ACTS 12:24
I
believe that God has called Christ Presbyterian Church to step into a future where we can flourish together. Flourish in how we live out the values of our church; thriving in how we are experiencing God’s grace; growing as we faithfully share the abundant life Jesus calls us to. The body of Christ flourishes when we are living in community, deepening our faith, and sharing the hope of Jesus with others.
As you look through these pages to get a glimpse of how God is working in our community, we hope you both celebrate with us and consider how you can be a part. Where is God calling you to act, to serve, to invest? Don’t just stand on the sidelines—join us as we seek to boldly extend the invitation Jesus makes to us, to everyone!

A glimpse of what God is doing through our ministry partners in China: We have 30,000 university students within a 15-minute walk of where we live. Students come from all over China to attend school, some from the most closed areas of China, where you cannot preach and share the Gospel. But university students are hungry to participate in our cultural exchange groups. We find ways to talk about values—integrity, friendship, faithfulness— anything that allows us to gently bring forth Gospel messages. Recently a young woman was sharing her fears for the future, and we were able to share from the Book of John. She said, “I feel like I need to respond. I want to ask Jesus into my heart, my life, because He’s someone who wants to bring peace.’’ These students see something different in us, something they desire, and it is through the Holy Spirit speaking to them through the Word of God that they are making decisions to follow Jesus. - the H. family (names not used for safety) M I N I S T R Y O V E R V I E W 2 0 1 7/ 2 0 1 8

On the day known as Pentecost, the Holy Spirit set in motion the birth of the Church. What starts as a small band of faithful followers explodes throughout the ancient world as the young church passionately invites all people into God’s family and to know Jesus’ saving grace. The same Spirit that worked to expand God’s Kingdom in those days is just as accessible and potent for us today. Let’s walk the journey of Acts, with boldness and without fear, and pray that God will use our little corner of the Church to make His redemption tangible.

Looking to get connected?
At the end of every summer, we face the reality that the calm is receding and the rush is beginning. Life seems to accelerate and schedules overflow. So how does our identity in Christ enable us to face the changing season in a unique way? We’ll spend five weeks looking at biblical patterns of behavior that move us past good intentions and ground us in daily spirituality that offers hope, peace, and rest. Come be reminded that as a follower of Jesus, abundant life is not found in the chaos of busyness, but in something much deeper.
