MY GOALS: No agent or agency yet. I’m back in this industry after leaving in 2002 to get my bachelor's in business administration and being married but now I'm divorced and ready for this. I want to be able to make a living from modeling So I can make this my full time job but for now I'm a free lance model.
CEO of TEAM DIVA MODELING AGENCY
How did you get into the modeling agency business and why? I think the real question is why did I get into this business lol somebody discovered me on twitter. He liked the way I was talking to woman & getting their attention so he made me a recruiter for his company called Team Sexy Ladies, after doing that for while I started asking myself "why am I bringing women to him when I should bring woman to me...my own company" and since I don’t like to work for anybody for too long I finally decided to create my own company/and it was an instant success..so much of a success that it got the attention from Bad Boy Representative Shannon "Slam" Lawrence a couple months back regarding him wanting to invest in my company/agency & we still communicate till this day. What is modeling work and how do prospective models get started? It's all different kinds of modeling work, if you’re an eye candy model it's a little different, if you’re a fashion model it's a little different. It's all different kind of models but I think modeling work starts with the face. Making your face look beautiful & presentable; having the right attitude because models have a reputation of being stuck-up, it's also in a models appearance. How they walk, how they dress, the look makes a model, not to mention a sexy pair of stilettos. Once a model works hard on all of those things I just mentioned then she soon will be ready to get started on being a model.

What advice can you give aspiring models? First decide if this is really the goal that u what to accomplish then reach for it but know that it is not going to happen overnight. That it takes hard work, determination and money...yes money but that’s a small price to pay to be the next top model. Don't let anybody tell u that u cannot do it. Let haters boost your ego...feed off hatred' What are some of the things that you do to keep a model in your agency at the top of modeling? I just motivate them; I love all of my models in my agency. I think they are all beautiful and I wouldn't have it any other way. Whatever I feel they need to work on I tell them straight up to work on it because life is a competition & I will not lose, my models, company/agency represents me. Like I said...I WILL NOT LOSE. I have the most beautiful woman in any agency on any website in any magazine right now and I'm going to keep it that way!! What is the difference between the different models (such as runway and high fashion)? Eye can't models are just that; they put the attention on their physical features such as they're breast, hips & behind. That's they're talent where runway & high fashion models are a different story. You have to work on being a runway model; You have to know now to walk the runway. That’s a major skill and a model can make major money with that skill, she focuses her attention on her face & her appearance rather than her behind and other physical features and that's the same way with a high fashion model, both of those types of models work hard in what they do not to say an eye candy model doesn't work hard but a lotta eye candy models feel they should get major pay over night by just having a big behind even if they have flaws on other parts of they're body. A model represents beauty, all around beauty. Beauty is power.
model I think is the super model; a model that models everywhere all over the world and gets paid. Can you tell us some of the pitfalls of the modeling industry that a prospective model should look out for? First of all do your research. Every good model needs professional photos but you have to do your research on photographers especially if you’re doing a TF Shoot because a TF Shoot can mean since you don't have the money to pay, you can pay in "other ways". That's one of the worst things to happen to a model or any woman and you might not get your photos back. That can be a major pitfall. Photographers if not well researched can also get models for they're money. Those 2 major pitfalls can discourage a model so much she will quit modeling...I deal with those situations very often. Can you give us some of the initial steps a model should take to break into the fashion industry? A model should look into doing fashion shows or modeling clothes or shoes at a local boutique. I tell my models to always have their "A Game" on which means always look your best everywhere you go because you never know who's looking and first appearance counts. That's how u get discovered. How should a prospective or established model pick a modeling agency? Once again have your "A Game" on. Always look your best, a model should be able to walk into an agency and that agency should say "Yes; we want you, we can work with you and make you a lot of money". Every model has to do their research when looking for a good agency whether you’re established or not. Models need promotions in order to get booked for a paying gig so just don’t focus on getting paid. A model needs skills & training for an agency to book them for work.
