A SPACE ON DISPLAY
With the on-campus townhouse complex as the given context, a sequence of four programmatic spaces were designed in the empty space between two of the existing homes. My redesign aimed to create folded spaces that simultaneously enclosed private zones of habitation and created public zones that both engaged with the surrounding campus culture and put the inhabitants’ work up on a highly visible pedestal.
LIGHT AND THE VOID
Early studies of the townhouse redesign heavily considered the potential effect of natural sunlight on the visibility (and potential spotlight effect) on interior spaces meant to be seen from the exterior.

GENERATIVE GEOMETRY This series of analytical drawings on OMA’s Distributed House revolved around the deconstruction of the outwardly simple structure and subsequent reconstruction into new forms and patterns.

THE DERIVATION OF MOTION The hybridization of two design approaches (replication and the application of gravity forces) led to a design process focused on motion, its implications, and how to resolve different emergent trajectories and paths.
THE POWER OF PRESENTATION Given the level of care, attention, and time dedicated to each project, I’ve maintained that matching that amount of effort in the presentation of the work is incredibly important. The organization of the pinup is critical to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the project on display.
