English for Aviation

Private 1:1 Lessons

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requires that aviation industry personnel attain a standard of English at ICAO level 4 or above. These ELPAC Aviation English accredited classes will consolidate general English skills with a particular focus on improving listening and speaking ability in aviation industry contexts. Classes includes: •• Communicating effectively in voice-only (telephone/radiotelephone) and in face-toface situations; •• Communicate on work-related topics with accuracy and clarity; •• Use appropriate communicative strategies to exchange messages •• Recognise and resolve misunderstandings (e.g. to check, confirm, or clarify information) •• Handling challenges presented by a complication or unexpected turn of events •• Using a dialect or accent which is intelligible to the aeronautical community

You will receive confirmation of your place on the course and details of dates and fees (your organisation will need to refer to this information to apply for funding). 3. With the PIC number, the online application for funding can be completed.

Newcastle’s Best Bits Art From ultra-modern exhibitions at Baltic, to more traditional pieces at The Laing, there’s something for all artistic tastes. Shopping The Grainger Market sells everything from clothes to meat and you can buy big bags of fruit and vegetables for just £1! One of the largest shopping malls in Europe, the MetroCentre, is only 10 minutes away too! Theatre and culture See a play at the Theatre Royal, a concert at The Sage or an exhibition at the Great North Museum. Coastline & Castles Take a short trip to see our spectacular beaches and historical castles on the coast. Why not try some fish and chips too! Parks and Jesmond Dene A piece of the countryside within the city – the Dene is a must-see. Sport St James’ Park is home to one of the UK’s biggest football clubs – take a tour or join the cheering crowds at a match. You can also support the local rugby teams at nearby Kingston Park. Lessons are between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The timetable will depend on your level, the course and the number of hours you have booked. EARLY TIMETABLE: 9am-11am then 1pm-3pm or

Please book at least 1 week in advance to allow time for the enrolments procedure. Students who require a visa will need to apply further in advance.

Booking fees are non-refundable payments that cover student ID/access cards, course materials, enrolment, accommodation arrangements, and general and visa administration.

All course and accommodation fees must be paid in full during the application stage. Confirmation documents will only be sent once payment is received. We can accept payments by bank transfer using the following details:

Junior Bookings

All under-18s must comply with UK laws; in particular, regarding the consumption of alcohol and tobacco. Their parents or guardians must complete a Parental Consent form. If the school does not receive the completed form, it will be assumed that the rules and conditions have been accepted by the parents/guardian (however, in this case, the host family does not have to accept responsibility for enforcing the curfew). All under-18s must have return transfers booked through the school unless suitable alternative arrangements have been made and confirmed in writing. If you have arranged an Unaccompanied Minor Service with an airline, please consult the school 1 week prior to travel to confirm staff details.

Public Holidays The school will close on UK public holidays (please note that no refund can be given for these days).

If you are a student from outside of the European Economic Area, you may need to apply for a visa to enter the UK. This can be checked on the Home Office webpage. Visa students need to supply:
