About ConnectCare About Church Resources Church Resources is a sustainable and responsive organisation built on quality and integrity serving its members as trusted experts in sourcing solutions. We help Church and not-for-profit organisations with collective procurement programs across a wide range of goods and services. As one of Australia’s largest national procurement aggregators, we currently manage more that $220 million in spending a year and save our Members more than $30 million annually through low prices, efficiencies and cost avoidance.
Enabling small not-for-profit aged care organisations access to leading edge software services in a way that is affordable, simple to understand and easy to use. Historically, for smaller-sized aged care facilities the barriers of entry to sophisticated software solutions have been considerable. Among them, the headaches of purchasing and setting up IT infrastructure; limited IT skills and a lack of resources to manage the organisational change. However, it has become increasingly clear that smaller facilities need to adopt enterprise-grade IT services if they are to survive, let alone thrive. In 2007, the Federal Government announced funding for the Clever Networks Program. In response to an IT Readiness Survey conducted by the Department of Health and Aging (DOHA), Church Resources placed a submission and was granted $5.6M to develop and implement the ConnectCare project across four pilot sites in collaboration with leading industry partners. The purpose was to enable smaller not-for-profit aged care facilities, regardless of location, easy and affordable access to high-level services, making a positive difference to the lives of ageing Australians.
Thanks to the success of the ConnectCare project, Church Resources along with our partners iCare and the Ethan Group, are now delighted to be able to offer ConnectCare-Clinical, an affordable solution for small aged care organisations, to a limited number of our Members.
What is ConnectCare-Clinical?
How it benefits your organisation
Case Study
By leveraging the significant investment and outcomes of the ConnectCare project, we have brokered an affordable solution for a limited number of our Members.
Cloud Computing and SaaS services through ConnectCare offer greatly improved business efficiencies and significant savings.
Tim Allsopp, General Manager, Catholic Care of the Aged, Sawtell

“Using SaaS has de-risked our decision making. As a small facility we just could not afford that type of solution or licensing and structure. Using the ConnectCare model meant it was much more affordable for us as a small facility. For me, the main benefit of using Church Resources was having a reliable third-party actually brokering on our behalf. I think there was an independence that couldn’t have been achieved if we had gone directly and there is a genuine desire to provide the right solution for small providers.”
Cloud Computing “ The biggest advantage is being able to outsource the infrastructure and support… This has proved to be very cost effective for us.” Tim Allsopp, General Manager, Catholic Care of the Aged, Sawtell
Managed IT and cloud hosting makes it possible for smaller aged care organisations to access the technological capabilities typically only accessible to larger aged care organisations.
What is Cloud Computing? Cloud Computing comprises software and managed services that are hosted centrally and accessed by your staff using computers and other devices via a web browser over the Internet. This secure delivery method provides not only significant implementation and hardware cost savings for a facility, it also takes the headache out of unknown maintenance costs in the future and the need to be an IT expert to understand the issues.
What is SaaS? The Ethan Group provides the infrastructure, which enables a software delivery model known as Software as a Service (SaaS), or ‘software on demand’, via Cloud computing. The advantages of SaaS allow for a “pay as you use model” and shared costs for upgrades and maintenance. In partnership with Church Resources, the Ethan Group are the lead technology partner for the ConnectCare project, enabling small aged care facilities access to high grade technology solutions that are affordable and easy to use. This is possible due to: »»
The investment by ConnectCare partners and the Federal Government to build a virtual managed data centre.
»» The economies of scale of a shared SaaS environment for small facilities. »» A single point of responsibility for a fully managed service.

We feel vulnerable as one facility and we probably would not have been able to get where we have without Church Resources negotiating for us and working to support our facility.” From her experience with ConnectCare, Christine does recommend running a clinical solution in a SaaS environment to her peers. “Yes – without question – it is a system that works”