What does it mean to be a national, international, and world model? Well I think a national model means being a model in the United States and from the United States where an international model means that model might be from and model in say Australia, Asia & other parts of the world. A world

When you are bullied you don’t really know why or how it begins it just does. In the sixth grade I was called “shorty”. I really did not care at the time I was one of the shortest students in my class. Day in and day out it started to get on my last nerve. I eventually ignored whenever someone said it and did not acknowledge when someone called me that. Throughout my elementary years sixth, seventh and eighth grades you see the same students and alternate teachers. So seeing the same students in small hallways it easily allows arguments and even fights to start. On day someone can be your best friend and by the end of the day your worst enemy. I was typically quiet, a good student, was liked by my teachers and most of the students. With any school there are groups of what I will call the rebels, bullies or troublemakers. Yes I had them all in my class for three years. Because I listened in class, respected my teachers and did not run wild at night I was not liked but I was popular. It was at that time I knew that the students that were being treated like me gravitated to me. I loved them. We had an ethnic mix in my neighborhood and I called everyone my friend. It started to get more difficult and the end of sixth grade. Because I ignored the name-calling and did what was expected of me it escalated.
Seventh grade you start to become the top of the entire school as a senior in high school would. Your not a freshman anymore and you should know better. Our school had only after school non-competition sports. We did have groups you could join but after an exhausting day of work and dealing with the peer pressure I went directly home. They took the wind out of my wings and I was tired. I would get home and just want to relax. I did not care to hang with anyone scared that if I did there might be trouble. I spent a lot of time with my mother and siblings. I guess you could say I wanted to keep my reputation even then. Believe it or not I live one half a block from school and my mother dropped me off and waited for me after school until the last day of eighth grade. We had fun talking about what happened that day. She guessed every time there was trouble and with whom it involved. Seventh grade started with names like “Cereal Box Girl”, “Garbage Can Swag”. That brought tears to my eyes but I held back crying. Again day in and day out it got to me. I told my teachers and mother. My mother talked to the Principal and Assistant Principal to get it to stop. They even talked to me to find out who and why they were saying it. I tried to ignore it but it was difficult. Summer break always helped me to de stress and forget it for the time being. It never stopped.
The eighth grade was a grade I thought I would never complete. Not because of my studies but the bullying became beyond what I could handle. A girl in my neighborhood a year younger that me became the biggest bully I have known so far. She was not in any of my classes but we did see each other in the hallways. My friends knew what she was doing and saying and they did not like her. They tried to protect me without fighting or arguing. You cold feel the tension in the hallways and after school. We also walked home the same way. I never knew what to expect. She claimed to be a leader with a posse. I laughed to myself and her groups of friends were also just as bad as she was. At the beginning of the year my mother went into see the principal to let him know the year was starting out with problems. They knew it was not me and expected that behavior from her. My mother notified the principal that she wanted it to stop and if there were and problems she was to be notified immediately. They agreed. And so it began. All of my teachers knew a well. I began with her pushing me in the hallways with my friends defending me. She always tormented me when she was with people. She would call me B*&%$ and her friends would laugh. I kept walking and ignored them. It moved outside of school as we walked home. Her group talking and whispering even as myself and mother would walk by. They knew not to disrespect my mother. We tried to talk about something happy as we walked past them so them knew we were ignoring them and they hated it. It got to the point that I would cry and feel sick in the morning so I did not have to go to school. My parents notified school once again. I was able to keep up with me studies even though I missed school. I felt completely defeated, depressed and hated school. When she was not around her friends took over in harassing me. I kept turning the other cheek. She was told repeatedly to stop but always had a story that made me look like I was the aggressor. One day I ended up in the office-crying ready to burst from taking it. My mother was called and after hearing what happened became angry that after three attempts it continued. My mother notified the office if should happen again she wanted the police called and her parents. They can into the office like it was me that was the problem. The entire school knew it was her but she lied to her parents to get out of trouble. My teachers watched me more closely and did begin to punish her when they caught her. She became more upset. My mother was very involved in working in the classrooms she could feel when something was wrong. They would even give her dirty look and make comments. Until then last day at school I was not able to exhale until the eighth grade was out of school 2 weeks before the rest of the school. I passed with flying colors and now looked forward to graduation. I also had relief knowing that summer was here and I would no longer see or come across these people again. They last day of school when I got home I cried and did not cry again. I will forever remember my teacher Mr. Collins who would play guitar in his classroom. “Continue your dream Bella. Love music, forget the negative and surround yourself with positive. Many of my classmates did not graduate on stage due to grades, but I did. They went on to summer school and only after that could they get their diplomas. Guess what those people that bullied me we the summer school crowd. So when I got to sleep in they were in class at a time when they could have been sleeping in to.
