Check the Wi-Fi signal: This is the foremost thing to check. If the Wi-Fi signal is poor or weak, then move the router nearer to the device.

•

Check power supply: Many users find that it is best to provide the power to the Chromecast through USB port of TV but practically this is not the possible or ideal way to give the power. You must use the power adapter to connect the Chromecast to the power supply. If you connect the device to the USB port, then there are chances that the port to which you have connected the device is not providing enough power due to a grounding problem. So, you must connect the Chromecast to the power directly through the power outlet.

Restart router and computer: It is best to reboot your network devices and your personal computer. You can reboot the device by disconnecting it from power and wait for 5 minutes. You should restart your computer as well.

Change Wi-Fi channel: The digital media device works on 2.4 GHz frequency only. If you have set 5 GHz band on your router, then this will create an issue in making a connection. Follow online instructions to change the channel of your wireless signal.

Open ‘Settings’ page and click on the router on the browser.

Click on ‘Wireless catalog’. You will find this option under settings.

Use HDMI extender: This is a short cable about an inch long that comes with the packing. You can purchase it separately even from the market. You can use it to plug the Chromecast to the TV from some distance. The main purpose of this cable is to give some space to the Chromecast for detecting the wireless signal.

Check the Chromecast connected to which network: In order to stream content from a computer, your Chromecast and computer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Your network will act as an interfacing system for both the devices. You can check the network name to whom it is connected from the Home screen.

Check if firewall/antivirus is restricting the connections or not: More often, the firewall settings or Antivirus installed in your computer keep on blocking the streaming devices from connecting to the network due to a security issue. If this is your concern, then disable the firewall or check the settings from the computer. You can disable your antivirus for some minutes from the system tray. You will find the antivirus icon in the right bottom of the computer screen. Click to open it. If you don’t find any such option for disabling the Antivirus, then you can take help from online support link.
