MODEL MAKING by Christos PampaďŹ kos

Examples of models that I have done through my studying years in architecture. The modeling process is something that I love and always do with passion in order to get not only the best result for my projects but also for personal interest and investigation

MUSEUM WAREHOUSE

in Kerameikos

For this project the skyline of the site played a very important role and this is why it was desired the roof tops of the surounding buildings to be toned with grey in contrast to the black painted area. As for the archaeological site of Kerameikos. the carton that was used was left in its original brown colour

In connection to the previous model for the next scale was desired the same material to be used, but with different technic. Furthermore, once the vegetation now should have been visible once it was considered for the architectural proposal, natural sponge was prefered. The transparent ramps and shading was depicted with the help of metal net

THEATRICAL SCHOOL in Tavros

For this project the axes and the volumes of the area leaded to the architectural proposal. The plexiglass surfaces emphasize on the volume of the shape while the axes can clearly distinguish incised on the reected plexiglass surface. To maximize that contrast, a black painted plywood is supporting the elevated surface with the help of screws

Once the main shape of the building was given in the previous scale, in this phase the openings and the main structure has to be searched

The compartmentalization demanded the upgrade of the scale once the complex structural vocabulary was a really crusial factor. Of course that scale except from better view and manipulation needed more detailed architectural materials as opening frames. For this purpose, thin metal beams were carefully placed to form the facade and the inside room separations

The speciďŹ c concrete model is trying to picturesque the textures in reality and not in a more abstruct way as the previous ones. It had been worked parallel with the drawings in the phase of detailing and this is why it was studied a lot in order for all the extra details to be carefully places. The air ventilation tubes, the different oors, the panel structures and the, the railing and the ceiling are some of them

For better understanding of the structure and the architectural materials that was used, a much larger scale was constructed according to a lot more speciďŹ c dimensions as it was closer to reality

STREET THEATRE in Kerameikos 03

This is a small scale project this is why the scale is big and materials that were used for this realistic. The main structure wooden and this is why real wood tried to show the texture, well as thin paper in brown color depictes the metal connectio

KINDERGARTEN in Peristeri

The industrial character of the area was wished to be depicted by empasizing on the openings of the facades. For this reason carton was decided to be the most suitable and that was the one that also formed the main volumes of the architectural proposal. Its light metal structure on the other hand, is made by thin wooden beams painted white. For the elevated second oor, carton in similar color hue was put to pinpoint the wood

NOSTALGIC FUTURE in Downpatrick Head

This project as it had to deal with many theoretical factors tried to maintain as simple and minimal as possible. For this reason the site-rock that was decided to host the building was created with the help of plaster casted into multiple layers of foam, carefully cut in order to imitate the rock's sharp edges

STUDY ON A CLIFF For the previous project many models and studies were made and are the following. It was part of investigation and study of contrasts, connections, and many other theoretical approaches. For that reason, , a variety of materials were used in different ways every time