First year of high school I was bullied by girls who did not know I was a model and some of them did not believe it. Once my pictures came out and I began working more they began to ask me how to become a model. My close friends supported me in everyway and still do today. They are all beautiful and love my style and when we get together we have the same fun we always had. I have not changed whom or what I believe in just my looks have changed. Today my friends are the people who are outcast, different, unique and even look different. I am able to connect with them and even if someone tried to bully me I will no longer be intimidated by anyone or any words! So my career began! I am an advocate to STOP BULLYING around the globe.

Sierra Moses I am inspired by old beauty and romance. A good black and white movie can inspire me any day. I remember watching old movies with my dad when I was kid and I remember loving the costumes, how beautiful the characters were, and how all the Men were perfect gentleman. I always wanted a life like that and still to this day the thought of that lifestyle makes me sparkle inside. I reflect that in my clothes because its "the way of Haus"!!!!! I cant really say I have any role models, I just strive to be the best version of myself I can be. In the future I would love to see Haus turn into a "Haus"whole name. Men will convert back to perfect gentleman and women back to perfect ladies.

How long have you been modeling? 10 years Can you tell us what made you decide to get into modeling? And if you weren’t modeling what job or career would you be pursuing? I have always loved fashion, hair and makeup.. modelingeven as a little kid. It has always been a passion for me and there was nothing that I wanted to do more than creating looks and watching them on the runway.. If I couldn’t model anymore, I would continue my career as a makeu p artist and get into more acting. As a model can you tell us about some of your mentors in the business that has really made an impact on your life and career? My cosmotelogy instructor, Arnold LemaitrePhotographer , Billy Montgomery- Photographer,
In the fashion business there are ups and downs of all kinds; there is the right way to get into the business and the wrong way to get into the business; can you
tell our readers interested in getting into the fashion business; as a model what they should look to follow and what they should look to avoid? Go after agencies that are accredited and avoid anyone asking you for money unless it’s someone helping you build your portfolio. Can you tell us as a model what makes you the most comfortable around a photographer if you are dealing with a brand new photographer that you have never worked with before? Doing research about a photographer and looking at his portfolio, photographic and artistic ability helps you get a feel for what kind of photographer it is. And being free to bring someone with you to photo shoots if you are uncomfortable Can you tell us what do you feel is your goal in your modeling career? How far are you trying to go with in the fashion industry as a model? Due to my market I would like to get more into commercial television work, in front or behind the scenes. I have met my goal with being on television, print and advertising both as a model and makeup artist looking to expand more in those areas
Can you explain what has been some of your most memorable good times and memorable bad times in the modeling/fashion industry?
Yes I am also a makeup artist, and cosmetologist and versed in all areas of fashion. I sell Mary Kay Cosmetics and I have also done some acting
Seeing yourself after you complete a project is memorable.. being able to refer to links of your work on television, fashion shows, and in print that you are in or responsible for creating an image allows you to capture someone’s attention for a brief moment. I enjoy all moments that I have as a model. They have allowed me to have experiences that most would only dream of.
As a MUA what is the toughest part of this skill and how do you stay skilled in this?
What is your thoughts on the fashion industry now as an adult compared to when you were a young little girl looking at others such as Tyra Banks and other famous models?
In your advice as a fashion career person, what should someone do to truly break into the business either in the modeling aspect or in the MUA aspect?
I stay skilled by going to training courses, and keeping myself knowledgeable of new products and techniques, the toughest part is keeping up with all the product lines, because there are always new lines, aids, products that come out you can be using an item today,, and it can be obsolete tomorrow.
Do your research and invest in yourself and your career.
I think as a little girl there were emphasis on high fashion, glamour, vintage, and couture verses now. In the fashion industry I know that you are not just a model; can you tell our readers what else you do I the fashion industry? If I am correct you are also a For booking email her at dvine.beauty@ymail.com MUA (Make Up Artist)?

How did you get your start in modeling?
I actually started modeling when I was in early 20's. I didn't really think I'm getting back into this business. How long have you been modeling?
I've been modeling for at least 6 years in early days. Was modeling the thing you have always wanted to do or is there another career choice you had first?
Well, modeling is just a fun thing for me. I'm actually in skin care business and that's what I love to do. It's very rewarding. As a model can you tell us about some of your mentors in the business that has really made an impact on your life and career?
I think Angelina Jolie is the face of a woman of today. I look up to her. It's not just because she's beautiful, strong and successful, but she has a big heart. I always wanted to dedicate myself to less fortunate ones, especially the children. She empowered all women.

Can you tell our readers what they should avoid in the fashion business as they pursue their career in this business? It's a cutthroat out there. Make sure to watch out for yourself and do a lot of research.
