“Outliers in Quality” OUR 2016 PRODUCTION SALE & GENETIC OPPORTUNITIES Selling 14 Spring Red Angus Heifer Calves & Three Powerful Red Angus Herd Bull Prospects

Video Catalog www.auctions.ccollinsinc.com/lasrojas

This catalog is in memory of our friend, Mr. Lloyd Doublehead.

Welcome to Las Rojas Winds of time blow change and things have certainly changed around here since last year. With the passing of our dear friend, Lloyd, who helped hold all this together, I felt it was necessary to move the sale a little later in the year. We really fight the heat here until October and this year we still have not froze as of November 10th. I have enjoyed visiting with our early visitors and hope you can stop in prior to our December 5th sale to view the cattle. The heifers selling represent the youngest at Las Rojas, and the heifers I selected out of Canada, from U2 and Cactus Coulee as well as the best of the Safari Cattle Company embryo program and the daughters of the great 2X cow at Duff Cattle Company and the Power Plus program. I think there are some unique cattle in this set and they have as much value on pedigree as they will in any other capacity. They are functional, easy keeping and are the kind of cattle that brought us to this breed in the beginning. New this year, are three powerful bull prospects that are the best from our embryo program. I only kept the very best bulls. I think the bulls selling, represent what we are trying to do with these matings. They are the result of many miles of travel and studying foreign pedigrees. I think they are the cow changing type. They are all very good footed, sound and have a large scrotal circumference. Sale day weights will be available and they will sell semen guaranteed. They will be able to cover several cows this spring. I am excited to introduce, what we think is the best bull calf raised in this program and one of the best I’ve seen since my entering this breed. Rojas RIOJA 6052, is a son of PZC TMAS Firestorm out of Six Mile Lakota 112Y. RIOJA had a 72 lb birth weight and I think he will offer a great deal of maternal ability, not only to the breed, but to the composite world as well. He is exceptional in his soundness and quite simply, he is hard to fault. In time, he should prove low birth with his moderate birth weight. RIOJA is owned in partnership with Duff Cattle Company. Pronounced REE-OH-HAH! Watch for more information this winter. I want to thank the people that have continued to support the endeavors here. We have searched high and low for what I think are the best cattle, mostly in Canada. I am proud that we have continued to keep these cattle functional, moderate and easy keeping and I hope the breed trends in the same direction from which it came. This year we will sell the offering live with Superior on DISH Network’s Rural TV, channel 232 at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 5th. We welcome you to visit the offering anytime prior to sale day and especially welcome you to the farm, the weekend prior. We will have refreshments on hand. Then, we will be in Fort Worth in the Superior auction room for the sale on Monday at 1:00 pm. You can register with us or Superior and bid through their 800 number, 1-800-431-4452. Thank you again and please do not hesitate to call or stop in at anytime.

long thought, I have regretfully decided to part with 100% of Bar-E-L Kassie, one of LOT 1 After the handful of cows that I have imported out of Canada. The decision was made, due to her great flushing ability and the eggs she has given us. This cow was a standout to me at Bar E L in Alberta. She is the dam of Blair’s popular, 2016 National Western Grand Champion Female. She comes from a great cow family that has generated many Canadian high sellers and a Canadian National Champion Female. Longshore’s Bar-E-L program is known for some of the best Angus cattle north of the border. 117X is a long fronted, powerful hipped cow, that is huge bodied and impeccable in her structure and design. She is one of the prettiest and most balanced uddered cows that I have seen. She has a big, stout and correct hoof. Kassie has the power to be a herd bull generator and major show heifer prospect producer. Since purchasing Kassie from Bar-E-L in the spring of 2015, we have flushed her only twice to average 12 eggs per flush. This was the first time Kassie was ever flushed. She will be flushed one more time prior to sale time. The only embryos to sell out of our tank will be the three lots in this sale. Absolutely no other eggs will be sold. We will transfer all of the other embryos this spring at Las Rojas. So, the new owner of Kassie will have full marketing control of this exciting, highly marketable cow. Retaining eight embryos, or one flush on Kassie at the new owners convenience to Rojas RIOJA 6052.

