About Us The oldest English language school in Ireland Established and recognised by the Irish government in 1968, the DSE has grown to be one of the largest schools in Ireland. We operate a city centre school, in Temple Bar, open all year round. In the summer we operate a centre in Booterstown, close to the seaside, in the south of Dublin city. Family run for personal attention to you We are a family-run business. With the DSE you are not dealing with a large, impersonal chain of schools, you are dealing with a friendly team who cares about their clients. We personally organise all services we provide, from the time you first arrive to the time we wish you a good journey home. If something needs attention during your stay, you know exactly who to ask for help—us! A complete service with no hidden extras Why should you pay extra for books, registration fees, accommodation booking fees and other charges? When you book with the DSE you get everything you need to begin your course (right down to a pen and exercise book). We’ll even exchange your book if you change your class. No extra charges… ever… we promise! Your holistic school We believe that learning is not just for the classroom. We run a social school and believe that a relaxed social atmosphere is best for learning. From the classes to the excursions and the host families we ensure that everything is in place for you to learn in a fun and relaxed environment.

After class culture, fun and learning The more immersed you are in the language, the quicker you will learn. We provide optional excursions and activities for all students of the DSE (including all entrance fees). This allows you to make friends with other nationalities and backgrounds, to practise English and to experience Dublin and Ireland. We also offer guided tours to places like Galway, Kilkenny and Belfast for a small fee. A school for all ages For students from age 8 to 80 (and sometimes older) for individuals, for groups, for family groups, you can be sure we have something for you. With over 44 years of experience we must be doing something right! The school for you We believe in being flexible. We are not selling memory sticks or paper clips—we sell an experience tailored to you. Want to arrive during the week? No problem. Need a specialised course that you don’t see on our website or in our brochures? Just ask. Want to stay in a host family that shares your interest in ukulele or aardvark breeding? Sure thing. (Okay, perhaps we can’t manage that!) Quality and Value We know that you will not get better value in a school in Dublin. If you think you can, challenge us! With accreditation from the Irish government (ACELS/QQI) and as founding members of MEI, you can be sure there is no compromise on quality. So pop in for a look or visit our web site. We’re here for you!

English and Sports

Senior Travel

Courses are based on our standard courses with 12 lessons in sports.

A course for the more mature traveller.

We offer golf, horse-riding, wind surfing, tennis, sailing, and other sports on request. Lessons are given by professionals at partner sports centres or at our summer centre. (We have a sports programme available in St. Andrews — basketball, tennis, soccer, rounders and more. This English and sports programme is for people who want to get professional sports coaching.)

Sports pack (12 lessons): (in addition to normal course fees)

Z900

We avoid the use of terms like 3rd age and 50 plus to describe these courses — after all everyone is different. This programme is based on our standard course. We like to mix students to expose them to different nationalities, cultures and a wide range of different backgrounds. In our experience we have found that people who book this type of course do not necessarily like being in a class of their age group but appreciate the mix of people in their class. Clients attend our excursion and activity programme and we assign one staff member to look after their needs while they are here. The tour and excursion programme is supplemented with additional (or alternative) activities especially suitable for a more mature learner.

2 weeks: Accommodation option: (host family, single room, part-board)

Z520 Z190 per week

English and Music Courses are based on our standard courses with 12 music lessons. Take advantage of Ireland’s rich musical heritage. We offer almost any musical instrument (including song writing and vocals), and almost all styles of music. This is not like a music lesson you have experienced at home — our teachers are all professional, working musicians, not just music teachers. Many are published and have played with some big names.

Music pack (12 lessons): (in addition to normal course fees)

“I had the most unforgettable memories from my trip to Ireland and I have fallen in love with this beautiful country. My mind has been blown away by the amazing views of green landscapes, fresh air and the power of the waves and wind at the Cliffs of Moher. I felt as if I was standing at the end of world. I had the most amazing time in Dublin School of English and I hope to return there again…” Dmitry from Russia