What type of education should a person trying to get into the fashion industry as a model acquire and what advise can you give our readers about continuing education in the fashion industry? I don't think that you need to be a genius to be in the fashion industry. If you have the dedication and heart for it that's all it takes. It looks easy but it's actually a hard work. If you wanted to get into the fashion industry, my advice is to get some professional training and also practice is everything.
381 FASHION MODEL OF THE MONTH Model, actress, television host, makeup artist and businessperson Mija, was born on February 27, 1975 on Kinchelo AFB in Kinross, Michigan and currently resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She started her modeling career at the age of 21. In 2006 she began traveling the country as a tradeshow model, accepting freelance work as she traveled. She has appeared in publications such as American Curves, Soak, Taboo, and countless others, numerous print and online catalogs, several calendars, photography books, album covers, featured in several photography and makeup workshops domestic and abroad, on-air radio appearances for local Milwaukee stations, walked in several runway shows, not to mention countless tradeshow appearances throughout the United States. Exploring other opportunities, Mija branched out into acting. One of her early roles was as the female lead in the music video “Sometimes” for the rock band Big Dumb Dick. How did you get your start in modeling? I was working for a talent agency as a promotional spokesperson, when my manager asked for images to post on her website. I created a portfolio On a modeling portfolio hosting sites and soon began shooting with local photographers. Once I started posting images on this site, photographers quickly realized that I have very symmetrical facial features and soon began compiling a more compelling portfolio and obtaining commercial/print work. In modeling what are some of your mentors; and what impact have they had on you? Some of my mentors would definitely be my grandma who always encouraged me and pushed me to follow through with everything I started. Having that encouragement from family helps a lot especially when you are a full time student in the medical field learning physics and organic chemistry. My friends have also had a great impact on me with wonderful words of advice and compliments that kept me moving forward.
Dave Burdick of Burdick Imaging has been my mentor essentially since day one. He's coached me in posing, in what types of images should be included in a portfolio based on the type of work I am seeking, what not to shoot, lighting, angles, you name it. Dave remains a very important person not only in my career but also my life. I'm very blessed to be able to call him a very close friend.
What is some of the most important educational goals have you had in modeling and what type of education should a prospective model pursue? I cannot urge professionalism enough! Conduct yourself in a professional manner whether you are shooting with an art student or collaborating with an award-winning team of photographers, stylists, MUAs, designers, etc. Avoid taking jobs that may pay high, but will not benefit your portfolio.
What are your goals in life after modeling is over for you? And what have you done now to start accomplishing those goals? My goals after modeling would be to work with children either at a hospital or a non for profit organization. Children are a blessing and I continue to volunteer and travel around the world helping different children education programs to benefit them in the future. I would love to devote my time to my children someday because I feel that parenting is a number one aspect in a child's life. Locally, I volunteer at METRO Achievement center for girls as a tutor/mentor for them throughout the school year. Can you tell our readers what they should avoid in the fashion business as they pursue their career in this business? One piece of advice I can give for anyone pursuing any type of career is to not give into something easy. If it's easy, it's not worth it. Go the hard way about getting what you desire whether it would be a publication or a billboard advertisement or getting signed with an agency.

WHAT IS FASHION?