LOT 2 A full sister sells as Lot 12 and a maternal sister sells as Lot 11. - Two daughters of the exciting 2X, at Duff Cattle Co, sell in this offering. 2X is a cornerstone in the Power Plus Red Angus program. 2X was certainly one of the best red cows I have ever seen and one of the best pedigreed Red Angus females to ever come out of Canada. 2X has an impeccable pedigree. This heifer calf is extra exciting, and one of the best we have sold. She is super long necked, balanced and has the look of her great dam. It was really hard for Kirk to part with this one. She will have a great show career prior to being a valuable donor dam. She was still a little green at picture time, but this one should really come on by January. Entered in Denver. Selling Full Possession and One Half Embryo Interest with negotiation for full interest.

The Firestorm x 112Y mating of 2016 will go down in history in this outfit. Her full brother is Rojas RIOJA, to be headlined this spring. You know the success of 112Y and her dam, 16W. I would love to keep this heifer calf for a donor. She is one of the biggest bodied, soundest and best made in this offering. She isn’t the tightest through her throat, but she has no chest and she is extra easy doing. With the right care, this heifer should be a tough competitor. She is really up-headed and has lots of style. Her full sisters are now residing in the Thomas, Rust Mountain View, Duff and Fischer programs. Few 112Y’s will be born next year and unfortunately, none will be Firestorms. It will be 2018 before we hopefully have some more of this mating on the ground. These are potent genetics.

These daughters of U2 Mission are out of our 2014 high selling cow, that we selected from U2 Ranch in Alberta. 29U was purchased by John and Angie Graves and is currently in their ET program. 29U is a stout, powerful Red Angus donor dam and is sired by U2 Big League 544R, the grand-sire of matriarch donor Six Mile Lakota 16W. We think these heifer calves are special and they have really come on in the last month. This may be the tightest necked heifer I’ve ever had and one of the biggest bodied! We aren’t real sure which sister is the best. All of these flush mates are donor caliber and would be a great addition to any herd. Any of the four would show with the body and front ends like they have.

This heifer calf has been really impressive since she arrived. Many tried to buy her early on, but being just an April calf, I had made the decision to save her for this sale. She is one of the most powerful ribbed heifers that I have ever sold and she is super thick. Combine that with her front end and you’ve got a great show heifer prospect. She is still maturing and I expect this one will look really good by Denver time. All of these sisters are super sound, with a little set to their hind leg and they are stout footed. This heifer has a pitch black hoof. We’ve had a really warm fall and all of these should be extra hairy this winter. If I could change this heifer, I would level her out in her hip just a hair, but on the halter, this one has the right parts for the showring. She will raise a great one too. We love the balance she has from the side. She will be extra tough in any April class.

LOT 6 (608) & LOT 7 (610) The sisters keep a coming! Here are two more Missions out of 29U. Don’t discount Lot 7 for not being pictured. We ran out of daylight and patience. Her video is just as impressive as the rest. We think Lot 6 (608), could be extra special. No one really noticed her at first and she has really turned it on the last 30 days. She is extra hairy, choke necked and super, super sound. Talk about body and swing to her lower rib. Here’s one that will probably look cheap come next summer at Jr. Nationals. All of the heifers in this sale will be eligible for the Jr National Futurity. Make sure to look at the videos on these two. They will all make powerful cow prospects. Their mother, will always be one of my favorite cows,s to be imported out of the U2 program.

