The Shell
This comprehensive studio project called for the design for an Arts Academy to be located in “the middle of nowhere�. The site we chose was the Sahara desert in Algeria. This remote location called for a building that would shield the occupants from the harsh sun and wind conditions by creating a shaded oasis that conformed organically to the rocky site. Sustainability was an important element of the design that influenced the shape size and materials chosen for the building. This was a group project with Shomari Lambert and John Myers. Field Conditioned
The capabilities of a flexible matrix are tested against the rigid program, rules and requirements for a functional library. While maintaining the essence of the matrix with its own rules and specifications, this project tests its capacity to adapt to the library’s conditions. When these two contrasting elements merge, the result is a brand new way to view habitable and functional buildings, where wall, floor, roof, enclosure and structure are re-defined. The location for this project is Atlanta, Georgia south of Georgia Tech on the corner of Marietta St. NW and Ponders Ave NW.

The Green Mile
The stark contrast between the characteristics and circulation of the University of Toledo and the community south of campus has transformed Dorr street into a barrier dividing the two communities. To better integrate the University and the community Dorr street has been transformed into a green belt with axial connections that penetrate both opposing sides creating a common linear area between the two. This â&#x20AC;&#x153;green beltâ&#x20AC;? will be home to several services that both the university and residential communities can share. The research and diagrams for the project was done with two other group members.

Lasting Impressions
Video advertising is an aspect of Pop Culture that represents the genre as a whole through its purpose, production and effects. To generate interest, commercials attempt to draw out emotional responses from the viewers thus grabbing their attention and creating a connection. The method in which they are created is a compilation of various images, sounds, colors, and clips compressed into a short fleeting moment. Though they last for very short periods of time, their impressions are intended to be long lasting. This building, a Pop culture museum is a physical representation of commercials. Located beside an existing television station the building rises from the ground taking a sweeping shape that creates a viewing area in front of the building.

Valencia
This class project called for the design of an educational center for the study of Museology. Located in Valencia, Spain on the site of the Museum of Arts and Sciences by Santiago Calatrava, the building blends into a site dominated by massive structures. The buildingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s design is a representation of the continuous growth and progression of Valencia that stems from its deep cultural roots.

Origami Pavilion
This project began with the exploration of forms by cutting and folding paper. This exploration produces forms that are unique to origami which can later be imitated with other materials. This pavilion explores the word â&#x20AC;&#x153;transformationâ&#x20AC;? and demonstrates it in sequences. Beginning with a basic shape, the pavilion expands and transforms in five phases, each phase more complex with more folds, twists and cuts than the previous.
Competitorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Path
This project was a concrete masonry design build competition. I participated with group members Hannah Lambert and Susan Sontag. We created this design as a representation of the many paths a competitor may take in order to reach their desired goal. The Journey of a competitor is one filled with obstacles and boundaries. The competitor must take risks to reach the desired goal, the sought after plateau that will hold them high above all others. This design embodies the journey from a lower state to a new plateau.
Our group took first place in the competition and presented our design at the 2007 Nation Concrete Masonry Association conference in Indianapolis.