Fashion for some is like a religion and whereas I really love and appreciate the art of it, I consider myself to be more of a guru than a high priestess on the matter. There are so many fun (yes fun) things to consider within the art that is fashion. From flavor-able collections of colors and an array of styles to accessories and my personal favorite, shoes; fashion just has a way of cheering you up or making you happy. It represents the possibility of something. What look are you going for? Is it trendy, classic and timeless, or perhaps conservative? How do you want to feel in what you're wearing? How about sexy, chic, confident, powerful and authoritative, or perhaps sporty and fun? Fashion is a very powerful force in our day to day lives whether we realize it or not. With a few articles of clothing, one can create any of these proposed looks evoking any or all of these feelings. As a fashion stylist I ask these questions because I believe its a great way to help my clients hone in on what they really want in their fashion lives as well as how they wish to define their fashion personality. Frequently I'll ask my clients to tell me what fashion means to them. I want them to tell me all about their likes and dislikes within the fashion trends. Avid lover of fashion or not, I don't always like what's presented as the newest 'must haves' for the season either. Although I am pretty clear on my fashion likes and dislikes, I am also willing to try new things in this colorful world of fashion. I swore I'd never wear a pair of skinny jeans because I was convinced that only tall skinny women could or should wear them, but now you can't pry them off my body because they work with just about everything. As I previously mentioned, fashion is art, and artist create masterpieces in an effort to express themselves. For this reason', one should utilize fashion as their own means of self-expression. Like it or not, appearance is one of (if not) the first way that we self represent. I'm not talking about
vanity, I'm talking about the person you put in front of the world. Are you 'repping' yourself as a diva, a business executive, or maybe you've just decided to roll with the 'I'm a busy mom and don't have time for all that fashion stuff' look'. Whatever your choice, you should wear it with pride, and if you don't feel at least the slightest bit of pride in the way that you've chosen to present yourself to the world, then it's time to rethink your fashion sense and wardrobe choices. If that sounds harsh well I apologize (sort of). The truth is that your inward beauty gets lost in fashion translation if you deprive your outward beauty of having a chance to shine. Think of it as the swanky place that won't let you in without a proper tie or cocktail dress. When your inward and outward beauty are in harmony, the result is a self representation of confidence, and confidence looks sexy on everyone. So you see, YOU are the blank canvass in which art can be created. Paint your own fashion masterpiece and showcase it with pride. Who can't appreciate great art? At the end of the day though, you just have to do what works for you. By that I don't mean what used to work ten years ago, I mean now. I would encourage you to step outside of your fashion box (if in fact you are in one) and try something different, something colorful and flavorful. In the meantime I'd like to hear from all of you about what fashion means to you. I'd like to know what you consider your personal style to be and why? Are you more influenced by what you see in magazines, on the television and videos, or do you have your own eclectic sense of what's hot? I can't wait to hear your answers and see your photos, but until then represent yourself as the masterpiece that you are!
TIPS OF THE BRUSH BY TRACI
matically winged at the outer corners. This is a great time to incorporate metallic eye shadows in deep purples, emerald greens, or coppery browns. Check out Coastal Scents Metal Mania 88 Color Palette (available at costalscents.com). It's an affordable way to get a large array of metallic eye shadows, all great for this look.
I always look to the runway for makeup trends, and this season there were so many to choose from. Dark and moody, bright and fun, natural and ladylike, all made an impact on the catwalk. While some runway looks are just that, meant for the runway, I try to take inspiration from those looks and make them wearable for the everyday woman. Here's a list of my favorite and most wearable fall makeup trends. Velvety Skin: Gone are the days of dewy skin. Matte, velvety skin is in. To look flawless and not dry, make sure you prep you skin before applying your foundation of choice. Exfoliate first and follow that up with the appropriate moisturizer for your skin type. Wait at least 10 minutes for your products to settle in, then use a primer to keep makeup looking fresh all day. Now your skin is ready for your foundation. My favorite? Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet Foundation. It lasts for hours and is full coverage but adjustable to whatever coverage you need. A little goes a long way. You can find this at your local Sephora. Metallics: Metal showed up on the runway in the form of eye shadows, eyeliner and lipstick. This is exciting because some of my favorite makeup brands have amazing metallic collections. For the eyes, smudged and sexy was the look and lips were dark and moody. - For eye shadow, look to Maybelline's 24 HR Color Tattoo Metal Collection. This limited edition collection has 5 fantastic colors and they last all day long. Use on the lid of your eyes and smudge out the edges with a clean blending brush. Find this product at your local Walgreens, CVS or Target. - Metallic eyeliners are a great way to add a little metal to your look. Using it on your lower lash line also brings in another trend, keeping the emphasis on the lower lash line. Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils come in a variety of metallic finishes. My favorites for the season are Stash, Mildew, Mushroom, Hustle, Cuff and Scorch. Apply these to your lower lash line and smudge it out with your ring finger. Find these eyeliners at your local Ulta or Sephora. - I am most looking forward to the release of OCC's lip tar in Black Metal Dahlia because it incorporates several trends seen on the runway all rolled up into one product: metallic finish, deep wine hued and the texture is more of a stain. This will be available in early *Tip: To help achieve a really nice, crisp line at the outer corner of September online at sephora.com. your eye for the winged look, use tape! Take a piece of tape and stick it to the back of your hand first. This helps to remove some of the stickiness so it doesn't pull at the sensitive skin around your Smokey Eyes: While smokey eyes are certainly not a new idea, it's how it is being eyes. Then take the tape and starting at the corner of your eye, deworn that makes it a trend this season. Go for dark and daring, dra- termine what angle you'd like your wing to be and stick the tape
there. Using your favorite eyeshadow brush, apply your choice of color on your lid and extend out along the edge of the tape. Then take a clean blending brush and blend along your crease and the edge of the wing to give it a smokey look. Simply remove the tape and voila! You now have the on trend winged, smokey eye look!