LOT 8 CANADIAN IMPORT - Benelli is a Lazy MC bull that I flushed to this fall after seeing some good heifer calves at Dennis Bjellands in Alberta. Benelli, out of the famous Firefly cow, owned by Lazy MC and Dobson Ranch, is one of the top noted Red Angus females in the country. Benelli sold for $36,000 in the Lazy MC 2015 bull sale. The dam of this heifer calf, is a big, stout daughter of Panther. Panther is a Kodiak grandson (black) and out of the famous Stewart 306N cow from Sebastian Stewart. I purchased a daughter of 306N several years ago in Canada. This heifer calf is unique and she has lots of presence. I could see her a mile away, across the pasture this fall in Canada. She had a rough start in life and was sick. Consequently she is a little smaller right now, but I think in time this heifer could really be something special and I hate to let her go. This one has probably the best hair of any in the sale and she is dark red. Her video is extra good, look it up. We call her “Ellie Benelli. Extra gentle too!

CANADIAN IMPORT - U2 Ranch has been a big part of my program. The power of U2 genetics are second to none. The donors that I have purchased at U2, for myself and our customers, make up a big part of our embryo program. After spending a long time looking, this was my pick of the heifer calves there this fall. You won’t find a stouter, sounder heifer that has all the right parts. She has a big powerful hip and tons of rib and check out her bone and foot. LOT 10

VIDEO CATALOG: auctions.ccollinsinc.com/lasrojas

CANADIAN IMPORT - This heifer calf was another that I hand selected out of Canada this fall, at the Cactus Coulee operation. She is sired by Lazy MC’s Gunner, that was recently Grand Champion Red Angus Bull at the Texas State Fair and sold for $50,000 at Lazy MC. The dam of Lot 10 is a black / red carrier, two year old, that will knock your socks off. She goes back to Norseman King on the bottom side. This heifer didn’t have any feed until she got to the states in September. She continues to come on everyday. She is hard to fault and is really pretty fronted, sound and offers a great deal from a pedigree standpoint. We really like her profile, she’s extra balanced and easy to look at. We, along with Cactus Coulee would like to retain one half embryo interest or two flushes in this heifer at the new owners convenience. With a mother like this one has, this heifer will make a valuable brood cow after a successful show career.

Lot 11 and 12 are daughters of Stewart Lady 2X. These top heifers from Duff Cattle Co. present a great deal of pedigree and quality. A full and maternal sister to these two heifers sells as Lot 2. 2X originated in the Sebastian Stewart herd and is no doubt one of the best looking Red Angus cows in the breed. She is now a cornerstone and foundation for the Red Angus program at Duff Cattle Co. If you ever see 2X, she isn’t easy to forget! The chance to own a daughter of 2X is a rare opportunity. These are the top heifer calves from the 2016 ET Power Plus program. Lot 12 is a donor prospect in the making. This young heifer has tons of rib, quality and is really coming on. She is sound, correct and will make a very impressive mature female.

Ask Rusty McCarthy’s at Omega 8 Ranch, that owns a 2X daughter who recently raised a class winner in last years Texas majors. It’s hard to find a hip and profile like this heifer has. Make plans to attend the Power Plus Bull and Commercial Female sale in Hobart, OK this spring. The reputation set of Angus bulls will include a good set of Red’s this year!

This is her best son to date. This is a herd bull and calf that has lots of marketability. Imagine the picture, this one will take this spring. His video is impressive. He is extra sound footed and has a large scrotal circ. This bull has a little extra frame, and should fit right in to any program, that is marketing bulls or seedstock. Another brother sold last year for $16,000 to Hales in Texas. We think a lot of this calf and his pedigree. He is really up-headed, sound and smooth made. This bull would show and has had a lot of accolades from early visitors this fall. He will be extra hairy this winter and is good colored.

Six Mile Lakota 16W is the dam of 112Y, and two more heifers that were Denver Calf Champions before she was four years old. We lost her last year due to stifle but also welcomed her first clone in January of 2016. Three pregnancies of 16W are coming this spring and no embryos are in the tank. You can see why this calf is special. 6055 is a powerful hipped, long necked bull that is not “A typical Angus”. He should work to add style, quality and muscle to a plainer set of cows. This one will produce show heifers and good replacements. Just a March calf, this bull is coming on fast and will cover several cows this spring. He lost his switch this summer, but it is growing back. Sound footed, large scrotal circumference and ideal frame size.

