WELCOME TO Well, what a year we’ve all had! The last time we were able to see you all in person was 2020, just before the world (almost) ended. So, it’s magical to have our doors open once again at ETC Bishopsgate. It hasn’t been all bad though. We’ve learned over the past two years how to start running virtual events, so today we’ve been able to merge our two worlds and run our first ever hybrid event. So, a huge hello to all our virtual participants as well as those here in person today!

We’d like to thank all the exhibitors, sponsors and attendees who have supported us over the past two years, whilst we’ve navigated the wonderful new world of Covid and tried our best to survive and thrive to the other side. Without all your support, we wouldn’t be here today. Thanks for sticking with us! Actors – today you can participate in some incredible seminars and 1-2-1 career mentoring, or perform for a panel of casting directors and agents as part of the ‘Meals 4 Monologues’ initiative. Just as we had before, however this year everything has been pre-booked. No more waiting in line! Don’t forget to visit the exhibition room, both virtually and here in London. Exhibitors from all over the world are participating, and a quick hello could turn into a whole new relationship. So get chatting! Network, share, and engage with everyone you meet today both online and in-person. You never know who is around the corner! And most importantly, have fun.

"Everybody needs a passion. That’s what keeps life interesting. If you live without passion, you can go through life without leaving any footprints.” ― Betty White

Kez Anderson: meet peers, make connections and learn about the business! In a few words tell us who you are. I’m a pansexual black British female based in London. I tend to play the irritable regal warrior woman who will cut off the head of the bad guy, steal the heart of the heroine and lead you to victory on horseback. My credits include Star Wars, a Marvel movie, and Foundation, where I play alien creatures, a warrior in Wonder Woman and Dungeons & Dragons, and a statuesque Alpha in Brave New World.

I love acting, because it’s a skill and career that allows for endless growth and learning; for me this aspect is exhilarating. Initially, I studied Film Theatre & TV Ba Hons at Reading University, and then worked in production, which gave me a great insight into the industry as a whole. I have since trained with Identity London and attend many acting workshops with Spotlight, The Actors Guild, The Chubbuck Technique and Anthony Meindl Acting Workshops (AMAW) London.

You can currently see me as Spacer 1 in Foundation on AppleTV+. We shot this in studios in Limerick, Ireland, and this was the most thrilling experience. Due to Covid restrictions, cast and crew stayed together in a hotel, so we really got to know and bond with each other, forming lasting relationships. On this production I played a CGI creature and learnt how to move on a wire to create a sense of gracefully moving through zero gravity. Again, a new skill and fantastic experience. You feel like a kid again in some aspects of this career, going to class, absorbing new information and skills. I find allowing free-flowing creative play always feels fantastically energising.

Tell us about your most recent prosthetic in a Marvel movie. Had you ever done this type of work before?

What was your experience when you attended Actors Pro Expo?

I have been very fortunate in my career so far, as every job has enabled me to learn a new skill, which in turn opens more doors. My first creature experience was in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX), where the transformation involved wearing easily-removable creature legs, arms and animatronic head. This led me to work in full prosthetics in a Marvel movie. Being picked up at 2am, then sitting in hair and make up for 4.5 hours requires patience. To be honest I didn’t truly know I could do that and then go on set and give my best performances for 10/12 hours a day.I discovered that, after a while in the makeup chair, I would go into a kind of meditation, and my character would grow with each brush stroke. Now I know I can do it and that I love the experience. The makeup team especially were outstanding, headed by makeup designer David White and makeup supervisor Nik Buck, the dream team! I have to say that they and the Marvel production team made this movie feel like a family get-together! A total joy.

I love Actors Pro Expo. It’s a great place to meet peers, make connections, perform in Meals for Monologues, or get valuable 1-2-1 sessions. Acting can be lonely at times, as you are alone prepping scripts and learning lines. You can get blinkered, so it’s refreshing to go to seminars and hear from other actors, producers, directors, agents and casting directors about their personal experiences from each section of the industry. The seminars are incredible. I learnt so much about the business of acting, branding, how to approach agents and casting directors, how to edit my showreel, and also helpful audition and self-tape techniques. I am a shopper, so being able to browse the exhibition stands, buy books, and connect with inspiring people is of paramount importance to me.

Did you do any formal training for your role as an actor and model?

Did attending Actors Pro Expo lead to any opportunities or worthwhile connections? I’ve made some exceptional connections at Actors Pro Expo, speaking to people like phenomenal actors coach Valorie Hubbard, who I am very excited about working closely with this year. I consider myself to be early in my career and I have very clear goals. Working with Valorie will help me map out a decisively effective plan of action to achieve those goals and have more control over my career progression. Charlotte Thornton is another insightful life and wellness coach for actors, who I have worked with in the past and totally recommend. Also, meeting the team from WeAudition was very memorable. Actors Pro Expo is a very social event. After all, we work in an industry based on creative collaboration, so connecting with people and cultivating a network are very important aspects of maintaining career growth and longevity. What one piece of advice would you give to any actor attending the event for the first time? OK I have a few things: Relax………… Allow yourself to enjoy the event by attending with an open mind and heart, gather as much information as you can, take notes, go home and review it all in your own time. Interview with Bond Actress

Brigitte Millar

Brigitte Millar

Brigitte Appeared in SPECTRE and NO TIME TO DIE

In a few words tell us who you are.

Did attending Actors Pro Expo lead to any opportunities or worthwhile connections?

My name is Brigitte Millar. I am a multiple award-winning London-based European/English actress with recurring credits in 007 James Bond SPECTRE and NO TIME TO DIE, and HARRY POTTER.

Yes, I got the opportunity to meet a casting director I hadn't met before.

Did you do any formal training for your role as an actor?

What one piece of advice would you give to any actor attending the event for the first time?

Yes, absolutely. First, I did a foundation course and then went to drama college in London. In 2011 you won an award for best supporting actress in ‘David is Dying’. Tell us a bit about this production and what was behind such a performance to win this award. This was an independent feature film, and I played the role of Amelia Holland, the psychotherapist. I enjoyed it very much, and the director and I did quite a bit of improv around the character. Nobody could have predicted that the film would cause such a stir and garner several awards in the U.S. and in Europe. It was such an honour to be awarded Best Supporting Actress.

Book the workshops and seminars that are specific to you and chat to as many people as possible. What is next for you in your career? I am attached to a couple of projects and waiting for them to get the green light. Hopefully, by next year things will have calmed down and the industry will pick up again.

You’ve just featured as Vogel in your second Bond movie. What’s been the highlight of being part of the James Bond franchise? I think playing a villainess in a Bond movie is already a great highlight, but to be asked back for a second time is even more exciting. The highlight has to be the boardroom scene playing the scientist Dr Vogel. What was your experience when you attended Actors Pro Expo? Actors Pro Expo is great, because you get an opportunity to get your questions answered and network with industry professionals. It makes you feel connected and part of a larger community. green light. Hopefully, by next year things will have calmed down and the industry will pick up again.