It's Ok to be Naked: Yes I said it, naked! But keep your clothes on because I'm talking makeup, right? Another look that was popular on the runway was very clean, natural, barely there makeup. Here's how to achieve that look: - I recently read somewhere that makeup artists at some of the fashion shows were spending twice the amount of time they would normally spend on the skin to achieve a luminous and flawless finish. A simple way for you to get that glow is by mixing an illuminator into your foundation. My pick is Nyx Cosmetics Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam, available at nyxcosmetics.com or your local Ulta. - Skip the Blush! We're going for naked right? And even though being naked might make some blush, in this case we're skipping it. - As for eyeliner, less is more for this look. A very sharp kohl pencil eye liner could work but liquid eye liner would be best to achieve the thinnest line, right across your top lash line, stopping at the corner of your eye. No extension at all. Black is great, but feel free to use color too. Both Urban Decay and Wet N Wild make fantastic liquid eyeliners, though Urban Decay as a wider assortment of color. - Lips will be naked too so make sure you lips look kissably soft. A great way to do that is to exfoliate your lips at least twice a week. Before I go to bed, I like to mix a bit of honey and granulated white or brown sugar. I rub this against my lips for about a minute and then just lick it off. Yummy! Then I apply my favorite flavor of EOS Lip Balm (did you know that EOS stands for Evolution of Smooth?). I love to use this lip balm before I got to bed because when I wake up in the morning, my lips are super soft, moisturized and ready for a good morning kiss... AFTER I brush my teeth of course! Find EOS Lip Balm at your local Walgreens or CVS. - And if you feel like you want to add a little color to your lips, opt for a berry colored lip stain. My favorite is Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten which is just 1 of the 12 colors in the collection. Choose your favorite at your local Walgreens or CVS. While it's always fun to check out the runways latest looks, keep in mind that trends are just that, a trend and not necessarily the rule. I like to think that in makeup, there are no rules! The most important thing is that you feel good about how you look because nothing says beautiful like confidence! Until next time... love, peace and lipstick!
Fall Brights: Lead makeup artists are making a very big statement in creating looks using colors you may think are only used during the spring and summer seasons. Vibrant neon hues are now on trend for the fall! How about a neon orange smokey eye, neon purple lips or neon green nails? Go for it! Check out Wet N Wild's Pop Art Craze Eye Shadow Trios and Nail Polish, available at your local Walgreens or CVS.

How long have you been actually modeling? I have been modeling since I was 16 years old. I went to a group photo shoot with a friend of mine and I fell in love with it. I only did one or two shoots at first, I didn't get really into it until I was about 18 years old. Once I hit 18 I tried to fill up my life with photo shoots. Modeling gives you the confidence to show the world who you truly are.
What made you get into modeling and who do you feel is your mentor in the modeling industry? At first modeling was a hobby to keep my mind off of my fathers early passing. Now I have fallen so much in love with it that I am aspiring to make it a life long career. I do not really have a mentor. I thought about what I wanted and I went after it, a lesson my father had taught me at an early age.
What do you feel is the hardest part of modeling and how do you overcome this? The hardest part about modeling is all the hate and criticism, it has at times brought me to tears to see and hear what some people can say to a woman who is working so hard to accomplish her dreams. Given the fact that I am a plus size model the hate I get is a lot worse then what "normal" models get, but you have to have thick skin to make it and I have accomplished that.
As a plus size model what is your advice to others trying to break into the modeling industry as a plus size model? My biggest piece of advice is you MUST have thick skin, do not let what others say bother you, and don't show that it bothers you. People will criticize you for anything, the smallest details people will nitpick and poke fun and harass you for. Don't ever show that it hurts you and don't let it hurt you, the more confident you are in your own skin it will shine through your photos. Always remember confidence is sexy.
What do you think plus size modeling has done to impact the fashion industry and make it so successful? Plus size modeling has changed the modeling world as a whole, not just the fashion side of it. We see new and more sexy plus size women popping up over night, and it is showing the world that any woman regardless of her size is beautiful. You do not have to be a size zero to be beautiful and I think the beginning of the plus size modeling is starting to convince more people of that, I have over 31,000 fans on my Facebook fan page and they all like full figured women better then the run of the mill skinny runway or Victoria Secret model. Us plus size models will take over the world, that's a fact.