After purchasing an interest in a special cow at U2, that was Moonbeam 194W, I went back and mated another special heifer calf that I purchased at U2, to the sire of 194W, which was an old bull named, Wild Card 896S. This bull is the result of that mating and these embryos were shipped across the border in 2014. The dam of this bull was one of the most exciting heifer calves that I have ever seen in this breed. She was extra dark, cherry red and super, super hairy. Another maternal brother to Pamplona will be a U2 feature this spring in Canada. I am pleased of the success, in these genetics. This bull is the result of many miles traveled to Canada, lots of searching and time spent on the road. Full semen interest is negotiable on all bulls selling. Make sure to see this one’s video, he is good looking!

In the summer of 2014, I selected a small group of cows from U2 Ranch to offer in our production sale. Those cows have done a great job for our customers. Safari Cattle Co entered 29U in IVF at Trans Ova and her first progeny, sired by U2 Mission highlight the heifer calf offering in this sale. • This cow is one of the stoutest bodied and best fronted cows that I have seen in this breed. Her heifer calves are powerfully stout through their rib cage and have tons of muscle and shape. They have lots of presence and are great fronted. You will hear about her daughters again someday, that sell as Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6. We aren’t real sure which one of those heifers is the best! They are all great heifer calves that will be highly valuable property in time. • Semen on Mission 61W has sold for over $180 per unit and is hard to come by.

SOOLINE COUNTESS 125S

LOT 19 Selling Three ET Embryos out SOOLINE COUNTESS 125S by: N BAR HAMLEY (PIE Billings x N Bar Kelly)

Additional Lots May Be Added Prior to Sale Time Please visit www.ccollinsinc.com for added lots and supplement.

• The embryos selling are full sibs to the 2012 National Champion Female, Six Mile COUNTESS 105Y, that was also the mother of the successful SFRI Count Me In that was Champion at the 2016 Fort Worth Jr. Show and Calf Champion in Denver 2015 for the Neal Ray Davis Family and Duello Cattle Company. Count Me In sold in the 2014 Las Rojas production sale and was second high seller at $40,000. • Countess 105Y is now deceased, from an IVF procedure, and continues to rack up high sellers from her resulting embryos, including a top selling maternal bull at Kris Black’s 2015 Cream of the Crop Bull Sale, sired by Firestorm, that sold for $16,000 to Hale Farms in Texas. • 125S is owned in partnership with Six Mile Red Angus and they have agreed to let go of three Hamley embryos, that are full sisters to 105Y. 125S is nearing the end of her productive life and will likely not be flushed next year. She was one of the first donors that I purchased and she has paved a solid path for Las Rojas in this business. I have been more than pleased on the success of these genetics. • Special thanks to Clayton and Corinne and their crew for making these embryos available.

Sooline Rainbow 9763 This picture is likely one of my favorites of all time. This day marked the beginning of a great adventure and about this time, a big movement in the Red Angus breed began to take shape. All of the people in this photo were and are still very instrumental in many things, within this breed and throughout the rest of the livestock business. One of my fondest memories, ever, happened on this day, in the champion drive. When Sooline Rainbow was selected champion, I remember looking down past the line-up over where the second place heifers stood. Lloyd Doublehead had a hold of our other heifer and I will never forget his excitement, jumping up in the air, he was clearly over joyed. That’s what I

remember most, of all our Denver trips. All of the fitters were gone, when they picked champion, the people in this picture were the only ones left and Roger Hardy and Justin Morrison ran to the hill from the pens in yards, after she won. With our first delve into the breed in 2010, we realized just how good these cattle could be and what they could bring to the table in many breeding programs. Red Angus cattle have led me on many adventures and I have made many good friends. Thanks again for your interest and time. We appreciate all of your support and best wishes with your own endeavors. I am proud to be a part of this great breed of cattle. See you in Denver!
