COMMISSIONER'S WELCOME WELCOME TO THE CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
I congratulate each and every one of our student-athletes, coaches, administrations, and communities for this outstanding achievement. I thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to representing excellence on the playing fields, along with exemplifying the highest ideals of sportsmanship and character among our 564 member high schools in the CIF Southern Section. The CIF Southern Section was founded in 1913. Since our inception, we have always been first and foremost an educational institution dedicated to teaching young people valuable lessons they can utilize to make them better students now and better people for the future. We believe that the high school student who participates in athletics at their school will learn so many important values that will translate into success later in life. The ideals of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, perseverance through adversity and goal setting are all examples of important concepts taught to our young people through the outstanding leadership provided by our principals, athletic directors, and teacher/coaches. I look forward to the outstanding competition that is to come and seeing our young people pursue and realize their dreams. Let us all pledge to continue to support and celebrate them today, tomorrow and always. All the best,
Rob Wigod Commissioner of Athletics

The Eagles claimed championships in track and field and swimming and diving, including a second-place finish in soccer and a third-place finish in water polo. Culver City took 3rd place recording 14 points. The Centaurs claimed two championships in the sports of water polo and volleyball along with third-place finishes in softball and basketball. The Vikings claimed one championship in volleyball along with three second-place finishes in the sports of football, swimming and diving and wrestling. The CIF-SS developed this recognition program based upon comprehensive excellence in interscholastic competition. The purpose of this program to enhance the spirit of competition, sportsmanship, and goodwill among student-athletes and member schools. The winners are determined by a point system that provides: five points for a divisional championship; three points for a divisional runner-up finish; two points for advancing to the semifinal round or third place finish in a team-place finish sport (i.e. cross country, golf, swimming and diving, track and field); and one point for a fourth-place finish in a team-place finish sport. In cases where a tie occurs the top ten schools were determined by several tiebreaker methods. “We applaud the accomplishments of these programs due to their hard work and dedication that has resulted in their success,” said Rob Wigod, Commissioner of Athletics.