What are your goals in regards to modeling and what is next for you in modeling? I would like to become an international model, I have been published in a magazine in India, but I would like to be bigger then just one magazine. My goal is to show every person in the world that no matter the shape, size, color or sex of the person, we are all beautiful. This is my third magazine feature and I hope to make a lot more then three within the next year. People will be seeing a lot more of me in the near future.
What advice can you give our readers about modeling? Just be you, don't let anyone or anything change who you are. As long as you are happy, nothing else matters. Wake up everyday happy with what you see in the mirror. Stay true to yourself.

First of all to be a successful model you need to know how to read and write, it's too many models that get the hook ups to get in this industry and don't know how to write a bio or don't know what a bio is; it's a complete shame. You have to know more than that to be successful in the fashion industry; like knowing what fashion is, everything revolves around doing your research. What would you say is a typical day for you as a modeling agency executive? A typical day for me is checking emails for submissions from models, talking to models and it can turn into an emotional day dealing with the attitudes of models. Models are not easy to work with but we both have to satisfy each other. The model has to satisfy me by looking her best to my liking which is absolutely stunning and willing to except my fee and percentage. I have to satisfy the model by coming through with the work both paid and promotional gigs and just having the "easy to work with" attitude, that's what makes a great agency. Beautiful women are a dime a dozen; can you tell us from your experience what is the percentage of people that succeed in the fashion industry as a model and the percentage that don’t make it? Continued from page 18
Can you tell us what makes a great modeling agency; and what makes a bad agency? A great modeling agency is one that has a lot of connections and money which attracts the models, they have to have a replicable name and history which also attracts models and they already have to have beautiful models because beautiful women always attracts more beautiful women. A bad agency has good slick talk which you have to watch out for and little to no models and that agency will get u for your money, photos and self esteem which will lead to a bad experience. Can you tell our reader’s what type of education you need or the type of education is takes to continue to be successful in the fashion industry?
I think it's a little more models that don't make it then actually do make it SUCCESSFULLY in the fashion industry; maybe 60%/40%, its so many beautiful women as stated. Who was or still is your mentor in relationship to your career in the modeling industry and the fashion industry? There was this model I had in my company/agency named Tiffany Friday, she's @SexiSlimT on my website...this model was and still is the most beautiful and talented woman/model I have ever seen. The way she posed and her creativity was unbelievable I had to have her in my agency.

When I began thinking about this article it was easy. What do I like and not like. I wanted to bring “you” the reader into my fantasy fashion world. You will get much more than that. This column will bring you (my opinion) on products, services, places, shopping experiences, great buys, new products-do they really work, and what you can’t live without what we hope to see and not. Your opinion matters and I need to know it. If you do not agree with me or wish to let me know of you hot or not if I chose to write about it you will receive a gift card or gift certificate-quarterly. So let’s fire up these pages with our picks .
I receive approximately 15-20 magazines a month. Having a model in the family we are always looking for what is different, fashion trends, makeup services, hair and more. I sift through them all tear out the pages I feel stand out and the rest is recycled. September’s issues are like phone books due to the upcoming fall fashion shows. New designs and who has what where. My mailman is not a happy person with me. He rings the doorbell daily because nothing fits in the mailbox. I profusely thank him every day. What’s hot for September begins with perfume. I have cho-
sen Narcisco Rodriguez for that light fragrance layer with lotion it does smell sexy. What’s Hot for eyesCat eyes in bold colors eyeliner. Use more than one line if you wish for that dramatic effect. What’s Hot in jewelry-Hearts on Fire a delicate look to glamorize your attire also many bracelets, necklaces, rings, watches, brooches, cell phone case and purse in one and hair accessories. What’s Hot in casual wear- Cardigans both plain and designer can be worn with anything, sweatshirts with an athletic cut are back with sequins or appliqués. Ready to wear or snuggle up. They tend to flatter any figure paired with black dressy pants and heels. Black is back and a very sexy royal blue animal patterned pants, blazers, blouses, silk miniskirts, dresses, purses, watches, scarves, lingerie, metallic miniskirts, shoes, half leather jackets and dresses it is a stunning color. I am not fond of always wearing black but it does look slimming and fabulous. Tuxedo jackets are HOT! They look expensive and timeless. On a white jacket black details