipated schedules for specific bid packages. Primary elements included on the project schedule are A/E task and milestones, quality control programs, reviews and approval dates, value analysis sessions, regulatory submittal and the schedule will be reviewed at the team’s project meetings for constant monitoring of all activities. Monthly schedule updates will be provided to the Owner comparing planned vs. actual progress. GOAI has a proven track record in meeting or exceeding project schedules and project budget/cost requirements. ON BUDGET GO Architects works with the project team and an outside cost estimator in the assessment of costs and constructibility for the project on an ongoing basis. This interactive process allows the development of cost-effective solutions. We believe this collaborative effort to be highly valuable to the client. These efforts often result in solutions that allow understanding of operational/use cost to be taken into account early in the design phase. GOAI will always promote the use of materials and systems on projects that have the most longevity and wear resistance on a project. We will work closely with the owner’s facility personnel to determine the best materials and equipment for use in a building based upon the historical use of material on a specific campus, while at the same time recommending consideration of new materials or systems that may perform more acceptably that those currently in use. Ultimately it is the decision of the owner to direct and control materials and systems in new facilities.

Project Monitoring & Closeout 01
Introduction
PROJECT MONITORING Our design approach monitors the progress, quality, schedule, and budget responsiveness of the team and project documents at regular intervals during project development; a method for identifying issues impacting project development before they become too costly. We stress review of project documents by all participating representatives such as owner’s groups, construction management, & contractor. By reviewing the project at key milestones, maintaining open and clear communication, and scheduling owner review periods for project documents, we achieve clarity throughout the process. We encourage you to make comments and address changes during these reviews. As the project continues, the design team synthesizes this information and incorporates your comments and changes into the project as a key part of the development process. PROJECT CLOSEOUT Our straight-forward and proven checklist has afforded GOAI many successful project closeouts. We ask:
Are all closeout documents such as as-builts, verified reports, lab reports and final change orders in? Are all extra stock items turned over to the client and signed? Are all punch list items addressed or 150% of value retained? Is notice of completion filed at the correct time and is the appropriate retention amount released? The correct execution of these questions leads to a speedy and successful closeout with certification for occupancy.

Sustainability Criteria 01
Introduction
CHPS Decarbonization strategies are paramount as we move together through the 21rst century. GOAI’s commitment to environmental stewardship rests on our shared values and vision for the future of California schools. The CA-CHPS Criteria is a flexible yardstick that defines a high performance school in California. CA-CHPS addresses integration, indoor environmental quality, energy, water, site, materials & waste management, and operations & metrics. We support the suggestion that school districts adopt the criteria for their new and existing schools. GOAI is familiar with the CHPS criteria for rating environmental effectiveness of built projects and can work to incorporate categories from the CHPS scorecard into our planning phase so that Title 24 energy standards and CalGreen mandatory measures are met as applicable for each project. LEED GO Architects is very familiar with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program developed by the United States Green Building Council. LEED Accredited Professionals are key members of our team. As a LEED accredited professionals, our design respects all of the design criteria for green design but we go beyond that to what we termed “Sensible” Green. A green design that cannot be economically maintained or cost effectively acquired is a WASTE. We incorporate life cycle analysis into our green design and we especially incorporate the District’s maintenance abilities into the equation also. LEED certified projects completed by principals at GOAI include, Sontag Residence Hall at Harvey Mudd College, and Citrus Continuation High School for Fontana Unified School District. GOING BEYOND Going beyond CHPS and LEED, which do not provide up-front financial benefit to a project, we have worked with Savings By Design while designing projects for our clients. Savings By Design is a program that was developed to help our clients qualify for financial incentives to be applied during the design and construction phases of a project. The GO Architects team is also currently involved with a number of Prop 39 projects. The Prop 39 program is a funding mechanism developed by the State to encourage Districts to make significant reductions in energy use on existing school campuses through increasing energy efficiency. The latest step in the effort to create more sustainable buildings within California is the adoption of the California Green Building Standards (CALGreen). This expansion to the building code contains mandatory measures for both residential and non-residential new construction. For school design and construction the requirements apply to any new buildings and associated site work; whether placed on a new site, or on an existing school campus or district facility. GOAI is familiar with these requirements, and has recent practical experience gained through our projects begun over the past year.