look fancy and you can find them at reasonable prices. Paired with patterned pants nerdy glasses and high tops may for a fun nightlife. What’s Hot in coats-Faux fur in multi-colors and patterns (see below) including vests and collars. Fringe and feathers have been added to coats with longer hemlines. Leather is always an alternative with or without hoods and fur collars long or short always looking good with a scarf. Wear with camo pants for an outdoor look. Varsity jackets are back with black slacks and heels a dash of lipstick and you have your casual look. I had one in high school and we would wear it the entire school year even in winter and it did keep us warm and we were standouts. What’s Hot in boots- Knee high, ankle, and biker. Suede, patterned, leather, with buckles, clasps, chunky heel and pointy. With any type of outfit will always make the style work. What’s Hot are Graphic tees. Symbols, words, bands faces it is always interesting to see what people are thinking and feeling. I see more people wearing them now even myself than in years past. It is a way of expressing yourself without saying a word. What’s Hot is plaid- shoes, shirts, jackets, pants, purses, pleated miniskirts and sweaters. I love plaid because it comes in so many different patterns and shapes I can chose the one right for me. Pair it with suspenders, chunky boots and lipstick for an edgy fun look. On the other hand you do not have to necessarily make it match for a fun twist. What’s Hot are cut out dresses- this sexy look shows some skin and has an elegant twist to it. It is definitely a nighttime dress unless you pair it with a blazer long enough to cover the cut outs for work. They come in many materials and with sequins or silver lame with those sexy curves it is a hot look. What’s Hot with hair are braids, ponytails and a loose up do for a clean polished hairstyle. It seems that hairstyles are more retro capturing the throwback Hollywood days. With so many different hair types do what’s best for you type hair. Always have a good hair regime to keep it healthy. Get regular cuts and good hair care products like Moroccan Oil for healthier looking hair. It adds shine and strength to your hair. I have used it and love it. Wear hair accessories like headbands crystal pins or combs scarves and watch the compliments begin. Now some What Not’s. Pointed finger nails are turning back into square and round styles. What’s not are plain color mani and pedi’s. Bold and bright colors and designs are making nails fun. Appliqués like bows sequins and pictures are putting nail art at the forefront. White shorts for going out at night are boring and it seems a popular choice. I am not fond of white and with summer ending a skirt or slack seems a better choice. You can always show some leg with many different looks. Flowery mini dresses were good for spring but heading into fall a nice maxi will do. Pick a bright color to draw attention to yourself and they always make you look dressed for the occasion. Scandals and Flip Flops are making their way out while pretty they need to match what your outfit looks like. I was never a fan of flip-flops they slip off easily and make your feet dirty. Gladiator sandals are bulky and if there is a wrap around the ankle it tends to make your leg look shorter and chunkier. Wear a heel it makes you legs look long and sexy or for casual outings wear a pretty sneaker. Super Skimpy Bikinis-While some people are able to wear a skimpy bikini I prefer a thigh high cut one piece. There are some great patterns and styles out there. Here are some general comments: Have a beauty regime-cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, correct color foundation, vibrant eye shadow, mascara, blemish concealer, eyelashes, blush and a variety of lipstick colors. Keep to your cleansing regime and your face will radiate beauty. Keep you most used items in your purse and never leave home without them. You never know whom you might
run into. Tight fitting or ill-fitting clothing looks bad in any circumstance even if you are running an errand. From undergarments to your outfit if they fit your it! To tight makes you look messy and rushed. There is nothing worse than thinking you wear a size two when you wear an eight. I tend to buy my clothing a bit bigger in case it runs small and it may be a bit snug. I do not like skintight clothing in any outfit and a classic clean sophisticated look is what I strive for. My next time out I will include a picture of my outfit look. Embrace new ideas; take your time with every aspect of your look. Get the opinion of a friend and accept criticism gracefully. Think out of the box find out what flatters you and what you are trying to strive for. Work with different items from head to toe find what looks best on you even if you have never tried it before. You might be surprised it may work. With the job market opening up now is the time to shop and save a bit. Thrifting, rummage sales and garage sales can bring you great finds and super low prices and no one has to know. This summer I hit one rummage sale and bought the most fabulous items. When I receive a compliment I accept it and never let on of my secret-no shame here no one has to know. I can spot a designer pair of jeans, dress or tops in a heartbeat. My heart starts to pound as I hope it is in my size. Once I pull it all together I am happy that I saved money and got a great item. Until next month STAY BEAUTIFUL!