Strategies for Collaboration, Communication and Community Building WORKING WITH THE DISTRICT GO Architects employs an interactive approach to planning and designing in which clients and consultant partners become key participants from the “get go” of each project and working collaboratively in the development of design solutions. Clients, consultants and end-users of the facilities are invited to work directly with our project team to identify challenges and goals related to the project. The entire team actively participates in the process while keeping budget and schedule in consideration. The final design always reflects the input of each of the project team members involved in the process and is the validation of our client’s project goals, schedule and budget.
Community Involvement GO Architects’ project development process is very collaborative, from working with our team of engineering professionals to working with the end-users on a campus, and all facets in between. Our consultant partners become key participants from the “get go” of each project, and work collaboratively in the development of design solutions. End users and District staff work directly with our project team to identify challenges and goals related to the project. The entire team actively participates in the process while keeping budget and schedule in consideration. Our commitment to working with committees made up of community stake holders, staff and students ensure that everyone’s needs are valued and are met. We have gone through extensive public ‘town hall’ meetings with the community of Moreno Valley for their Canyon Springs High School New Stadium project, in order to provide the community with information and to solicit feedback from community members. We consider this type of involvement, which goes far beyond the typical, as an extension of our commitment to providing fabled service to our clients. As the project is developed, we engage the end users and community members at the appropriate time to supplement the information provided by the District. This process is the validation of our client’s project goals, schedule and budget. IN-HOUSE RESOURCES GO Architects is equipped to perform professional services as needed. We utilize high speed Internet and hp computers equipped with Windows, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office for day-to-day tasks and e-mail communication. PROPOSAL FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES
Project Approach: Quality Control for Design Our methodology, like our philosophy, is comprehensive, yet simple. By first seeking to understand your goals, your constraints, and your standards we can successfully conceptualize solutions that meet your needs and effectively convey our ideas to you. Through our process and approach, we can efficiently control key metrics such as schedule and cost, and easily complete projects within scope, on-time, and on-budget. Ultimately, our final design solutions will reflect the input of each collaborator as the validation of your goals. Typically, we complete progress-estimates after each major phase of the project prior to construction. Following our service buckets, we break down each project into the following phases: PRE-DESIGN/SITE VERIFICATION SCHEMATIC DESIGN ENTITLEMENT SERVICES DESIGN DEVELOPMENT CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION BIDDING AND NEGOTATION CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION SERVICES
Extensive RFI management and close communication enables GOAI and our partners to guide the construction process with regularity and accountability through the project.
With a proven track record in exceeding project schedules, we undergo a rigorous process of coordinating and reviewing anticipated time-lines for each project phase (including anything outside the scope of work) to assure work is progressing according to plan. Again, following each phase, we develop schedules for all major architectural and engineering tasks, and include primary elements such as Quality Control Programs, Reviews and Approval Dates, Value Analysis Sessions, Regulatory Submittal and Reviews, and Cost Estimate Reviews. We work with you to establish project delivery options and anticipated schedules for specific bid packages, such as site grading, utilities, building core and shell, building interior design & build-out, and site finishes. Schedules are reviewed as a part of the regular project meetings for constant monitoring of activities. And, monthly schedule updates are provided to you comparing planned and actual progress. When developing project documents, we ensure each system (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is seamlessly coordinated. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and related software, we identify conflicts in documents and designs. We often utilize a construction manager or a peer review for an outside, detailed, and timely constructibility review.

The Jordan High School project entails the addition of new campus structures and major renovation of approximately 301,663 sf of existing school buildings, located at 6500 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach.

The Fuscoe team is providing civil engineering services for master planning, conceptual design purposes, final design and construction administration. The project tasks include topographic surveys in addition to precise grading and utility plans. A vacated street that once bisected the campus and is still full of utilities, made the utility design especially difficult. The first two phases of the project included the addition of five new buildings and 42 temporary classrooms as well as modifications to an existing parking lot at the southwest corner of the site. KORDYAK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LOCATION
Fontana, CA | CLIENT NTD Architecture* for Rialto Unified School District
The new Kordyak Elementary School, a Rialto Unified School District project, is situated on 14 acres in the City of Fontana and is comprised of eight one-story buildings.
courtyard view of kordyak elementary school library building with grass amphitheater
The Kordyak Elementary School project presented a number of challenges for the Fuscoe Engineering team. The site drops 45 ft. from north to south and is in a remote area with limited infrastructure. The sewer was brought up from nearly a mile away. No storm drains exist; the area sheet flows across the site, so Low Impact Development (LID) features were incorporated into the design and the project was graded with two master pads as well as a large detention basin, which gradually empties into a graded off-site earthen swale. Agency coordination involved the City of Fontana and the West Valley Water District. STATUS

Rialto, CA | CLIENT NTD Architecture* for Rialto Unified School District
This Rialto Unified School District Middle School campus features 10 one-story buildings on an 18.5-acre parcel. The school site drops 11 ft. from north to south, but with all of the proposed hardscape, it was challenging for the Fuscoe team to grade the site to meet ADA requirements and minimize the use of retaining walls. Through strategically locating the site’s landscaped areas, while sloping the parking lot where practical, the grading issue was resolved. Rebuilding the street along the frontage also created some challenges due to existing grades. With some creativity, ingenuity and careful evaluation of the existing street, a cost-effective solution was developed. STATUS

La Puente, CA | HMC Architects & Echo Pacific Construction for Rowland USD
As part of the Nogales High School campus “Revival” campaign, four outdated buildings were demolished to make way for new construction. The 60,000 sf redevelopment consists of a modern two-story classroom and administrative building, a high-volume multi-purpose building, outdoor stage area, single-story food service building and a “Super Room” with four individual classrooms that open up into one expansive area for meetings. The project also included new outdoor student spaces and a redesigned parking lot. The Fuscoe team provided design development, construction documents and survey staking, as well as mapping easement and legal description documents. The biggest civil engineering challenge entailed relocation of an existing 8’ X 8’ Los Angeles County Flood Control box culvert. A 466 LF section of the new culvert was rerouted to avoid the new building construction. The work effort included structural design, hydraulic calculations, plan design and processing. STATUS
